Great, let’s sack another coach after 18 months. Last time there were 3 applicants, sack Flanagan after 18 months and who are you going to get to replace him? Let me guess Bellamy, Bennett, Stuart, Cleary it’s not going to happen.
Should we extend his contract? I'm sure Issac Moses will be pestering us to get something done before the end of 26, right now he doesn't deserve an extension. Hannay would be my pick but I'm sure I'll get slammed for my personal opinion. Hook and Now flanno 2 old school coaches that promised alot and havent achieved much at all.

Love it mate!!! The thing is no one can answer who the “think”the next coach should be. Brisbane get Madge- same inconsistent results. Titans get Hasler- still shit results.

Yes, at least one NRL club (a rival of the St George Illawarra Dragons, where Shane Flanagan is currently the head coach) has expressed interest in poaching him, according to Nine. They are reportedly keen to sign him for 2026. Flanagan is currently under contract with the Dragons for another two seasons.

Slimy Moses behind the scenes trying to pressure us to resign Flanno before the season even began.

Getting back to the game.
LPT didn't play KOE Cup yesterday. I would say the young man will be named in place of Guler this week.
I would also give Lawson an outside chance of playing in place of "(insert name)".

And, just for the HC hunters, there's no indication that he is under any pressure, and quite the opposite there's talk of an elongated extension. Take that as you will.

Apparently there was a young kid who demolished the Magpies last weekend in reserve grade…scored 2 tries and set up half a dozen others…they should bring that kid in…let me check who it was…oh wait…it was Ilias…never mind.

Honestly DP, if I had more time I'd go back and dig up this exact post from you at this exact same time each year and bump it up this thread. You won't slash your wrists because, no the future is still yet to play out, so why get worked up about negative things that haven't, right??

Except the same signs are still evident that leave us languishing where we don't want to be. Please tell me if you believe otherwise. If the fans are being sold on a rebuild why did ANZAC day repeat and the follow up was a hot mess against a pretty lousy Tigers team? Our 'big signings' are already going backwards and each looking overawed most of the time...and the coach is now only able to give us a narrative a la the great Mary when the presser happens. Who, aside from Atkinson, have we got coming next year or the year after?

I have been fair in my assessment and I have acknowledged I am very excited at the prospect of Egan, Couchman and Stweart for the next decade but that alone does not make a successful team/club.

And, to return to you wrist slashing comment, by the end of each season when we are mathematically out of it, on our knees losing to the last place Eels again, giving up another 12+ point lead, coach screaming at his playmaker, you are here posting as angry and as miserable as anyone.

I am calling you out on this one. Read what people are reflecting on. Don't just post throw away lines because it makes you feel high and mighty.
I am far from going Pollyanna on our club and have been critical of the management , mainly that they are responsible for one of the worst rosters in the comp & no visability on who is responsible for recruitment & retention. I am hoping the new CEO has bigger balls than spider ever showed & demands professionalism in all management , or out you go.
We are in a holding pattern at present, waiting for the 6 or 7 juniors to come through but yes we need to be very active on the marketplace as well. The CEO needs to drive it. BUT I personally can’t see the point in putting the shit into the team consistently better than any of our enemies can.
Id assume most come on here to get news on the team & club & yes sometimes voice their disapproval ( it is a discussion forum after all ) but I would guess that most don’t come on here to listen to 100% bagging out on everything the club & team do.

Start with getting back to the game and then ending with that.. Back to the coach, He won't be resigned if we keep losing that's for sure. HC hunters.. that's a new one I guess differing opinions only matter too some.

Well said. Where is this new CEO, finishing up some more important work elsewhere I understand? Holding pattern for certain. Can't even show any urgency from the top , like we are some amateur park footy team. I mean somewhere along the way Dragons fans have been forced into accepting nonsense like this...meanwhile tick tick goes the clock on the next season, and the next.

Sorry, I am filthy on the club. A few things go slightly differently on the field and we are in second place on the ladder. Then, even though nothing fundamentally nothing has changed, I am happy, you are happy and everyone is excited. That's the reality as fickle as it all seems. You are never as good or as bad as the media purports (unless you are Penrith). Unfortunately we did lose those games so I am going to vent here because nothing is truly changing at the joint.

I am so hanging out to heap praise on the players and team and I do this I feel at most opportunities but it's about winning and at the least building to something and that's hard to see, especially when you look at the likes of Tamale and Latu rubbing our face in it.

You originally said we should discuss how we can win this game. That is what the thread is for I suppose.
How do you think we beat the Warriors? Can our players actually play to a game plan and sustain it for 80 minutes? And can they do it the week after? Am I expecting too much?

Flanno is starting to lose me as a coach and his selections give me hemorrhoids. Even so, Kyle HAS been better than Ilias this year. Something had to give and I hope Ilias lights it up because his ceiling is higher than Kyle’s, but nepotism is not at play here, move on

It's been the same crap for over 12 years now and at this stage with our so called Marquee signing we are worse this year than last year ......... Cook is a disappointment , Liddle needs more game time , Sloan has had more chances than most , Suli just runs straight has no step accasional bust but not good enough ........ LKT needs to stay young Flanno tries hard but hasn't got much ....... The young forwards are a breath of fresh air need to blood more ......... Our leaders are making mistakes when the game is there to win ......... So if this is negative then it is but it is true .........

Really liked how we used Suli with the inside line against the sliding defence, he was going full pace & provided a quick ptb which led to Liddles try. We should utilise that play more often. Klemmer was a mad dog with some of his runs, good signs. Stewart immense through the middle, a few more runs would be helpful. Holmes was rocks n diamonds, Allan solid.

Sloan & Guler were both poor. They should be replaced either by finau or lawson & LPT. Thought our halves were solid, Kyle bombed some tries but he was the only one with regular support plays. LKT had some beautiful passes, needs to run a bit more imo. Some very good signs & confidence we should take heading into this game, especially defensive line speed & force in the tackles. I'd say we played 40mins of very good football, build it to 50-60 this week.

Just curious mate, who would you suggest take over as coach from Flanno since you clearly don't rate him?
I'm not sure what the relevance of the question is mate. Myself and more and more Dragons supporters after each loss, have realised that Flanagan is not the man for the job. This premise that because someone wants the coach sacked, means they need to come up with a big list of contenders of who the next coach should be, is just absurd.

Can you honestly say you're happy with what you've seen so far from Flanagan as coach? If so, then how long does he get until you start to criticise? How much time do you think is fair amount of time for him to have a better than 50% win record as our head coach?

These are much more pertinent questions than asking everyone who criticises Flanagan to then put forward alternatives.

Finally in answer to your question, I think there are some old school coaches who could potentially do a better job and some new school coaches who have served apprenticeships under some of the best and would be ready for the step up.
Seeing as the old school approach has failed us, I'd be keen to see a new school coach take the reigns on the caveat that they also get full control over the management of the club as well, much like the things Ryles demanded when he was about to become our coach.
