Round 18 vs Sea Eagles

It's a bloody joke really. We were all looking forward to having a full strength team coming into this match against the Sea Eagles and having a bye to get over any niggly injuries and bumps and bruises and wouldn't you know it, the whole situation is reversed.

What a shambolic outcome for this club. We go from disaster to disaster year after year. Has somebody put a hex on us since 2010?

Why can't this club have players who can use their brains and not their ... I suppose if they had brains, they wouldn't be rugby league professionals! Professionals? What a joke they are.

I cannot wait to see what the Club will do to these players especially Vaughn.

So instead of a quiet 2 weeks, we will see headlines of player fines, suspensions and maybe torn up contracts.

Sorry, this post should have been in the Negative Thread.
Vaughn has to go. Doesn't care about the club at all.

My team for Manly game. It's going to diffficult for Hunt and Sims to back up, especially Hunt being selected at hooker for QLD. But, I think both will play.

1. Sloan
2. Ramsey
3. Williame
4. Matt F
5. JP
6. Amone
7. Clune (goal-kicker)
8. Poasa
9. Macca (c)
10. JDB
11. Burns
12. Sherab
13. Ford

14. B. Hunt
15. Sims
16. J. Hunt
17. O'Ofou

I'd really like Josh Coric to be included, but he hasn't played a game for a long time due to injury, same was Max F and Bud. Maybe Sims can start, with Sherab on the bench.
Team is very light on for props, Hence starting JDB there. O'Ofou csn play lock, 2nd row and some prop but is on the small size for a prop. We could bring in Bryce Magnone who is a prop in JF.
I'm not sure if the part-timers would be consifered or even part of the bubble, seeing most would have a hob outside of football, so I hsven't included them.

Manly will be drooling. They will hit us hard seeing that we easily beat them in the first game.

Even without Tommy T and DCE, they will be a handful. But still we live in hope. Maybe some of their players will cop suspensions/injuries in the game against the Faders next weekend. That is our only hope of not being thrashed the following week.

It will be fair enough to be beaten, but please no thrashing like 66-0, maybe 24-0 which is still terrible to see in black and white.

Hypothetically, players get stood down for 14 days or are suspended, why should we play players from a competition that is currently suspended?? f**k that, so the nrl can keep their broadcast agreement?? If I was Hook I’d be saying “ f**k you nrl, not happening “. You want to stand down 12 1st grade players then we forfeit. Reserve grade haven’t played since June 19.
Yes they’ve broken the rules from both the public health order and the nrl but if no outsiders were there then they shouldn’t need to isolate for 14 days ( bubble not broken ). Smash them all with big fines 20-50 k each etc

Move the game to Sunday if the NRL were serious to allow the 14 day lockdown to clear ,,....

JDB now also caught up and confirmed

Pondering on selection options after the party hangover. Thinking that, excluding the host who is gone for 8 weeks, The other 12 apostles over four games means 3 stand downs per game likely limits the damage. If so, for Manly game I’d have Lomax take his- returning from surgery another week may be helpful to full recovery. Beale, only lately back to NRL and a rest again may help. One of the Feagai twins could slot in there. Last one for mine would be Ellis as we’ll need Alvaro against Manly‘s big pack. I’m hoping Sims and Hunt can back up for part of the game at least so might look like:
Dufty
Ramsay
Williame
Faegai
Norman
Clune
Lawrie
McCullogh
Kerr
Ford
Fui
JDB
Bench: Hunt, Sims, J.Hunt, McGuire

if we can’t drop 8 against Manly
And then drop the worst 4 players over the final 3 weeks then the

Next 4 games this is what I would do or suspend

Manly - Zac as he had not played, Fui and Beale
Titans - Norman Moose Kerr
Souths - Ellis Alvaro Blocker
Raiders - Dufty 2 x Jacks

In light of the sanctions etc, and for this game v Manly, I'm leaving 5 of the sanctioned players out, Those being, Dufty, Norman, Beale, Ellis & Alvaro

Team
1. Sloan
2. Ramsey
3. Williame
4. Lomax
5. JP
6. Amone
7. Clune
8. Lawrie
9. Macca
10. JDB
11. Kerr
12. Bird
13. Fui

14. Hunt (back up hooker/half)
15. Sims (back up edge)
16. Poasa (prop rotation)
17. Maguire (prop rotation)

Hate to backup the origin boys, but it's a dead rubber anyway, so maybe the intensity wont be there.

Getting 5 out of the way v a team higher on the ladder, may serve us better than waiting for games that are more crucial to our ladder position ie Titans and Raiders.

We could then drop 2 v Titans, 4 v Rabbits, 2 v Raiders

I would suspend Lomax this week to be honest. He’s been under an injury cloud, may as well give him another week.

Notes: Beale is solid and been playing well, give Zac another week. Hunt back from Origin the following week so we have an experienced half thar week in Norman and Hunt next up to partner Amone after a bench role to get up to speed. Try to get a lot of the pain done this week to be able to field a more solid team to try to beat the Titans.

Lomax had a wrist injury? I'm sure 1. players aren't meant to be drinking when injured and 2. how could his wrist hold the beer up if he can't even play games?

Did they say we had to rotate them over coming weeks
Id rather do as many as I can against Manly , sacrifice the game, and then just move on
but maybe NRL wont allow it all once

We have to share them out somewhat. The NRL will scrutinise each team selection.

We have not a full strength team all year so we are somewhat used to missing 3 or 4 players. Having said that we can't afford a single injury or one more suspension during the next month.

Personally I don't see us making the 8 but strange things happen.
