According to Everton CEO Bill Kenwright Wayne Rooney is worth £50m but has insisted he will not be going anywhere.

Yes Rooney is worth £50m and I will go on trial at Inter Milan next week and Diego Forlan will be voted the world's greatest ever player.

Because there not a team full of champions, but in the England squad, that's another matter...

That's why i reckon Rooney needs to leave Everton, and join a better club, one that plays euro games and all

Rooney needs to watch out not to become another Owen - burnt out at 24 because of too much pressure and playing time when he was younger.

Owen at WC 98 was exactly the same as Rooney. Look where he is now - couldn't score in a brothel.

Dammit Rooney better not leave Everton where he picks up more cards than goals.

Seriously could you imagine if Ryan Giggs was English? When he burst on to the scene he was awesome, but play for Wales as he should (like Owen should.)

You still laughing at the thought of comparing Rooney to Cassano? I am, because there is no comparison at the moment.

Rooney has been far and away the player of the tournament to date.

Who mentioned Cassano in this thread?

But do keep laughing. We'll see how Cassano goes tonight against Bulgaria.

And we'll see how Rooney does against half-decent opposition, even though he has done very well so far.

If you have seen Cassano play a game you wouldn't even compare the two because they are totally different players. Cassano is more techincal and skillful and often drifts out wide to create plays. Rooney is a direct striker. But that's another matter.

I'd agree with you that he is the player of the tournament so far though.

Its good to see that he is doing so well at such a young age, 50mil is a hell of a lot of money though. He has been sensational for the English team so far at Euro.

I don't think they'd quite get 50 million from him, judging when Alan Smith was younger the same thing was said about him then the price mark went down as they became a fairly averaged player, same will go for Rooney!!
Though, he played brilliant against the Croats yesterday.

Rooney is fantastic, he's one of my favourite players but 50 mil is a very inflated price for an 18 year old.

partly the reason he's rated that high is because he's so good so young, already very mature and an all round player. It would be the equivalent of a new Darren Lockyer appearing aged 18 in the NRL.

re Owen I dont think it was 'pressure' that got to him more likely the effects of injuries which he never properly shook off, but I wouldnt write him off yet, there were people writing him off in 2000 and he was European Footballer of the year in 2001
