The coach clearly had nothing to do with debuting 3 players and beating our bogey team. It's so obvious.

I think Kilkenny has a point though. The bench has been weird for most of the season and when a team finishes on top of you like that questions about its usage need to be asked.

But the way I see it, if a player makes three huge plays then misses a soft tackle you still say he had a good game. Ivan's still up 3-1 this week for mine.

It was looking very similar to the earlier game when we blew a 14-0 lead. Down to Yeo marking Xerri

Completely agree. To make the call like he did for a guy who is known as being loathed to make changes was a good sign. The way they handled it shows we will be ok for next year onwards.

If all get games that is. The squad was poorly balanced this year if done right then we won't need to apply for exemptions every time we get an injury

Too forward based this year. Before the year we asked who was centre if an injury struck. Seems Ivan had the same question.

Burton not signed an NRL contract yet. Nor has Crichton so no guarantee both stay. I think they will but never know til our squad is complete

Didn't the Gus fans say he was the one that got rid of Jennings and co? Now it was Ivan... Yep
Thats right... the coach has zero say in his roster. Ivan just sits back hoping the other guys make good calls for him.

Or maybe... just maybe it was a joint decision? Nah that's crazy. Ivan had no say at all. All he does is the bad shit. Anything good was someone else.

Didn't Gus get put out the door because he re-signed Jed without asking anyone else?

Gus did what he wanted. I think neither hook nor Ivan had much say in the squad

Ivan credit is due.

Kikau right side was weird. Then it became Kikau roaming which was very surprising. He menaced the Sharks.

Bench use was deplorable but otherwise he had a great game.

He was at first receiver to do that. Very unlikely he does it at dummy half having to sorry about the marker and not being able to change direction to help create the gap.

The angle he had was a big part of that break. People are using halfback plays to say he is a 9... even though that play wouldn't have happened if he was the bloke at hooker.

I think he could do a job at 9. But last night he did a fantastic job at half.

Understand he was at half, but the idea is him running at the tired forwards in the middle from dummy half. That exact play wouldn’t have happened if he was at hooker, but similar plays could where he exploits tired forwards.

Even if he never moves to hooker, he should try playing a little dummy half throughout the game to use the 10m to his advantage.

Gus left because he had no say in anything. Ivans return was dependent on that.

Hook and Ivan both had a say in their rosters. Its f**king absurd to suggest the head coach has no say at all. Both deserve blame/credit depending on how much you rate the decisions as far as what players left.

Hook brags about how he rebuilt the roster ffs... considering all the shit he blamed Gus for he never once said he had no say in his roster. Gus was responsible for the contacts. But he's not going to get rid of players or sign players without consulting the coach.

Unless the players have breached their contracts and need to be sacked.

When Ivan first came in 2012 it wouldn’t have surprised me if he didn’t have a lot of say in the roster. Gus had just been hired to clean out the joint and sort out the salary cap problems. I doubt Ivan had much say in that. Was happening with or without him.

I'm not sure if the dude in the den without a shirt on deserves a medal or a clip on the ear.

Either way he probably needs some water.

I thought I could see a guy across in the Eastern Grandstand without a shirt on but it was too far for me to be sure. What a maniac. I reckon he may have been affected by more than just alcohol!

Before Ivan was even hired Gus said Lewis, Jennings and co had to go it was cap decisions.

He did that with Jed though. Do you actually believe Hook is responsible for the juniors being so good? He was saying that for his future employer and too cause drama

Exactly most decisions were going to be made regardless of who was coach.

Only one player was signed in this squad after Ivan came and some guys are no where near FG. So shows the difference in opinion. That is the positive now all on one page

Yet history has repeated itself with Ivan doing the exact same thing this time around and Gus not being here to be blamed/get credit for it. Ivan did the same thing at Tigers aswell... must have been Pascoe playing hardballwith Tedesco, Moses and Woods

I suppose it's Dave O'Neil this time. Ivan certainly couldnt have any say in getting rid of players he believes are on overs.

The coach has input into his team and roster. He won't always be able to 100% get what he wants or else we would have the Australian side. But Ivan has been part of cleanouts and rebuilds the last 3 times he arrived at clubs and apparently had nothing to do with it at all.

Apparently while here he had no say in getting rid of Burns and Walsh to bring in Soward and Wallace. Or any say in the recruitment of Segeyaro, Whare, Idris etc.so really its quiet remarkable that Gus dumped so many players on him and he managed to take Goulds roster to top 4 and week 3 of finals in 2014.
