After leading only 8-6 at halftime, the Vodafone Junior Warriors were right on their game in the second half with five tries.

Locke failed with his first four conversion attempts but kicked his last three to finish with 14 points.
Match details:

BRONCOS RUN OVER DRAGONS IN TOYOTA CUP

The Dragons Toyota Cup side have tonight suffered their seventh loss of the year being defeated 30-22 at Suncorp Stadium.

The visitors headed north to Brisbane with some added experience in the form of Chase Stanley. The Hurstville United junior dropped off the extended NRL bench and started in the back row for the young Dragons.

It was the Broncos who opened the scoring though in just the fourth minute through centre Will Tupou. After a bomb was put up it was left to bounce by the fullback Henry Raiwalui and after it went sideways Tupou won the race to the ball and he scored 10m in from the western touchline. Winger Jharal Yow Yeh converted to put the Broncos out to a 6-nil lead.

The Dragons were able to answer straight back in the eighth minute through Raiwalui under the uprights. It was off the back of a set play with Matt Mundine picking up the ball from the back of the scrum and put in a grubber on the first play which Raiwalui went through the line and scored. Mundine converted to level the scores at 6-all.

Kicks were proving to be hurting the Dragons with the second coming off a Jared Kahu grubber into the corner that Yow Yeh pounced on. He was unable to convert his own try scored in the 19th minute but the lead was taken out to 10-6.

The Broncos third try also came off a kick in the 25th minute. It was again a Kahu grubber this time directed at the uprights which his halves partner Ben Hunt who won the race to the ball and scored right under the black dot. Yow Yeh had no problems converting and putting the Broncos 10 points in front, 16-6.

From there until the end of the first half the game was controlled by the Dragons scoring two tries and levelling the scores just prior to half-time. The first came in the 28th minute through Mundine. The visitors got back to back penalties and on the second tackle of the new set the talented lock took the ball one off the ruck and stepped off his left foot that sent him over the line to score. He was unable to convert his own try leaving the score at 16-10.

The leveller came five minutes later through Raiwalui who bagged his second try of the night. It was a set where the Dragons just worked there way down field and the fullback just slipped through some lazy defence to score. On this occasion Mundine converted and levelled the score at 16-all.

It was the Dragons who had the final opportunity of the half but Broncos fullback Josh Hoffman made a good pick-up to prevent the Dragons scoring and the score remained at 16-all as both side’s headed for the dressing rooms.

The home side opened the scoring in the second half through hooker Andrew McCullough. It was just lazy line defence from the Dragons with the darty hooker just splitting the markers and crashing over next to the left hand upright. Yow Yeh converted to put the Broncos in front 22-16.

Just three minutes later the Dragons again levelled with Mundine scoring his second try of the night. A penalty again sent the Dragons down field and it was again his step that fooled defenders and he ended up crashing over with three defenders unable to stop him from scoring. This time around replacement hooker Cameron King converted with the score now at 22-all.

In the 68th minute the Broncos broke the deadlock through Max Dudley. A simple backline movement out the back ended in the hands of Dudley who went over untouched. Yow Yeh brilliantly converted from the western touchline which put the Broncos back in front 28-22.

The Broncos were able to extend the lead out beyond a converted try in the 74th minute through a penalty conversion. The Dragons gave away a penalty after making an error and then Rory O’Brien picked the ball up from an offside position. Kahu converted the goal from 35m out with the Broncos holding on to claim victory.

BRONCOS 30 (Tupou, Yow Yeh, Hunt, Dudley Tries; Yow Yeh 4, Kahu 1 Goals) def. DRAGONS 22 (Raiwalui 2, Mundine 2 Tries; Mundine 2, King 1 Goals)
