The Sydney Roosters have signed Les Catalans prop forward Chris Beattie to a one year contract. The agreement will see Beattie join the club for their 100th season in 2007.
The 30 year old former Sharks and Queensland State of Origin prop joined Les Catalans in 2005.
“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to join the Roosters for their 100th season in 2007 and excited at the chance to return and complete my career in the NRL.
“I’m also looking forward to the chance to play under Chris Anderson again” Beattie concluded.
Beattie’s addition to the 2007 Roosters squad will add maturity to the ever strengthening forward pack including exciting new recruits Nate Myles and Beattie’s former Sharks team mate Danny Nutley.

Fair dinkum I know I can hardly talk being a Souths supporter but sheesh your recruitment for 2007 smells A LOT like that of Souths ever since re-instatement (until this year that is).

Beattie was average 5 years ago, he's still average now. He did nothing for the last placed ESL side.

your recruiting is still up to - do you wait for players to turn 30 too. Vagana - the next white hope Lololol, Peachey the one game a year wonder, Widders the pie eater, so back to your bunny hole vermin. Watch out for the headlights

LOL. You see the big difference is the 30 year olds that we've signed are actually good.

i'm afraid the 30 year olds you signed only signed for an early super payout. face the facts vagana did nothing at the sharks for all the time he was there, the bulldog prop won;t be any good without the other bulldog forwards, kidwell would have struggled to hold his spot next year at the storm. the parramatta half would have been playing premier league etc etc.

you need at least 2 or 3 quality backs/ a 5/8 and about 4 quality forwards still to ven have half a chance of making the 8.

yobbo84 go bake cakes for the grand final winner with your collection of wooden spoons

choppies, seriously, how can you be excited about the signing of beattie? he is rubbish, absolute manure sh*t, are we like attempting to be some sort of retirement village hotel for all these footballers in their 30s who never made it? ofcourse this fool is looking forward to playing under anderson, it means he has to do sh*t all to make the starting line up, a forward pack consisting of harrison, beattie, myles and nutley is rubbish, i wouldnt subject newton to the sort of torture, i mean WAKE THE f**k UP RECRUITMENT TEAM our premier league team is in the GRAND FINAL while our first grade team decided to give souths a false sense of hope that a transitional change of guard of their wooden spoon dominance was about to happen this year, FFS, if our youngsters were give a chance regularly in a few years time we'd be back at the top, next year is looking like a repeat of this year, way to kill my hopes of thinking next year was looking promising

have we actually made one positive signing in the last 2 years? charline tonga has the most potential out of our signings for the last 2 years

I don't think so - the only ones who think Vagana is anygood is a dreamer or a Vermin supporter - Widders couldn't play more than half a season and what about Peachey , - one good game a season peachey...when wil that be - He will run over the side line drop the ball - kick the ground and generally whinge and whine. And how good is one leg jake peg - Asatosi - "I don't wanta leave the dogs" Hope Geedes plays more than 4 games this year..he reckons he is on the best wicket since sliced cheese...

Nutley is a good signing - and the young forwards will come on leaps on in leaps and bounds this year, Shackleton, Shillington, Plumb, the makings of a very good pack. Don't sell Harrison short - he was doing his best work before he got injured. I mean he had to shake the sh*t out of his shoes from playing with the nufffing team the year before. At least we have a couple of front rowers which are better than what we had last year

yeah, i think ill retract me comments on harrison, i mean, i kno he tried hard and all, and i hope he does come good coz he is defensively evry sound, but like, i just believe our youngsters need to be given time, i mean it has been the same old story over the last few years, if things had been done right we could possibly have figured out most if not all the positional puzzles we face, instead we are in the same position as when freddy left instead of making some sort of progress

i am unconvinced with nutley and beattie, dont get me wrong, i hope for the club sake they prove me wrong, id love to admitt i was wrong, dont see it happening though

Stinks of desperation from the Roosters, they have gone from a feared pack to a bunch of powder puffs in the space of two years.
I think the wheels have fallen off and you guys are on your way to being the easy beats of the nrl.

Funny that Nutley was picked in the All Star ERL side asper Rugby League Week (I think) along with Fielden etc so he isn't going to bad. A tough nut - good young forwards coming through and I think a lot of other teams are in worse problems than us Wests for example - Cowboys, Canberra, to name a few. The court is still out on Souths

The way it looks though, we have traded Cayless & Cusack for Beattie & Nutley. We have traded Crocker for Harrison. We have traded Rose & Hannant for Tonga & Hall. And we have traded Cross, Hodges & Hegarty for Monaghan, Williams & Roberts. Not to mention replacing Freddie with Bwaiff.

Unlike Souths we have a young side full of up and comers. And our Premier LEague partners The Jets and Flegg are up there too....Souffs are not showing anything with their borrowed juniors, so I guess more buying from others to continue.

Go Beetroot!!!!!!!!

If he doesn't do anything else, he'll at least be involved in a few dust ups.

As Long as they havent payed too much for him, i think this is a great signing, he isnt a top class player, but he is solid with what he does, ive been a fan of chris beattie ever since, he played origin, he had a blinder of a season that year, and i think he could be great value for money

Just think Beattie as Adrian Morley who's had the same bath as the Bundy Bear on that TV advert - you know the one with the sock. That should make it easier for you.

He's got the same mongrel as Morley, only sunburnt.

Anyone who's played Origin for Queensland can't be all bad, and, who knows, like Tonnie Carroll he may come back a better player.

origin doesnt automatically make u a great player, i mean, finch and kimmorley have played origin before too, not to forget darryl brohman

I think the only way we can accomodate our 3 locks & still maintain a solid bench rotation & front row in First Grade & PL is:

First Grade

8. Danny Nutley
9. Craig Wing
10. Chris Beattie
11. Ashley Harrison
12. Craig Fitzgibbon
13. Braith Anasta

14. Chris Flannery
15. Nate Myles
16. Anthony Tupou
17. Charlie Tonga

Premier League

8. Clifford Manua (i hear we signed him)
9. George Ndaira
10. David Shillington
11. Mickey Paea
12. Nigel Plum
13. Mitch Aubusson

14. Adam Schubert
15. Lopini Paea
16. Shane Shackleton
17. Steve Meredith

Reserves: Setaimata Sa, Heath L'Estrange, Rory Kostjaysn, Frank-Paul Nuuausala, Danny Williams (here's where the losses of Allwood, Winterstein, Horo & Dumas really come into play)
