Edwards was so fit that he was running up the hill at Jamison Park faster than some players were running down it.

He absolutely murdered the pre-season.

Let's see:

6 and 8 record, 0 wins against Top 8 sides, shipping 20+ points in a half to Newcastle and the Warrirors, shitty attacking plays, no improvement in discipline and handling, players going backward this season...etc

vs.

random unsubstantiated rumor about something that happened 5 months ago regarding a positional selection

Yes, I can see how the ledger is balanced now.

Oh, and still pissed off that people on here were talking up Edwards before? "Sucking his c**k" I think were your exact words. Bet you are hungering for a taste now.

Gees Billy, bit testy are we?

Did someone actually have the audacity to suggest there may be some form of reasoning behind the coaches decisions?

& just to clear it up to mate, it was about 16 months ago not 5.

If we can repeat the defensive performance last week we should jag a win.
I was going to write win comfortably but I can't see that in our immediate future no matter who we play.

Having reasons for decisions =/= good decisions. But you know this.

Plus, such an amazing coincidence that Edwards was suddenly ready the moment Cartwright was no longer available to play 6 anymore due to injury.

The reasoning doesn't explain away Hiku not being used.

Besides there's way more to the dislike of Griffin than the Moylan thing, @Panther_Daz has outlined some pretty stark stats in the last few days. If that isn't enough to question Griffin's handling of the team nothing ever will be.

Hasn't our defense been the second best in the comp for the last month? Wasn't our completions at 80+% v the dogs? That is an improvement isn't it? Wasn't our defensive display last weekend one of our best all year? Only to be beaten by a freak take against a top 8 team consisting of numerous rep players and last years Dally M winner?

Not at all. When he turns it on against a top team, sure. But like you mentioned, we have not beat a top 8 team to date. Although we might have if he didn't fumble the high ball over last weekend..

Heard an interesting rumour the other day that DWZ was being trialled at fullback at training in the first few months of last season (with Moylan at 6) but was struggling under the high ball even at training with limited pressure, so they ditched the idea and decided to wait till Edwards was ready.

Well something happened with DWZ last year. Griffin played Will Smith over him when Moylan went down injured in the trials and when he was called up for origin game 3 he went with Hardaaker at fullback.
Either an incident at training that concerned Griffin as you said or Griffin madness in playing Will Smith.
Cleary was always ready to play DWZ at fullback when the opportunity arose and I though he did a good job.

I don't care now as long as Edwards stays at fullback and Moylan/Cleary halves combo continues.

Hang on; not turning it on for a top team THE ENTIRE SEASON should not be held against Griffin, but not turning up against a top team SHOULD be held against Edwards, who has played four games at fullback all season and averaged 189.7 running meters?

Is that seriously the argument you are making? That is.... I... I'm speechless.

If we defend as well as we did against Cowboys, we will win, simple.

How much ball we'll have in their half will determine how much we win by.

Edwards, Mansour and all these nimble, strong players with the capability to make quick play the balls will be a nightmare for a shit for brains Burgess filled forward pack.

It's either we will smash through the middle every time or we get a shit ton of penalties, or at least be in a position where we should be getting penalties regularly.

Don't know to expect Cecchin to hold back in the game like Origin or just do a Cummins and be a total f***wit.

Kind of baffling that people are still looking for excuses re Griffin. Dallin wasn't our only option at fullback last season so even if that rumour is true it doesn't mean much to me. Griffins record speaks for itself, he is bog average if you are being generous. We have a great squad and yet we are nothing more than flat track bullies. Two wins against the broncos last season is about the only time we have beaten a good team with Griffin in charge. We've been lucky with injuries this season, so Griffin has basically been able to do whatever he likes with the squad this year besides Carty and Fish.

Edit: I will give him some credit for finally getting some improvement out of the defence. We still have to prove we can be consistent with it but if we can defend like we have recently for the rest of the season it will go a long way towards us making the finals.

It's June. Not September. That's probably why people are defending him.

The fact that you are going back to some random rumour from the start of last season to defend what has happened over the first half of this season says it all. We are over halfway through the season and still underperforming. Come September if we are still alive we will be playing against teams that we cannot beat unless something changes drastically between now and then, that is the reality right now, there are no shit teams in the finals for us to beat up on and have everyone talking about our potential and how good we COULD be IF we fixed our issues.

The rumour you posted re Dallin seems possible, but it means nothing in regards to our poor defence for most of the year, terrible completion rates, terrible 5th tackle options, our inability to score against good defences, our lack discipline, our terrible starts for most of the year...the list goes on. You talk about defending Griffin, How do you defend us sitting outside the 8 at this time of the season after having minimal injuries, zero origin players and two byes already?
