Ontop of the discussion in the Week 15 thread, how would you rank the rookie QB's based on their performances this year? Would be interesting to see draft values and their return to a team in their first season in the league.

Off the top of my head, the rookie QB's who have taken a snap in the NFL this year are (in no particular order)

+ Sam Bradford (STL)
+ Colt McCoy (CLE)
+ John Skelton (ARI)
+ Jimmy Clauson (CAR)
+ Max Hall (ARI)
+ Tim Tebow (DEN)
+ Joe Webb (MIN)

If i have forgotton any, feel free to mention them.

1 Same Bradford - Very easy #1
2 Colt McCoy - Has been super good, better than I thought he'd go, I believe today was his first loss as starter?
3 Max Hall
4 Tim Tebow
5 Jimmy Clausen
6 John Skelton
7 Joe Webb - I believe Joe Webb will have a monster game tomorrow though, the kid has crazy skills! I loved what I saw from him in pre season.

Bradford has slowed down the last few weeks, #1 easily though. Very surprised by McCoy. Browns and Rams are going places with those two.

The rest can all be bunched together in the fail group for now, Tony Pike another one.

#1 Bradford
#2 McCoy
#3 Tebow
#4 Clausen
#5 Webb
#6 Skelton
#7 Pike
#8 Hall

That's how I think they'll rank by end of the year.

Tebow hasn't been given the opportunity yet and yesterday he showed some of what he is capable of. He can run and throw but obviously needs more time under centre taking snaps.

Bradford has been the standout easily. But long term McCoy is the QB I would have taken pre-draft & still the guy I'd take now. What he is doing with no WR corp of note & a backside G & T that could use a little work is amazing. This kid is the real deal & when Cleveland get him even one decent WR (Massaquoi I think will eventually become a nice WR2 but he is hardly a headliner) & strengthen that line I believe he will advance at a great rate towards being a premiere QB. With all the luck in the world they will find a way to land A.J Green next draft, if not then Julio Jones or Justin Blackmon. If they get Green or Blackmon, & with Hillis & McCoy, I may just become a closet Brown!

Tebow is starting again next week against Houston, should get a glimpse of what he's made of at home against the worst secondary in the league.

um, it's not like bradford is throwing to all pros. non of the rams wrs would be in the top 3 in any other team. avery went down in preseason and clayton went down after 3 games. just like the browns most fans wouldn't be able to name any rams wrs.

You can't be serious?

I'd take Massaquoi, Robiskie and Watson over what Bradford is throwing to...laurent robinson, danny amendola, some other nuffy.

Bradford's receivers have been dropping like flies too...he's had to learn all new wr's every week.

For the Browns there have been very little injuries to that offense.

Plus the Browns line is more than fine...they have arguably the best LT in the league in Joe Thomas and a great C in Alex Mack.

I'll take Bradford any day of the week.

Not sure why the need to defend Bradford when my post clearly says I think he has been the best so far. Odd...

Massaquoi over Amendola? f**k orf! That's either a massive over exaggeration of Massaquoi or a lack of time watching Amendola. I know he is short but he is the crispest route runner I've seen in ages & is damn quick about it. He also has great hands. Though in fairness, like Massaquoi, he will do substantially better when teams aren't keying off him first. As for the G & T, singularly both are incredibly good players but I don't think they are always on the same page is what I was getting at.

As a side note, for how bad the Rams apparently have it, seems odd how their receivers are keeping the team ahead of the Browns in passing yards/g then no?

Purely the fact you said in the long run however you'd take McCoy. I totally disagree with that statement.

On your side note...the reason the Ram's are ahead is because their QB is better...and he is finding his WR's despite the fact they are dropping like flies. Surely that is an indication he is a better QB both now and into the future when his weapons around him are healthy/better skilled.

Even allowing for it being his first NFL start, Webb today proved he is not up to it.

Harsh. I believe he could develop a hell of a lot further than Tarvaris ever did.

Id hope they hold on to him as a QB for another year see how he goes.

In the long run I would take McCoy, I don't see how you can disagree with that being it's simply my opinion. As I said twice in reference to the OP, Bradford is far & away the leading rookie QB this year. No doubts on that from this side of the screen. But for me, my opinion only, choosing a QB I'd take McCoy for long term possibilities. I believe he has a better head for the game & leaves Bradford for mobility & ability to throw on the run. That is purely speculation like most things on this forum & never once claimed to be written as utter fact, & time will tell if I'm near the mark or not.

So you're saying as long as a QB finds a WR it's ok, has nothing to do with a WR actually MAKING the catch? Really? I only say that because the flip side is that the Rams WRs are making the catches where as the Browns WRs clearly then aren't thusly proving nothing more than the Rams WRs are actually better. Which I thought wasn't how things are? Bottom line is both have mediocre receivers & yet are still getting the job done. It's really nothing more than a Ford V Holden argument at the moment, both do the same job it's just a matter of who shows up on the day.

The smart money is always McCoy & Ford...

Surely a pre-requisite to being a moderator here would be that one would understand how these forum thingy-me-bobs work right? You do understand debating member opinions (which involves disagreeing) for the most part is the lifeblood of a good forum right?

Step down from the soap box.

in all fairness the Browns are keeping McCoy's playbook and duty VERY minimal, hes averaging what like 200 yards per game? He reminds me a lot of Sanchez in his first year, but don't get me wrong, the kid has great potential, but in terms of leadership qualities and Franchise QB potential, Bradford all the way.

Bradford reminds me of Matty Ryan in his first year, really displaying great leadership qualities, however Bradford is doing it with unknown WR's. Well that was before this year. Danny Amendola has deadset been a star and a MASSIVE safety net for Bradford. Just looking at his stats (75 Rec for 627 yards, the 75 Receptions are tied with Hakeem Nicks as 9th most in the league), you can see that he staying close to the first down marker (8.4 YPC) and running his routes superbly, helping the Rams move the chains. As a rookie QB, having a guy like that who you know will be there for you to move the chains and keep you on the field is more then you could ask for, trust in your WR's is a big thing for QB's of course.
