Good news.

Hook confirmed on Broncos.com that Parker & Reed will return. Glenn will shift back into second row.

I told myself I wouldn't get my hopes up but I'd by lying if I didn't admit I've grown more confident of our chances.

The Cows have been beaten. The road back to 4th is open. Expect the Broncs to play like men possessed....Hopefully.

Broncos aren't really in a position to worry about finishing 4th. They just need to focus on getting their s**t together.

Even though Reed has been in pretty sh!t form, I'm glad that he is back, if only to get our backrowers back in the backrow!

I agree with BP that ladder position should not be a focus. I'd like to see us get to back to the way we started the year; with excellent defence and attack good enough to get enough points to win the game. Our attack was never going to be brilliant with Lockyer gone and Wallace steering the ship. But at least we should have some attacking structure and coherence.

1. Josh Hoffman
2. Jharal Yow Yeh (Lachlan Maranta until Jharal recovers from his injury, if needed)
3. Justin Hodges
4. Corey Norman
5. Jack Reed
6. Peter Wallace
7. Ben Hunt

I hardly see how Wallace's lack of speed and overall goodness would be anymore suited to the wider role of five eighth where he needs a running game, I think he just needs to go. Leave the backline as is otherwise, Copley will be a very good 1st grade winger, he is a quality finisher. Hoffman to regain his form, haven't seen enough of Hunt but good signs so far. Norman will be a very good five eighth and I dont think is doing a bad job atm, just needs to fix defence. Reed for me is the only question mark as his catch pass game isn't up to the role of centre. Yow Yeh could be a possible centre? (as much as i hate how any good winger is immediately used a centre/fullback). I do like Maranta as well.

Also I'm still hanging on to hope that Jordan Kahu can finally stay on the field and he is all he is talked about.

That sounds about right, unless Hook plays Hannant off the bench again. That's the only difference I can think of.

Yeah Hook named Hannant at 8 and McG at 13 and then said with Parker back that McG would start off the bench. I think that's fair, Hannant has been close to our best player since origin.

I posted in the game thread in the NRL forum that I'm expecting big things today. I think we really need to send a message, much like Melbourne did last night against Penrith. I think we will come out today and blow the Raiders off the park.

Absolutely pathetic from the Broncos..again. At this point I hope we lose every game and miss out on the 8, simply because it's what we deserve after the last month.

Griffin needs to stop resting players during Origin, preventing players from getting fatigued and fading my arse..it happens anyway.

Stick a fork in us because we.....are.......done!

From being a strong 2nd in the competition to not even finishing in the 8 (will not win against Bulldogs, Storm or Manly). Has to be one of the most disappointing seasons in our history.

This is actually getting harder and harder to watch our games, really disappointing.

Pros:

Not many, I thought Glenn looked like our most dangerous player until he tore his hamstring, that's great news for us going forward. Gillett, Reed and McGuire all had solid games as well.

Cons:

I thought our main go forward guys looked terrible and tired all game (Hannant, Civoniceva, Parker, Thaiday), our 6/7/9 are never in sync with the 5th tackle plays, really terrible decision making all game from all 4 of our play makers (Hunt, Wallace, McCullough, Norman), our defence was really ordinary at times as well, our guys just look fatigued way too easily, maybe Hook needs to do a week of cardio.

Votes:

3 - Glenn
2 - Gillett
1 - Reed

I wouldn't say all game. Wallace's decision to turn the ball inside to Glenn (which is where he did his hammy) was such a poor play. We had another 4 players on the outside and outnumbered them. We might not have scored but it was the higher percentage play.

I am sick of this slump bullshit. It really isn't good enough from a professional sports team.

Most of the game*

Towards the end there we couldn't even finish a set off our playmakers were that far out of sync, so many passes going to ground and just awful 5th tackle kicks. I dunno what we need to do to fix this, maybe give up on this season and start shopping for replacement halves (I still think either Hunt or Norman COULD be a good player if given the time, but we can't really afford to let them both develop slowly with our veteran half Wallace playing the worst footy of his career)

One thing is for sure - If Griffin plays Wallace at Halfback again next week, we are done for the season. We should open the cheque book and buy a quality play maker for next season. Either play them with Wallace (ala Wallace/Lockyer) or, put them in with Hunt and bring Hunt through. He shows promise and vision every game, but is never given enough of an opportunity, or he's pulled off after one mistake etc.

I dunno, we certainly look incapable of anything ATM.
