Rabbitohs hooker, Cameron McInnes, will get his first chance to play at the Club’s Western Australian home of Perth this Sunday, when he and his men take on the Gold Coast Titans at nib Stadium.
McInnes has been named to start at hooker yet again, following some impressive performances in recent weeks, and the Souths Junior is now looking to transfer that into his first outing in WA.
“I haven’t played over there before, but there’s always a big crowd there,” enthused McInnes.
“The boys say it’s a great experience, so I’m really looking forward to it. By all accounts we’ve got a lot of support over there, so I’m sure it’ll feel like a home game.”
Despite coming off two successive wins against the Eels and Dragons, McInnes says that he and his teammates have much to work on leading into Round 13, but have benefitted from having an extra week off with the bye.
“We’ve got a lot of work to go,” admitted McInnes.
“There’s always things you’re working on so we just need to turn up every week with that intensity and that attitude. That’s what we’re building on.
“The little things around that will come, so that’s our focus every week.
“We had four days off (during the bye) – obviously trained hard at the start of the week and then a few days off and back in on Monday ready for this week.
“We take it one game at a time obviously, but we’re starting to play better and our little habits are getting there, so we’re pretty pleased with the way we’re heading towards.”

Goodwin Ready to Return Home to Perth

Rabbitohs centre, Bryson Goodwin, will return to his childhood home of Perth for the fourth successive season this weekend when the Rabbitohs take on the Gold Coast Titans in a Round 13 blockbuster at nib Stadium.

Goodwin moved to Perth with his family as a child after his father (former St George, Newtown and Wests great) ‘Lord’ Ted Goodwin, accepted a role with the Western Australian Rugby League before becoming involved with the now defunct Western Reds club, where Bryson was also the team ball-boy.

The annual trip West has proven to be a sentimental journey for Goodwin, who first played for the Rabbitohs in Perth in 2013 where he scored a double against the Warriors on the way to a 30-13 win.

“I love going back to play in Perth,” said Goodwin.

“I grew up there so it’s a special moment for me – I’ve got a few friends over there so I’ll catch up with them.

“Hopefully (we’ll) get a good turn-out there again and try and get the win.”

Goodwin and his men will come up against an enthusiastic Titans outfit this weekend that the Perth product describes as ‘underrated’.

“I think they’re a very underrated team,” said Goodwin.

“They’re a good footy team – they’re tough, skilful, so we’re in for a big challenge.”

Maguire: Origin Reps Back in Red & Green

Rabbitohs Head Coach, Michael Maguire, says that both of the Club’s State of Origin representatives, Adam Reynolds and Greg Inglis, are looking forward to getting back into their Club colours this weekend in Perth against the Titans.

The two players will combine in the halves this week after being named by Maguire on Tuesday to take on the Titans.

“He was really excited to get back to his players,” said Maguire in reference to Reynolds.

“One thing about Adam and Greg – they understand that they get these opportunities of playing at Origin due to the players they’ve got around them at Club level, so they’re looking forward to getting back in and seeing the boys.”

Maguire has been particularly impressed by Reynolds’ enthusiasm to get back into Rabbitohs camp ahead of this weekend’s game, noting that the Souths Junior will have learnt much from the Origin experience.

“He was really excited actually. To listen to him talk and the experience that he’s got from that Origin, I think it’s definitely going to grow him as a player.

“He was obviously disappointed that they weren’t able to achieve the win, but I think he’s going to come back a much better player from that experience, and to see him go out in the arena, I thought he fit in really well.

“He’s a quality player and obviously the kicking off the back of any set is a major key. I thought he was composed.”
