Round 16 Penrith Panthers v Newcastle Knights, at Penrith Stadium, Saturday 25 June
What lies ahead is often unknown. This Saturday night is no different. What lies in store? Anything is possible, given the dynamics of this match in the lead up
Last week:
Panthers [v Storm @ Olympic Park]: Finally snapped a 5 game losing streak, in quite convincing circumstances down in Melbourne. Played with confidence, as a team, and it was great to see.
Knights [v Sea Eagles @ Brookvale Oval]: Once again, finished on the wrong side of the scoreline, but the signs were encouraging. They never gave up, and kept Manly honest for most of the match.
This week:
With Penrith, it appears to be all about "the honour" being passed on to them. Given the unfortunate situation that Newcastle is in at the moment, no team wants to be bestowed the honour of being the team that snapped their 13 game losing streak. Along with it would come a form of humiliation.
But Newcastle has the team this weekend that could win. Their "X-Factor" is back in Andrew Johns. Any team that has the great man in there should NEVER be written off.
In fact, the Panthers need to be in the right mental zone in this match any margin of error could prove to be fatal. The Knights, with every loss, is closer to a win.
Penrith are coming into this match after a great win down south, and will be keen to keep the ball rolling as they keep their finals hopes alive.
If anything, it promises to be quite an interesting spectacle out at Penrith.
Prediction:
Penrith have the strikepower and ability to put another huge score against the Knights. But that will not happen. The Knights will be very competitive, and may even hold the lead throughout the game. But at Penrith, with a huge home crowd behind them, the Panthers should have a bit too much, and should get away with it. But only just.
Penrith by 4.
