Round 1 v Sharks

For 4 years now the so called experts have said the Panthers have lost key players because of the salary cap but Ivan has provided pretty good "new guys".

This year though they are death riding us and only because of Fish and Romey moving on.

And now they think that the Sharks are such a better side because they got one prop forward who really only plays 45 to 50 minutes. Its mind boggling.

I just keep reminding myself that the Sharks have scored one try against us in 3 years but apparently AFB and clueless Nicho are going to be enough to beat us.

It's in Cronulla's head. They have to play out of their skin to beat Penrith, whoever we run out.

I see this going 1 of 2 ways.

We run up a score

or similar to Round 1 last year our preparation is lacking and we lose but concede 1-2 tries

Unless Cronulla shit the bed we won't run up a score. Not with the side we have currently named.
It is clear to me we are preparing to grind this one out.

Me too. I am not expecting too much tomorrow considering Nathan and Dyl are coming back from surgery, limited pre season for a lot of our squad and no trial games.

Me too. I still can't believe that we have won 4 in a row. It looks like Pauly A is OK, because he's locked into a wing. There was some talk of injury.......

100% agree that people haven’t learnt to trust probably the most amazing coaching stretch I have ever seen in the c40 years I have been watching (the first game I went to was 1986 and the first game I can remember was the 86 grand final, so can’t really comment on Gibson). The consistency and culture created has made decent players into genuine superstars of the game; we all love Dyl and Yeo, but can anyone really have predicted they would be Australian players 6 years ago.

I slightly disagree that this year is worse. The Kiks and Api year seemed pretty OTT… I am not in Oz so don’t have the same exposure to it as you, but it seems to me that the press coverage seems to be ‘surely these guys fall back, but I’ve been burnt before…’

As a Sharks supporter I know that we have to play to the absolute best of our ability, and for you guys to be a bit off.
If you are a bit off and we win, you know it doesn't really matter as you'll be right at some time during the season and switch on.
Anyone who thinks that you losing two more players is going to effect you not being up there towards the end is an idiot.
Do I think we'll win tomorrow? Yep I do, but I'm never going to say anything different, it's the secret of me never winning tipping comps, I never back against the Sharks haha.
Personally I absolutely love it that we are playing your team first round. I'm hyped, bring it on!

I thought Edwards would play for NSW. His career went to a big low being dropped in 2019. Amazing comeback from the bloke.

Didn't see Yeo's rise to power. He just looked like a dependable forward to me. No question he is the best 13 in the world.

Look no further than our production line to see consistency. Gus said it best a few years back: Every player who debuts for this club is 100% ready for first grade. It's an extremely impressive set up.

Go back to around 2016 and it was the reverse. The Panthers couldn't keep up with the Sharks. Swings and roundabouts.

Big difference in that was we only had it for a year, well maybe a couple more over your team.
Youse have had it over us for 5 years now.
I was at that game at Kogarah, when it was crowd limited in 2020, and you guys pulverised us.
I distinctly remember thinking "wtf have I just seen?"
I said to one of your supporters on the way out "congrats, that is one of the best displays by a team I've ever seen. You guys are going to go far"
Little did I know how far haha

Sharks won 10/12 games from 2013 to 2019. It was a lean run for us.

But yes at our best we absolutely steam roll teams. If they play at their potential they are just a team you can't beat.

Absolutely.
To me the big difference between your club and others that have been "the ones to beat" ie: Storm and Roosters, I still went for you in the GF last year, even after you knocked us out. There is no chance in hell I'd go for those other two.
That's because I respect what your club has done with their pathways, juniors etc.
We try and do it, on a much smaller scale, and I'm very proud of my club that for such a small community, supporter number wise, that we have the second most juniors in Sydney after you guys.

Yes we have souls.

Roosters and Storm sold their souls many years ago.

And what hurt most about that period was Wade Graham and Luke Lewis being great servants to another side…

Hey man, 2003, Lang's x 2, Preston.
I am so happy for Sorro. A born and bread Shark from royalty. Great player and awesome person.
I'll never forgive Morris for pushing him out the door. It was up there with Anderson and Presto for me.

Bubby makes a good point. The Lang's and Presto are legends here. We helped each other out.

Lewis hurt more than Graham. The latter played better football for Cronulla. I think Lewis peaked here but we wasted those years unfortunately.
NSW and Australia wasted Lewis even worse than we did. Picking bums like Josh Jackson and Boyd Cordner over him, ridiculous stuff
