Wests Tigers Coach Tim Sheens has named exciting young talent Tim Moltzen at five-eighth against the North Queensland Cowboys in Townsville on Saturday, March 22, in round two of the Telstra Premiership.

Moltzen made an impressive first grade debut in the opening round win over St George-Illawarra Dragons last Sunday after replacing injured five-eighth Benji Marshall in the third minute.

Rocky Trimarchi, who scored a try in his first grade debut against Cronulla in round six of the 2006 season, comes onto the interchange bench for Moltzen. It will be Trimarchi’s second game in first grade.

Beau Ryan has been named on one wing to replace Taniela Tuiaki, who is out with a hamstring injury.

Todd Payten has been named at prop, subject to the judiciary hearing on Wednesday night.

Very happy with that team ! I thought they played quite a solid game last weekend, i know our defense wasnt great but it looked a lot better then last year... least we tied the ball up in tackles.

I cant beleive our injurys already, so hectic.

If Payten is out Bronson to start and bring in Tandy i say.

Oh does anybody know what Youngquest did wrong to be overlooked in both matches ??

Who do people think will be out two preferred wingers when TNT and McDonnell are fit?

Obviously TNT will be one. We also have Tagive, Ryan, Youngquest...

I think Macca may struggle to get a run in first grade this year.

if it was july we would be smashed off the park, only one fair dinkum frontrower(KG) but playing 8 backrowers at this stage of the season we might just get away with it. I can see the cows winning easy, goal line defence is still average and with Thurston and Bowen they have a couple of players who will test it.

But I did tip the drag queens last week,so my form is average

You would think Danny Galea will get plenty of game time
Get him to follow thurston all day and belt the karmichael hunt out of him

If I were making the decisions I'd have Tuiaki and Tagive. With our small pack two solid wingers are just what we need to get us moving off our own line. But I'm sure Daddy Mac will be doing his hardest to give the junior burger a run.

I think our turn around time, plus playing a night in the tropics will have a big bearing. Ball control will be bloody hard and due to injury we have a grafting side and probably a flashy style is required at this time of the year up north

HAHAHA, thanks I needed a laugh. If junior doesn't get slotted straight back into the side once he's fit I'll eat my hat.

Spank after his performance up GC Im struggling to understand any sense in having him in 1st grade.. when he gets a spot again I hope he can prove his worth but I think we have that spot covered in the new up and comers.

It's alright we only have the spastic for 3 more years
Lucky we re-signed him before the vultures circled eh

We are talking about rugby league here, not the European Cup soccer !!!
You blokes are dead set terrible judges of football talent, I reckon you better start waiting until after the game to have your first Calvin !!!

In about 24 games he has had one good dig. From what I see the que for Hogo job is getting longer and Shannon is near the back of the que and the same story for a vacant wing position on Bula and Ryans performances

Let me list the qualities of junior:

He's fast.
Average support play.

That last one took me 3 minutes to think of. And that's it. Where exactly have you seen his "football talent"? He can't tackle, his positional play is rubbish, he isn't strong, he can't read the game defensively, he's hesitant when he has the ball, the list goes on.

I don't care if he's carved up a few times in reserves, fact is when he's played with the big boys he's struggled. It's blatantly obvious.

Weren't you also one of the folks who campaigned for Sam Harris to play 5/8?

Oh he was that bad aye ?? Thats a shame cause i think he is normally quite a solid winger and nice and tall.

But based on what i have seen so far, when fully fit i wouldnt hesitate at picking Tuiaki & Peni as our wingers.

ps: i cant beleive we re-signed Mcdonell.... worst player ever !

No, I don`t think so, I wouldn`t have ever considered buying Sam Harris, neverlone play him first grade or 5/8 !
Shannon McDonnell made every junior rep side going in front of plenty of other highly talented footballers. Now his father didn`t have anything to do with picking these sides.
Now if we had a decent halfback who could utilise him properly, you`d see him be used similarly to how Melbourne utilise Steve Turner, plenty of kicks in behind the opposing defence to utilise his speed. This would inturn ensure the opposing outside backs aren`t getting in our attacking players faces and would be creating more space for the likes of Chris Lawrence. It`s not rocket science, but you`ll see exactly how it works once Matthew Head and Shannon Mac are fully fit !!!

So the best we can hope for is a poor man's Steve Turner? We're saved.

And the best way to use him is kick in behind the line? They're some Matt Elliott tactics there.
