Round 1 (2005) Eels Vs Panthers

Gorilla shambles around the field, trying to keep the newly 'White-oh'd' Dunlop Volleys clean, and the comb from falling out of the socks.....

Panthers

Big Mick
Hyperbolic but fits the current climate. Solid, readable post.

BRANDY
Cute overview although statistically more modern history than ancient. Fun read.

somethingwithjohn
An appreciably personal post but reads like 2 separate posts stuck together. Unconnected and also brief for outcome.

Azkatro
Semi-surreal and interesting, needed extra readings but could have been improved by more clarity in structure and definition in character dialogue.
81

Maelgwnau
A quick but detailed view of a few GF incidents. Attractively written.

Eels

Bazza
Solid with flashes of interesting turns and insights but a little uneventful.
72

Goleel
Great insight into COD. Nearly had me checking for semi-colon counts.

eloquentEEL
Shades of Alan Jones … shudder. Before you open a door it must be closed.

MarkInTheStands
Who is writing about whom these days? A number of good observations.
74

PARRA_FAN
Good collection of USA history – interesting read.

Winners:
Eels 393 : Panthers 363

MOM:
Tie between Goleel and elequentEEL, both of whom showed something extra, with clarity, style and form.

Well played bith teams !

Guidelines
-Essays score more points if they are rugby league related. Essays which have little or no reference to rugby league will score low.
-Essays which show some effort will be marked favourably.
-The more original the essay, the higher the score.
-Players who borrow from other sources would be advised to list those sources

-Essays must be original material from the author which has not been posted in a previous F7s match.

Of course, recycled materials may not be known to a ref, so there is always a chance a ref won't spot materials re-used or recycled by a player. :?

I imagine it's going to be the players or readers who spot recycling, re-use, or in other nefarious examples, plagarism... :(

Use of quotes and references should avoid most accusations of plagarisms, as well as quoting from other, earlier materials.

Good game Panthers, great way to start the season and it's great to see us Eels start with a win after taking so long to register our first last year. This is our year! (hopefully)

Congrats to Eloquent too on splitting the MotM, I challenge you to a 1500 word essay on Paul Carige, the pros and cons, to decide who takes home the trophy and $1000 State Bank MotM cheque.

Thanks as well to Gorilla for reffing, and nice shoes...

My essay wouldn't have a "pros" section. I could certainly write 1500 words on the cons, but that genius doesn't deserve 2 essays... the sooner we can extinguish him from our memories the better. Let's just use the MOTM cheque to shout the Parramaniacs in Bay 23 at today's match.

PS. Thanks to the Panthers for a good first round hit out, and thanks for reffing gorilla. It was great to get some early runs on the board and congrats to bazza and MITS on their official debuts. The Eels squad is pumped up for season 2005 and already in training for their Round 2 matchup.
