Macca was good in the first stint, poor in the second.

Hunt started poorly but got better as the game wore on. The issue is, he isn't a specialist hooker and he should be in the QCup playing halfback so he can be groomed as Hunt's successor.

Hunt should be groomed as the successor to.. Hunt?

Oh. Unless you mean he should be playing in the QAFL.

Edit - I thought I added more to this. That last post of mine is an example of when you have too many meds to combat a chest infection. I see what this forum is about though, one slip up and everybody is waiting to carve you a new one. Next time I'll be more careful. :p

Was hoping Gagai would come up so we could have Gagai Vs Beale round 82.

Although apparently Copley has been going well and probably deserves the call up.

I missed the first half but Copley looked ok to me, his try obviously being the highlight. Good game guys, some good performances lately.

Cheers mate.

Great game from both teams. You could clearly see Thurston missed game rythm, as he was caught out several times, but Bowen made up for it. He's back to his very best and tormented us all night.

Still, I think the better team won and the margin was probably fair, because a few Cowboys tries were lucky in their leadup, either through crappy ref decisions or lucky bounce of the ball. Likewise, the Broncos were lucky with the 2 runaway tries against the run of play.

Hoffman deservedly MOM in a game where our halves were below par, which can only mean we can go another gear in the next 6 games, and send Locky out as he deserves. I believe! Do you? :p

Thaiday, McGuire, Parker, Gillett and Te'o with very good efforts up front. Pity to see Gillett do so much front row work. Macca probably the best forward of the night, with a beauty of an assist for Hoffman. Glenn is clearly suffering from the returns of Gillett and Te'o, while Anderson still put in with reduced minutes and Hala gets a few minutes to gain experience.

Despite a few nervous moments and a real bad read on Bowen, Reed was good, Beale very solid, Copley still a bit raw, but Hodges was by far the best back after Hoffman. It's yoghurt factory night at Spwn's house!

McGuire and Thaiday unlucky...

3- Hoffman
2- Macca
1- Parker

Good on ya Didgi and best of luck to you and your boys in the future.

Stoked with the win and performance tonight. Great start with the boys playing for field position and capitilising on their opportunities with some well worked plays to the left hand side.

I'm happy to finally see a Macca grubber pay off, is that the first time that play has ever lead to a try? Either way, he's getting better with every game and I even thought Hunt was strong when he came on. I still believe he'd benefit more spending some time in QCup @ halfback but I feel like I'm beating a dead horse at this stage. If he can provide a genuine impact while Macca recharges I'll be satisfied.

The rest were just some good plays that said more about our defence than our attack. We put some good pressure on the Cows, which forced them to put in kicks that thankfully went our way and some long-range tries from Hoffman and Copley put an end to any hope of a trademark Cows comeback.

Also credit where it's due, apart from his knock on from that well placed bomb from Bowen, I thought Copley played strong and substituted well for Yow Yeh.

Plenty of wraps to go around tonight these are my votes for the night...

3. Josh Hoffman - 3 tries including a long range effort that got us off to a great start in the second half.

2. Andrew McCullough - Lead us well from dummy half and came up with some important tackles in defence.

1. Josh McGuire - Had a big test tonight and came up strong. Made a lot of difficult runs and did a great job of giving us momentum.

Wanted to give a shout out to Te'o. Not in our top five or maybe even seven performers tonight but I think he's a valuable contributor off the bench and has a lot of quality about him.

EDIT - Also Anderson. I'm tough on the guy but I thought he was also strong with McGuire upfront.

Congrats Locky, 350 games, you are a champion.

Hoffman has certainly kicked it up a gear the last few weeks. He was pretty good against the Warriors too.

Encouragement award tonight to Hunt. Had a couple of soft moments but had more good moments in attack and defence. Maybe saw a glimpse tonight of whatever it is they see in him that keeps him in the side.
Must say I have been one of the doubters. Not that I don't rate him. Nothing as viscious as some of the views I have seen here but tend to agree with the view that he isn't a hooker.
The game overall was a good contest that could have turned to the Cows if the Broncos had slipped up or softened but even with the basic errors that turned the ball over and the aformentioned calls from the refs that were just plain picky the boys stood up. They are slowly getting back the solid defence that they started the season so well with.
It wouldn't be right not to mention the Cows did play some lovely footy and I am looking forward to them doing some damage on our behalf come the finals by knocking over a couple of teams we would rather give a miss if we can :) (warriors, manly)
Righto, Who's Next?? :)

Both sides played well. With the win we're one step closer to securing a top four finish. Macca and McGuire played a lot of minutes which left little for Hunt and Hala. Hoffman first ever three try game in the nrl was deservedly MOM.

3 Hoffman
2 Mcguire
1 Macca

Just need to keep winning games and the rest sorts itself out.

I am super proud of the effort tonight. I was so disappointed in copely the clowns first few touches. If yow Yeh was playing he woulda intercepted that 1st try and stayed in the field of play for both cow tries. Wallace also is to blame for not charging up better on bowen & thurston.

Griffin will stamp this out I hope. Great work by all again tho. top 4 spot -HELLZYEH

Fantastic entertaining match. if the cows scored again the the 2nd half before hoffmans runaway try it would have been game on. So great to see we had some defensive resolve when it was needed.

McGuire stepped up again and Anderson contributed well. Macca just keeps improving which is great, and even Hunt played well when on.

Reed standing up Tate was great to watch and over the course of the match I'd say Reed won the battle. on the other side Hodges trounced Tonga.

Thaiday whilst quiet in attack had a stellar defensive game. How good was that tackle on Thurston when he was looking very dangerous.

Parker was solid as always, and was great to see his kicking radar back on kicking 7 goals and some good ones from out wide.

How akward did Copley look whilst running for his try. I didnt think he would make it but that short stride managed to get him there. After watching the 20's game last week I'd much rather him in the side then Gagai.

Halves were quiet but it didnt matter really. Our kicking game was much better then the Cows. Pretty hard to determine voting points as most played great.

Agree with you about Anderson. We needed both him and McGuire to stand tall last night and I think they both did the Brisbane jersey proud

and of course Locky........what a champion. His one on one, front on tackle on Tonga when it looked likely he may skip down the sideline was inspirational.

I'm not going to criticise anyone.......even Peter Wallace, although he made his customary couple errors for the game, gets a pass.

Finally got a bit more of a look at Copely. Yeh......the kids got the goods. He's not as fast as I thought though........looked like he was going to get run down in his length of the field effort. What position does he play in the QLD cup ......centre?

Thought Griffin leaving Hala on the bench for most of the night was a bit odd.

Hodges looked dangerous every time he got involved.....his defence on the right was fantastic. He's going to come good at the right time for us.

Hoffman........outstanding.

Dunno about Hodges trouncing Tonga. Tonga got the better of him on occassions and he didn't receive alot of ball. Broncos too good. All the cowboys tries basically came off two penalties in a row.

Tonga had it over Hodges. Reed had it all over Tate. Strange.
