It's hard to get a fair indication of how teams are playing at the start of the season, especially when so many grounds are being affected by the cold weather. There's been a fair bit of snow up north, I wasn't even sure a few of the games would be going ahead, thankfully they all got the go ahead.

The weather conditions at the KC will have favoured Hull. We've managed to escape most of the snow and sleet that a lot of the northwest had to endure. The KC would have been wet but there was never any danger of the game being cancelled due to freezing conditions. All praise must go to the Catalans who, I'm sure, would have had better weather than they encountered in Hull.

Not really. If a team's usual captain is going to be out, you can usually find reference to who will be filling the role in stories during the week in the lead-up to the match. If you're just trying to find out at the time of the match off game stats etc it can be tricky. Print weeklies will usually carry the information, but only after the event, you can get electronic subscriptions to at least one of the two weekly league newspapers.

Can you let me know the names of the two papers? Cheers

One of them is Rugby League Express. I think you'll find them at www.totalrl.com . Strangely it's more expensive to subscribe to the online version than to actually buy the newspaper itself :?

Yep. The other is League Weekly, doesn't have a big online presence, but it looks like they might be changing that? http://www.league-weekly.com/
