Round 2 vs Souths

I try to be upbeat but I’m so disappointed with the poor start to the season. Realistically after the Melbourne game we could be 3-0. I was so looking forward to the 2025 season thinking they are going to make the 8. From here it will be a hard road unless there is real improvement and they become consistent and not dropping off during games.

I expected us to win by at least 18 points today. Coming off the Bulldogs game where we did pretty good against a very skilled and slick outfit and hitting a Souths team that was way under strength.

I hate to say it but a gutless effort springled with just dumb football, selections and problematic tactics.

I support the coach and believe that, overall he is doing a great job for us with lots of problems on his plate. I will have more confidence in him if he puts his hand up for this effort today as well as the players.

Luc Leilua - I might be wrong but he can't be in any proper physical condition to play 1st grade.

Blake Lawrie - Champion bloke I believe but straight into 1st grade, wasting 20 minutes on the field and then sitting on the bench for 60.

Lots of other issues of course but the above 2 really tick me off because Blake is not up to it and that is on Flanno in that he seems to have some blind faith that he will come good.

With Luc, he just looks out of nick and when the tough plays are needed he seems happy to watch them. Lazy is the word that comes to mind as well as a waste of some talent.

I normally look for positives but not too many today.

Dumb, lazy and gutless.

Sorry

My final thoughts.

Was very much understanding that this campaign could fall in a heap at some point this year but didn't expect it to happen opening two rounds at our home grounds.

The up side is we lost but even if we started with two wins, we were still never going come anywhere near contesting for a trophy. The losses are therefore irrelevant as much as they are of course preferable. We are making up numbers in this comp just are the likes of Lawrie, Ilias, Guler and now Klemmer will be making up numbers in our team.

Sua needs to stand up. Luc should not be played if it's going to be 25 degrees or more.

Avoiding the Wooden spoon could be the next challenge, the betting markets have that Red V as favourites for it. Only us fans were hoping a push for the 8, however the true reality is this club has a long long road before ever playing finals footy. The players purchases are just a band-aid, and will probably do enough not to come last, every top gun player new to avoid that Red V team, I am surprised V Holmes signed to begin with.

Luc needs to put both feet on the scales and face reality.....seriously his hair moves quicker than he does

Players like Holmes, Cook and Gutho sign with us cos otherwise it’s probably 1/2 years max remaining and on lower money. We gave 2 of them 3 years contracts .

Yep. Spoon contenders for sure. Today we lost from an unlosable position against half a south Sydney team, at home.2 weeks in we looked like we'd endured a whole season.

Doesn't really get worse than that.

Couchman and Stewart they have pride .
Yep, that is it, pride in themselves and the jumper.

Not overpaid nobodys that think they are the bee's knees cause they played a few good games now and then and are on huge money to match their heads and usually end up with 4 or 5 clubs under their belt chasing $$ on the basis of their alleged unrealised talent.

Well said, 2 young blokes with pride. Good on them.

Both teams had to play in the heat today....mostt of our blokes were walking 10 mins after half time....yes it was stifling conditions but our support play was rubbish.....how many offloads...I'll wait....the only thing we can take out of our last 2 games is our for and against...minus 9

24-12 ahead Val misses the kick, I knew then the comeback by Souffs was set in stone and the eventual win, however if he gets it different story, the life of a Dragons supporter

Yeah, a 12 point lead was never going to be enough, not with our current defensive deficiencies. There are still a few of our forwards who are either too unfit or just too old. I still think Luciano either needs to be in our front row rotation or even needs a spell, he cannot play 80 minutes. JBD should be playing shorter minutes.

We should have iced that game, thinking of a field goal when we were up by 12 or even when we were still up by 6. Our defence can’t be relied upon.

I know Shane Flanno is the chosen one. But how did he ever get it so wrong by getting Lawrie in FG? They were literally down a player. No wonder they were buggered in the end. I don’t think the halves were that bad. Just shit forwards who were more tired than they should’ve been
