Really good win by the boys tonight, one of the toughest efforts I've seen from a Broncos team. Hopefully those injuries to Hodges and Hannant aren't too bad (McGuire torn calf, gone for a while)

Points ~

Hoffman - 3
Norman - 2
Gillett - 1

Reed - Negative 3 (Is he fat and slow or is it just me?)

I wouldn't call him flat but he's definitely slow. I'd like to see Hoffman get a run in the centres and Kemp on the wing.

3 - Macca 50 plus tackles awesome effort
2 - Norman
1 - Gillett

I thought Reed was much better this week. Slid well on defense and challenged the line well. Needs to get his offload game and stepping game back in order and he will be dangerous.

Hoffman also showed brilliance that I haven't seen since mid 2012. I'm really seeing Norman show his danger at fullback too and it's nice to have 3 "play makers" when we are deep on attack.

Wallace was ordinary as per usual. They may as well just send 6 guys to the right wing every time he looks to receive it on the last. The one time he did something different we fricken score!!? -Prince played a good game and looked dangerous for the most part.

Thaiday showed good determination on defence and though the other forwards tho made some miserable metres for the most part, weren't missing many tackles. -Parker was our best I think for metres.

Macca seemed to be everywhere and I don't even remember hunt coming on?
McGuire is probably injured for 3-4 weeks -perfect timing for suspension
Stagg is looking more like a Teo replacement and Gillet definitely learned from lat week.

All in all very satisfied with how they muscled up and held on in the 55th when it seemed like the dragons could start to get the upper hand and we could begin blaming the loss on losing mcguire, hodges and succumbing to fatigue. No player out there should be disappointed with their efforts.

3. Parker

Hunt wasn't in the team. McC went off and Wallace went to hooker and Hodges FB. Something I was happy to see them try, pitty it only lasted about 30 seconds before Hodges got binned.

Also, McC has been robbed of a try both weeks now.

That was the best game i've seen Hoffman play. I think he is much more suited to the wing than fullback.

I hope that Wallace going into dummy half is something that we see more of. As a halfback I think he makes a good hooker...

Parker was the rock in the middle tonight.

Correct me if I'm wrong but in the first half, McCullough went off, someone came on (Anderson?), Wallace went to hooker, Norman into the halves, Hodges to FB and Gillett to the centres. (Around this time Stagg came on for Parker).

Up until Hodges got shitcanned, this seemed to work pretty well. The change was made was at the end of the long period we defended our line. After the shuffle, we were quickly on the attack. Wallace defended very well, eg stopping Weymann a couple of times.

If shuffling the team around was an effective ploy then more teams would do it, however tonight it seemed to work pretty well for us. Thoughts?

Guys as much as Wallace is completely ineffective in attack, he continues to be one of the best defensive halfbacks in the game. Seriously, how many strong tackles on Dragon's forwards did he come up with tonight..?

I feel bad for Hunt because I still feel he should be our HB (Wallace should be a hooker), but the boys did better tonight without him sucking up a bench spot. Hook's reshuffle once McCullough went off is innnovative thinking and I like it.

That's the brisbane broncos I grew up to love, sure we don't have the greats like we have had in passed time but tonight was all about everything that makes me love the broncos, even if they lost I would of been full of appraise for their effort, hard to find a guy out there tonight who didn't put in

Wallace, to Price, to Norman just seemed to flow so well and really got us on the front foot.

I like Norman at fullback in attack, just popping up when he feels like it, I think Hoffman should be bringing the ball back from kicks though.

I am seriously worried about his ability to defuse a high bomb or take a grubber or something like that under pressure, he seems to position himself well enough but whacking it dead isn't always the right play.

As I said in the other thread, not much to be unhappy about apart from injuries. Amazing effort from a team who were being written off left right and centre. If they can make that effort even an every second week occurance, we'll be in the 8 easily. What an effort by Hoffman. He played his arse off. Hodges shitcanning was pretty harsh considering what other teams get away with laying around in the tackle.

Good win but let's be realistic people. The dragons had enough possession and field position in the game to win by 30. Sure we defended strongly, multiple injuries, succeeded against adversity and had a bit more in attack last week. But we need to beat a bit more credible opposition to restore my faith. The twenty minutes defending our line when out of breath and our good completion rate was decisive. I'll say it cause i believe it and that is Hodges 10 minutes in the bin was bullshit. I've seen a million games when a player does exactly what Hodges did and been let go. The game has changed now if you slow the play the ruck or play the ball you're penalised which will make the game so much quicker so fitness will be a key as well as defence structure.

As I said we wouldn't be given much more than the team running around. St George should of won but aren't credible opposition at this point in time.

Three points to Gillett. I agree with Channel Nine commentary finally. But more so Gillett was great tonight.

2 To Stagg showed his endurance.

One although many players could have had it was Hannant. One of the best forwards in the game and should start every week.

The dragons had alot, and i mean alot go their way last night. especially in the first half. They could barely do no wrong, yet we still held them out and kept them to 6 points for the entire game.

To put this into perpective, these are the stats from the storm game v the Dragons compared to the Broncos v the Dragons. Storm and Broncos in bold.

Storm
Possesion - 51% - 49%
Completion - 25/39 - 26/33
Metres run - 1457 - 1134
Tackles - 281 - 282
Hit Ups - 151 - 136
Line Breaks - 5 -1
Offloads - 6 - 7

Broncos
Possesion - 49% - 51%
Completion - 32/40 - 31/33
Metres run - 1348 - 1518
Tackles - 362 - 326
Hit Ups - 161 - 190
Line Breaks - 4 -4
Offloads - 4 - 15

Not too bad really, the Storm only scored 8 more points than us against the Dragons and we held them to one less try. The possesion in the first half should have seen the Dragons up by atleast 12 at halftime, but they weren't. I think to many people aren't giving the Broncos players the credit they deserve for defending as long as they did on their own line. And the reality is there was a possible try that should have beed looked at but wasn't that would have been awarded if it was making it 28 - 6. The Dragons certainly played 100 time better than they did against the Storm too. So whilst yes there are still areas we need to improve on, credit where credit is due, well done boys on a gutsy win.

Great defence and our team stood up against the odds which is promising. I am still too negative towards the team. I just can't help it. Not a fan of the musical positions mid game from Hook. Either play McCullough 80 mins or have a bench hooker on the bench.
