Mar 11 - Luke Rooney has agreed to remain with Penrith until at least the end of season 2008.
This is great news for the club, Michael Leary, General Manager of Rugby League Operations at Panthers said today. Not only is he one of the finest wingers in the game today, he is also an essential part of our plans to go forward over the next few years.
We are gradually welding all the links in the chain.
With Luke Lewis having already signed, and Craig Gower letting us know that he intends to remain with the club for life, we are confident of keeping together a team that will only get better.
Rooney, 22, a Penrith junior (St Dominics), made his first grade debut for Penrith in 2001.
He has played in five Tests, three Origin matches for NSW and for City. He scored two tries in Penriths 2003 Grand Final win and is one of the surest players under the high ball.
Asked what had made him decide to stay, Luke said: "I've never really wanted to go anywhere else - I like being in Penrith and playing with my mates.
"I'm heaps happy here and just looking forward to another good season. I can't wait."

Fantastic! Good Onya Luke! Of course being a former Dom's boy myself I never doubted your loyalty. You can take the boy out of Penrith, but you can't take Penrith out of the boy!
