Round 25: Who do we want to win?

OK fellow Sharkies supporters... the finals are fast approaching, and with the mighty black, white, and blue securing themselves a spot for the first time since 2002, it's important that we make the most of it...

Sadly 2005 has been very much a roller-coaster ride, with a string of wins, being followed by a lean period which saw the Sharkies with only 3 wins from their past 11...

Sunday's 62-point historic shellacking of Manly may have been exactly what the club needed in order to gain some much-needed confidence in time for the finals in just 2 weeks...

Unfortunately for us supporters, the Sharkies weren't able to hold on to a much talked about top 4 position, in which the club thought they had wrapped up 12 weeks into the season... and as a result, we must rely on other results to climb as high as possible in order to give ourselves the best opportunity(ies) for the upcoming finals series...

So the question remains: in order for the Sharkies to haul themselves up the ladder, who do we want to win this weekend's games? Below is my preferences...

Friday

Broncos v Roosters - Bares no real relevance to us, but it's definitely gotta be the broncs... As much as i detest both sides, there are 2 positives in the broncs winning. First, they kill off any hopes the Roosters still have of making the finals, and second, make it more difficult for the Scum to claim the minor premiership (and I'm sure most of us don't want to see that happening... ;-) )...

Saturday

Storm v Tigers - Should we manage to beat the Knights in newy, a tigers win here means that we overtake the Storm and move into 6th position, or possibly even 5th depending on how the cowgirls go... 5th or 6th means that we may get the opportunity of a second go at the finals should we lose in week 1, so I'm anxious to finish as high as possible...

Knights v Sharks - Absolute no-brainer here... this is the club's MOST important game of the year so far, as it will give us a strong indication of how serious our final's chances this year will be... A win and we start to build some serious momentum. A loss, and there goes 2005... simple as that...

Sea Eagles v Warriors - Considering the Warriors can't make the 8, i'd like them to beat the manly scum just to make sure we finish on top of them yet again... :D

Sunday

Bulldogs v Panthers - Who would've thought that 3 weeks ago that the Pennies are still a mathematical (and fairly realistic) chance of making the finals?!... Considering our belting of manly, the Pennies now have a superior f/a and a win this week and another sea eagles loss would make things VERY interesting... this is just an effort I have to congratulate, and besides I'm sure we still all have a soft-spot for Preston... Also don't wanna see the bullscum making the finals...

Eels v Raiders - now this one is a real toss-up... Do we want the Eels to win so as they have a better chance of winning the minor premiership rather than the Scum, or do we want them to suffer a setback heading into the finals (considering we are a fairly strong chance of playing them)?... I vote for the latter...

Rabbitohs v Cowboys - Similar to the storm, a loss here to the cowgirls, pending a Sharkies win, means that we get to overtake them and move a spot higher on the ladder... definitely Souths in this one, but hopefully not a week later... :p

So potentially after this week we could either be:-

- Highest position: 5th
- Lowest position: 8th (mathematically), 7th (realistically)

Thoughts anyone?

As long as we win I don't care who else wins.

I just hope we either play the Broncs in the first round of Finals. (so I can go) Or if not them Parramatta.

We can beat in the finals series
Broncos
Storm
Tigers
Cowboys
Sea Eagles
I say that with confidence but
Stains and Eels will be tough.

I'd rather play the Eels than the Tigers right now IMA.

And to get to the Cowboys, storm and Eagles will have to beat a top four side anyway.

Tigers will crash and burn in the final series, mark my words.

So will the Dragons . . . .

OK, that's is just what I want to happen.

I think the drgoons will be the hardest then followed by Parra. I reckon Tiges have peaked to early.

I want to play Brisbane of all the top 4 sides on offer. A) I get to go. B) They are injury riddled and lacking form. c) They beat us both times coming off the bye this year. Let's see how they go with the Sharks having a head of steam. But failing that- Finishing 6th (hypothetical) and knocking Saints (hypothetical) 3rd would be so f**king cool. I would probably need a week off work to stop laughing.

But yeah, lets win the next two games against two teams showing a bit of late season ticker, build our confidence (and for and against) and just see who is in the way of the maiden premiership.

I don't want us to play in the Friday night semi cause I could have to work.
On our day I can see us rolling any of the other teams except Brisbane if they hit their straps. One thing our way if we finish 7th. or 8th.: we have to win whereas whoever we play can afford a loss. Unless, of course, the boys would like their end of season trip to start as early as possible. Not for Nuts, of course. I reckon he'd like to be smashing them 24/7, 12 months of the year.

I think we will have to win our first game regardless whether we finish 5th or 8th. I can easily see the Cowboys and Storm beating either Brisbane or the Tiges in week 1.

If we finshed 5th and both of those sides won, we would be gone. The simple solution is to win win win.

Everyone is rating the Dragons as the team to beat.
I reckon it's the Eels , last week they were without Morrison and Tahu and also blew a few tries.
The dragons are starting to look a little vulnerable.
They may have peaked a month too early.
I reckon if a team got in their face and really stuck it to them in defence they would implode.

Bronco's up there sounds daunting.

Maybe Dragons in Wollongong knowing they have a life would be an easier option.

Farked if I want to play them though.

The Dragons will more than likely finish third, so all Saints fans are hoping you lot can drag your sorry arses up to sixth place (big "if") so we can take you apart in the home semi. Although while we were hoping for a tougher opponent to prime us for the major semi and GF, it still gives us a bit of a laugh beating you guys.

Dragons will get fourth. So it's probably either Melbourne (smacked your bums twice this season) or the Cowboys.

I'm expecting another laughable exit from the Dragons as was the cast last year.
