Sounds like you need to read a little about the salary cap, your ignorance is blinding. Loti left because RU made a bigger offer than Broncos could match.

If his heart was in it the NRL would not have had to go to such lengths to buy Johns back.

Same thing applies mate.

Lockyer. Can't Captain, can't tackle and copied everything Johns has done

This wins the "stupidest statement" of the year award ;-) ;-)

So John's INVENTED rugby league too!!!!!!!!!

Remind me how many times John's captained Australia, and how many games he played as Captain, and how many he won?

It's such a long time since he played I've forgotten.

Lockyer made a huge position change this year and, I seem to recall, took out the 5/8 of the year at Dally M's (for what they are worth) even though he missed 10 games. I think making such a successful playing transition is a better indication of his skills than how many sycohantic NSWRL awards he gets.

Get real, as a Queenslander, are we really going to load him down with medals!!!

A better player than John's already and, before his playing days are finished, will join Lewis as all time great.

That's OK.

Anyway - 2005 should be a great season no matter who thinks who is the best player.

Having John's back in the game and Lockyer playing so well can only be a good thing for league.

Besides WB has made his preference clear and he has coached both.

Is someone STILL p!ssed off because Del and Loti chose NOT to play for the Broncos? Face it, they didn't like the club, so they left.

Simple as that.

Sounds like you need to read a little about the salary cap, your ignorance is blinding. Loti left because RU made a bigger offer than Broncos could match. He wanted to come back this season and had talks with CEO Cullen but again same problem but unlike John's, the NRL did not wet themselves getting to the table to keep him and once again RU were the winners.

I didn't mention Dell ... but always thought he'd look good playing for Newcastle.

Dally M is a NSW award. Has no credibility.

Can you remind me who won Golden Boot last year?
Andy Farrell getting Golden Boot this year is about as big a joke as John's getting the Captaincy as part of a contract deal.

Fancy having to make it part of your contract...must have realisied he wouldn't get it any other way :D :D

If Loti wanted to play league SO much, why didn't he take a pay cut? :? So it's OK fo him to want the best possible deal, but not Johns? FFS! #-o

And you have blown any credibility you had by showing bias. This thread has nothing to do with who should be captain. It's all about you not likeing Joey and being jealous because you have no halfback and the most over-rated 5/8 since Fittler. And that's saying something!

And can you tell me why you addressed this part of the post and then bring up something from the same post in another post? Next time, could you save me some reading please? Put ALL your thoughts into the same post!

What you did just makes it look like you were back peddling. ;-)

Lote didn't drag his decision for months & months.

Neither have the Knights for 3 years.

Opps, Gidley was the saviour wasn't he.

Did pretty well for a guy who had limited first grade experience before taking up the role of playmaker.

Tell me how many premierships have the Broncos won since 2001? Or are you going to tell me you've been in a "re-building" phase?

Sorry you seem to have lost the point. John's DIDN'T take a pay cut and did not go to RU. The point was...why didn't the ARL step in to prevent great players like Loti going over to RU? Why did they get involved with John's FULLSTOP...if he wanted to play Union well good luck to him.

What a load of crap. You either can't read or are sniffing something very strong. I have nothing but praise for John's. He is a great player and NOooooooo Whoopie dooooee I don't think he is superior to Lockyer. The only issue that annoys me is whether there is any truth in the story suggesting John's and the ARL have a deal re the Captaincy.

I said it before, quality wingers are like sand. They're everywhere.

Who would you prefer to pay money to see? Marquee players like Johns & Lockyer or Del and Loti?

If the NRL lost an incumbent captain to ARU, then they may as well have packed up shop and raise the white flag. The NRL offered NO cash incentives to Johns to stay in league. If the Australian captaincy had anything to do with it, then they've never admitted it.

Yet the Australian coach throws his two bob in!

I have to give credit to Bennett, he sticks up for his players.

No matter how sh!t they are. (I'm pointing at Tonie *Aussie* Carroll BTW)

Premier League is where you put out of form players not Test football.

Then again, Bennetts comments on the matter don't really count considering he has a vested interest in who's captain.

Hey!

I'm only as thick as THREE placks!

[-(

I should have added since Langer and Walters left to the above quote. #-o

I mean, the son-inlaw was a super buy for the Broncos wasn't he?

26 and clapped out, isn't he? ;-)

"
If the NRL lost an incumbent captain to ARU" ?????

Now then SETTLE PETTLE...poor child...bagging great players and coaches does not constitute a good argument....and...

Lockyer is incumbent and he quietly and politely declined offers from union early this season, albeit, BEFORE they approached John's.

No footy show appearances. No NRL. No media extravaganza.

He just said no thanks.

So...there was absolutely no danger of the incumbent captain being lost to ARU.

The former captain was a different matter however. :)

How thick???? Only three planks?????

Anyone read what Buderus said about Lockyer in the NRL Year Book?

No. ????

And you'd be 4 planks thick.

Lockyer is the stand-in captain. If Johns had been fit, Lockyer would have been Vice Captain. So he's standing in for the guy who is injured.

Understand?

I wasn't bagging Bennett for his decisions for the Broncos. I was bagging him for his stupid selections in the Tri-Nations and for trying to make out that he's doing what's best for the Australian team. If he'd made those comments as Broncos coach, so be it. But he made them whilst representing Australia as it's national coach. He knows full well the politics behind the scenes but do you really think he's done Lockyers cause any good with the NSW board members who may have been sympathetic to him?

There is NO us and them. The Broncos have never, EVER lost the "it's only good for league if it's good for us" mentality.

It's fans like you who will go along way to making the Broncos take over from the Roosters as the mosted hated fans on LU. Why haven't you contributed to anything else here? You only seem interested in this issue.

I don't understand why you don't rally the Borncos fans.

You know Lockyer would be classified as the stand in captain if had to cover for one game or maybe two not two years of Tri Nations, believe it or not Krupa he has been captain for quite a substantial amount of time. The matter here isn't that if Johns had been fit cause he wasn't fit and Lockyer was, truth be it, the time of Johns captaincy has probably passed him by while he was injured those last couple of years.

I am not a Brisbane Fan nor a Knights Fan. I simply live near Newcastle and support the Panthers so I have no bias but listening to your comments kind of reminds me of almost every knights game I have been to. You complain about anything and everything if the slightest ball sway doesn't go your way. Hell I have seen a ref booed off after you guys were wining quite substantially.

I present to you the most moronic poster on LU!

I post in the Knights forum! What did you expect? I support the Knights and Joey's my favourite player. This isn't the NRL forum! It's the Knights!

How would you react if some troll came on and bagged out your favourate Panthers player? (I'm refering to $broncos$ here, not you.)

If this was the NRL forum, I'd take my licks with aplomb.

Just don't expect me to agree with you because you happen to think I should!
