Why would questions be asked of the Coach if Luai has a quiet game? Ivan isn't instructing Luai to hide in his shell and play without confidence because Nathan isn't there.

I don't see any confidence issues? He appears to be playing the same role he does all the time.

He has the 7 this time so hopefully that's a sign that the team will play differently.

Hopefully he lets burton and luai play a little bit more freely. Would love to see them both run the ball a lot, especially as some of melbs big forwards get tired.

But that's the thing, Ivan wouldn't of been saying to Luai and Burton don't run the ball. Its the strength of their game.

Burton when playing at 5/8 has looked at his best in the second half, when he was no doubt told at half time to run the ball more. He just has to start games with the same mindset.

If Luai doesn't have a f**king crack ill be pissed off. I don't care if he tries things and they don't come off but if he hides away again then serious questions will need to be asked.
He needs to be the X-Factor. This is what we haven’t really had since Preston Campbell.

He needs to take a “nothing to lose” approach, especially in Storm’s red zone, and unleash said X-Factor.

I think ivan is probably saying things like... stick to the structures boys.... which isnt natural for burton and luai as they arent organisers. Luai is an off the cuff specialist and burton is an out an out runner.

When nath isnt there it adds more pressure and they possibly arent thinking play their natural game

I didn't notice Luai was named at halfback. Hopefully it means he gets free reign across the field rather than being restricted to his corridor.

He should be everywhere. 1st receiver, 2nd receiver, should get into dummy half. He has to own the side

Not storm related, however, this "supporter" is a disgrace.

Luai was returning from an injury. Who knows, maybe a week too early to help the team out.

He can play a dominant half, did it in the SOO.

Lets hope we get that version of Luai this week.

He didn't get involved enough against Broncos considering he is now an origin winning half and was the senior player out of the 6,7 and 9. And that grubber kick he took trying to ice out the game but gave away a 7 tackle set, looked a very nervous kick.

But I agree with Girds89 that he has been the best 5/8 in the competition. So he may have just been tentative with his knee after returning from injury. Hopefully he had a blinder against the Storm and plays like he was prior to Origin.

Thats your opinion. I bet you asked his team mates and coaches who had been close to the best all year dylan wouldnt be far behind nath and fish. Ive heard it in interviews before, critta has spoken about it.

Im not a stats man but on average he is 4th in Nrl for avg meters a game in nrl and 9th for tackle breaks and not even in top 50 for avg errors per game where a lot of other backline players are.

I love brian, he on avg gets through 50m extra gained a week than dyl. But dyl would probably cover an extra 3 to 4km on high output efforts putting himself in a position to clean up kicks and fill gaps in the defensive line. All that stuff doesnt go on a stat sheet but its the stuff the players and coach notice.

He isnt a rhys wesser but in my time watching the panthers no fb has ever worked harder in attack and defence than dyl. Id be very suprised if he wasnt up there at the end of the year for players player.
Cleary has claimed Edwards is super underrated and one of the best fullback at organising the line there is in the game.

The grubber was a shocker. Probably his worst moment in first grade.

As for his involvement it needs to be much higher. I'm expecting that will change on Saturday night. Otherwise we aren't doing enough to work out our plan B (No Cleary).

Watch how we play. Our 7/Yeo/Api get the ball to where it needs to be and the Five eight/ FB just sit on their edge. That's just the way we play. Luai isn't suppose to go drifting in field searching for the ball too much. That isn't his job.

His touches of the ball will naturally be higher because being a seven it's his job now and it's Burton's job to sit on his edge.

It has to be when Cleary isn't playing.

We were also experimenting with Crichton/Staines playing fullback in set pieces earlier in the year. That is something else I'd like to see a bit more of.

No, but he might have to play to Ivan's game plan.
