Sooo many injuries for us this season!! As good as our first half was, and as the coaches have said the cause of our losses the last two week were the forwards was once again true . Just lucky we got by yesterday.
our backs five really carried this team tonight . Best game Suli has played with great early ball .
forward stats we should be worried about :

Klemmer leading forward 105m
JDB 102
Sua 96
Next best Fifita at 68
Guler 58
Couchman 49.

These stats alone should tell you the story!! We just aren’t getting enough go forward to lay a platform for anyone! Yes maybe Kyle’s kicks within our half need to be longer and try finding grass though as we seen in the second half, no forward platform halves are useless!
We desperately need an alpha prop, Couchman not an edge player as stats on the edge have been poor, think with his agility Deffs a mobile frf.

Saying that, depth will really be tested next week. Probably Hanagalu or tsougaris if Luch is out.
Toby & Stewart out!!
Sele & Loko probs close also. Sele played decent at 13 in cup yesterday.
Just keep on blooding our Juniors it will bare fruit.

We've had over a decade of underachievement. The spirit of the Red V deserves better. I just don’t see the culture or cattle to turn it around this season — and the schedule doesn’t help."
Injuries, Illawarra name , DY doesn’t help either.
That's why I hope everyone enjoyed last nights game it COULD be last win of the season, hopefully they'll jag a couple to avoid the wooden spoon.

Guler, Klemmer, lykan king and lawson.special mention boys I didn't know you had it in you.but come on injuries, injuries and injuries totally screwed us in the second half.so well done boys
As posted previously....'forwards win matches, backs determine by how much' Been that way for 100yrs. Good to see Cookie come out to support SF on that matter. Proud of our boys to hang in while injuries decimated our forward pack. While results haven't been great, our style of play has been infinitely more entertaining than what has been served up over the last 10 years.

What's that got to do with the rest of 2025. Most of those losses were under the Tutelage of shit coaches, Price, Mary, (Interim Dean Young) and Hook

2025 is only part way through and you've gone away from your enthralling 2012 to 2024 "stats" and resorted to the very unfunny old chestnut "GF tickets". What you should have said

"have any spare GF tickets just in case Illawarra make the GF?....NaNaNaNaNa"

You might as well have waved the white flag the moment you went away from your in depth research of 2012 to 2024 "stats".

I decided it probably wouldn’t be good for my mood if I watched the game last night so I spent my time in the kitchen cooking and making cocktails with my wife while the game was on. But I did follow the game every ten minutes or so by refreshing the forum page here. Checked in late in the first half and everyone was happy. I made another drink and told my wife that we were the only team in the comp who could lose from there. And as I kept checking back the mood on the forum certainly started changing! The only thing that kept me from getting angry was tiki drinks and the knowledge that I wasn’t watching it as it happened.
The comments were getting darker and then finally there was relief from everyone all round. Only the Dragons could get themselves into a position to blow that game….
Ended up flicking quickly through the replay later on. I thought Klemmer was good. Young Lykan is looking more dangerous each game he plays. Stewart will fill the JDB role with ease next year, he’s looking pretty good in that ball playing lock position. Nice to see Lomax hand us the win. The injuries are going to hurt. I don’t fancy a team in which Lawrie is likely the next man up.
Nice to get a win but the next few weeks could be ominous for us.

a great relief with the win ... a different story had the touchies flag stayed down on his millimetre line call !!!

the takeaway remains our inability to defend against a determined attack, no doubt injuries a factor but really our game tactics seems our undoing

Clearly Parra were going to ramp up a fast paced attack from 2nd half so KF bombing too deep, uncontested, making our defence cover too much ground, gave them space and played into their hands... as did our static-reversing defensive line we persist with... where we stand and wait for the ballplayer to get to the line ... is inexplicable.

SF and DY - Do better!

I think having only 1 interchange also contributed to the poor second half. They were all buggered

I'm surprised that you didn't write that the food you and your wife were cooking tasted bitter when you were reading the second half posts on the forum since77. Maybe it wasn't the food but the bile that rose from your gut when you thought we would be run down like has happened in a couple of other games when we led.

Like many of us, we know that while we look unbeatable in the first half, there is the complete opposite in the second half. What happens of course is the other teams throw caution to the wind, which wasn't that much at the ground last night, and they lift and make few mistakes and threaten in many attacking raids and possession seems to be 70-30 for most of the second half the oppositions' way which of course limits our own scoring chances. Thank goodness we did defend to the end and when Holmes picked up that loose throw by Lomax and scooted away to score that last try, the relief was at long last felt. Addo-Carr's foot I think might not have touched the sideline at the 63rd minute mark but luckily the linesman put his flag up otherwise the score would have been 26 all and who knows what would have been the final score.

I was thinking that had we lost that game after the fairly good lead we had, there would be a massive outcry on this forum and the usual "sack" posts of players and coaches would have been vented.

Things might have been a bit different had we not had the injuries and HIA's throughout the game. Anyway, the water under the bridge is still flowing and next week is another story. I'm sure that the food and cocktails you and your wife had tasted good and maybe even tasted better after the win, since77.

Tui last minute change for lawson against one of the most dangerous aerial players in the game (Lomax)

Allen HIA
Guler HIA
Stewart HIA
Luc Quad
Couchman dislocates shoulder
Cook does his ankle and hobbles second half

That is a war zone

I thought the win yesterday quite amazing actually despite just against Parra and not a top4 team

The constant HIAs and injuries was really trick for our rotations and lack of them

Guler and Klem stood up to a better level

the sharing between Cook, Gutho LkT and Kyle was a better flow

the isolating off more metres wider was a nice variation to some of tuck it under the arm type hit ups - we got good metres from this

the pressure around the team and Shan and Kyle etc was managed well in the end

Sua played 15min in the centres. Fifita played small minutes as he picked up an injury. Guler sent 15mins HIA. Couchman injured. Leluia injured. Hamish Stewart injured. You really need to be fair. Pretty hard to carry for more than 100m if you aren't on the field or playing in the middle. Really need to provide the stat as a "time on the field" and "time in the middle". Metres gained per time on field/in middle, otherwise very unfair. It was a very unusual game in respect to injury/HIA. Can't say I've seen it as bad.
Also, possession due to momentum due to injury and HIA and players having to play longer minutes and out of position meant Parra had a mountain of possession/momentum in the second half. You can't carry for big minutes if the other teams have possession. We didn't see the ball for the first 20min of the second half. Very brave win from the boys
Totally understand last night was a bit different to other weeks but if you look at other weeks same situation and we get rolled for the middle

That's what's so great about our Dragons forum. The optimism of its members is so inspiring

I have been dealing with a nasty case of what is known as the black dog a lot lately and even though the emotions following a sporting team make very little rational sense sometimes it can be the final straw when I’ve had a bad week. And for some reason this season the teams results are affecting my mood more than even during the truly sh*tty McGregor and Griffin years. So not watching last night was a bit of a self defence mechanism. I like cooking and I am a cocktail connoisseur so last night I just wanted to do things that make me at least vaguely happy. This is a year where the Dragons have rarely made me happy. On the other hand they quite often made me feel bad. And watching the forum melt down as the second half seemed to be going a way we’ve all seen before justified my decision to prioritise other things last night over a team that has served up so much shite over the last 12-13 years.
It does sound like they dug deep and hung on bravely. Thats something. But I doubt I’ll be watching many remaining games this year - I kind of feel like this club needs to earn my devotion and attention back again after sliding down to what they’ve become since 2009-2011. My heads already looking towards 2026 and starting again. It’s like Groundhog Day!
