Technically it can't be a truth unless it is proven. Since there's really no way to prove it, it can't be proven. Since that is the case, it's an opinion, which, by definition, cannot be wrong.

I think Johns deserves it back. If the ARL thought that Locky was a better option, they should have given it to him first time. Personally, I think Locky is the better captain, but the ARL made their decision two years ago. They had Lockyer, Johns and Tallis to choose between and they chose Johns. If they had chosen Lockyer then, this wouldn't be a problem now.

What has John's done over the past two years to entitle him to "deserve it back"? I think the precedent was set when King Wally got injured and Meninga took over...Wally was not automatically entitled to have the captaincy back once he recovered. It was just tough luck Wally. If what you say about the captaincy being part of the infamous John's contract is true I'm sure it will cause quite an amount of **** to hit the fan north of the border so there is no need for me to make a John's vs Lockyer contest. They are both superb players but Lockyer was always going to take over as "greatest". John's getting injured just sped up the process. Same as some younger guy will eventually surpass Lockyer.

Joey would be a better man if he conceded that fact and let Lockyer have his time in the sun.

The captaincy will come down to who is uninjured and playing the best football at the time NOT some low act of demanding it as part of a contract deal.

His record as Australian captain far exceeds John's. The Australian captaincy should not be part of the John's deal for staying with league. If it is it would be a complete scandal and make a complete joke of the NRL.

I think this is the most true statement that I have seen so far. But what about the urgency to get Johns back into league the whole thing was a joke, and it will get worse this year if he gets injured again. The amount of allowances they made for him (remebering he is only one player) was stupid, I mean Tuqiri and Sailor were two of our better wingers and the ARL didn't go offering them any deal.

Winger or not, I rate the loss of Loti Tuqiri to RU a far greater one than John's potential loss. Tuquri is senational and RU are not doubt thanking the ARL for their short-sightedness/blind stupidity. I admit I watched the entire RU World Cup just to see Tuqiri play and couldn't believe how little they used him, then when they did, a very ordinary looking Australian side suddenly looked like a match winning side. That's the sort of feeling lockyer brings to a game.

The whole ARL deal with John's has lost him a lot of credibility across the board. While I have no doubt Joey will come back (or at least attempt to) with a vengence next season, the captaincy should be Lockyers. For those who declare John's the "incumbent" - think clearly - he was incumbent the year he lost the captaincy only. He doesn't remain incumbent for an indefinite period of time. Life goes on without Joey despite what they ARL would have us think! Lockyer was elected Captain on his own merit this year - that makes him the "incumbent".

Then is Johns is this almighty god why the hell did it take 1 million dollars to lure him back to league. Sounds like you need to read a little about the salary cap, your ignorance is blinding. Loti left because RU made a bigger offer than Broncos could match. He wanted to come back this season and had talks with CEO Cullen but again same problem but unlike John's, the NRL did not wet themselves getting to the table to keep him and once again RU were the winners.

I didn't mention Dell ... but always thought he'd look good playing for Newcastle.

Andy Farrell getting Golden Boot this year is about as big a joke as John's getting the Captaincy as part of a contract deal.
