Sportstab has suspended betting for the wooden spoon.

Why is this important?

The Roosters have gone from $501.00 to $51.00 in one day.

Could we see the dramas of 2002 unfold?
Someones got mail, and has put plenty on it, for it to come in $450.00.

Beware people, this story has legs, apparently. Go to the SportsTAB web site, and see the Roosters price.

Apparently 2KY reported a cap breach thismorning - seems pretty serious... it'd be SO sad if the Rorters lost all their points 8)

Here's a story about the betting.

Betting suspended on Roosters' wooden spoon
Sydney Roosters bosses have denied that the club is suffering from salary cap troubles after a massive betting plunge on their chances of winning the National Rugby League's wooden spoon.

The Sportstab betting agency has been forced to suspend betting after almost$30,000 was placed backing the Roosters to finish at the foot of the ladder.

The Roosters had come in from 500-to-1 to 50-to-1.

A Sportstab spokesman said the plunge started after a talkback caller rang a Sydney radio station to say the Roosters were in salary cap trouble.

Today Roosters chief executive Brian Canavan said the Roosters had handed audit documents to the National Rugby League in March, and said the league had no problems with the Roosters.

Sportstab said it suspended betting to protect itself and small punters who may have been influenced by ill-founded gossip.

I did check on Centrebet earlier tonight and the Roosters were 4th favourite for the spoon on $21.

I doubt anyone is putting bets like $10,000 on the Roosters to get the spoon, but knowing the gulibility of human beings I'd supsect there have been quite a few $5-$50 bets and in total they're enough to drop the odds greatly.
