Round 1 v Sharks

Hey man, 2003, Lang's x 2, Preston.
I am so happy for Sorro. A born and bread Shark from royalty. Great player and awesome person.
I'll never forgive Morris for pushing him out the door. It was up there with Anderson and Presto for me.
It’s a great point; as Fangs said those blokes are all legends.

Of course, I feel having to endure Sparkles at the back-end of his career in some way does counterbalance the great vibes…

Absolutely.
To me the big difference between your club and others that have been "the ones to beat" ie: Storm and Roosters, I still went for you in the GF last year, even after you knocked us out. There is no chance in hell I'd go for those other two.
That's because I respect what your club has done with their pathways, juniors etc.
We try and do it, on a much smaller scale, and I'm very proud of my club that for such a small community, supporter number wise, that we have the second most juniors in Sydney after you guys.

Thank you for your kind words

100% agree that people haven’t learnt to trust probably the most amazing coaching stretch I have ever seen in the c40 years I have been watching (the first game I went to was 1986 and the first game I can remember was the 86 grand final, so can’t really comment on Gibson). The consistency and culture created has made decent players into genuine superstars of the game; we all love Dyl and Yeo, but can anyone really have predicted they would be Australian players 6 years ago.

I slightly disagree that this year is worse. The Kiks and Api year seemed pretty OTT… I am not in Oz so don’t have the same exposure to it as you, but it seems to me that the press coverage seems to be ‘surely these guys fall back, but I’ve been burnt before…’
My first exposure to top level Rugby League was round one 1967 at Penrith Park.

Super coach comparisons over the years I've loved the game, nothing comes close to the complete club pathway system that Ivan has continued to polish, but remember, those pathways have been in Penrith for 50 years.

Gibson had the best players bought for him, Bennett had an origin side and has really achieved nothing without at least six or seven players of rep standard. Bellamy had success by having a "big 4" with support players but the support player quality is now dropping off because they have trouble cheating the salary cap nowadays.

Ivan and Matt Cameron value the true worth of our players and never stand in the way of their payday, hence the loss of many club juniors.

I'm grateful for what each year brings and we all know that the competition is better when every team is coming after the Panthers. And most of the time it's by signing Panthers players to try beating us.

Compared to Luke Lewis yes. Cordner was a good first grader, that should have been his ceiling.

I used to not rate Cordner but the bloke always got back on side and took the tough hitups for both the Roosters and NSW.

He was a great leader and it shows in the undisciplined mess the Roosters are now.

NSW and Australia wasted Lewis even worse than we did. Picking bums like Josh Jackson and Boyd Cordner over him, ridiculous stuff
Like Lewis played a combined 33 times for NSW & Australia. His representative career was ending around the time Boyd Cordner and Josh Jackson were beginning there’s. I don’t see the cross over. Different era, Luke Lewis is 10 years old than Boyd Cordner. Your assertion is factually incorrect.

Luke Lewis played his last games for NSW in the 2014 series. He played a game for the Kangeroos in 2015 and retired from representative footy.

Cordners rep career was between 2013 - 2020 and Josh Jackson’s limited rep career was between 2014 - 2017. Josh Jackson only played twice for Australia (2014) and 9 times for t
NSW 2015-2017. Lewis only played 8 times for the Sharks in 2014 his season was ended by injury.

The selections of Cordner and Jackson had nothing to do with Luke Lewis, his representative career was largely over when there’s began. These are just the facts. In 2014 Luke Lewis played all three SOO games while Cordner played one, game 3 off the bench. He didn’t really start his time with the Blues till 2015.

Suggestions that Cordner and Jackson were selected in front of Lewis is 100% incorrect.

Lewis was the best backrower available to NSW from the moment he moved to the forwards until the day he retired.

I’m not in any way questioning his amazing career.

You suggested ‘bums’ ie Cordner and Jackson were selected in preference to Lewis and this just never happened. That’s all I’m pointing out.
