That was an excellent start to the season, well the first half was anyways. At the 10 minute mark it was obvious we were on top of them and eating metres at will. There was a lapse in the 2nd half which I guess in humid conditions in round 1 was acceptable but that was an alarming issue last year that saw the likes of Cronulla come back from 24 points down, Cowboys nearly come back from 30 and both Penrith and Souffs beating us in the finals with leads the 2013 team would never give up.

However, the glaring positive in the 2nd half was the defence which was incredible at times, they hit the attackers with purpose and desire. We were fortunate not to concede 2 tries with the cowboys dropping the ball twice over the line however one was from our mistake and the other tends to happen when teams are put under pressure to score.

Pearce was excellent in his first game as captain, he looked composed when conversing with officials and he looks to be continuing his form from the backend of last season. RTS excelled in his first full game at FB and Ferguson defended really well although didn’t have many chances in attack. Overall it was an all round good effort.

3 pearce - really composed with two awesome grubbers leading to trys. Rab at the line a few times which keeps them guessing.
2 cordner -had some awesome runs up the middle and of course scored a double.
1 rts - solid start from fback

Defence all around was stellar. Worried about next week. We cant keep giving penalties away. Hopefully its a cooler day aswell

3 - Pearce - He is putting in on and off the field, his composure and communication have improved immensely. He's wearing the captaincy well.
2 - RTS - Wanted to be in everything and added value when he did. This kid could be anything.
1 - Liu - Stepped up to the starting side and did not put a foot wrong. Ran hard and was the other player striving to keep O'Neil out along with RTS. Has a nice late step as well.

Great all round performance, especially in defence. That was beautiful to watch. Never saw a player drop their head once.

Cows were awful, but only because our up tempo game and defence never let them into the game.
