Btw barba has definitely lost a couple of yards.
Fonua isn't exactly the fastest centre running around.
Maranta hardly took any ground off him either.

Yes good effort. We were let down by poor 5th tackle options or should I say lack of options. If Bennett can work on Hunts kicking game then next year is looking promising.

Felt sorry for Hunt. Everyone will say he went missing at the end but I say it's bloody hard to put anything on when your fullback is in dummy half the whole time and your five eight wanders around doing nothing.

Agree with this.

Barba in my book will have to improve 50% next year, otherwise Bennett will swiftly sending him to ISC. If truth be told Barba should have been sent packing to ISC back in round 6-7. His attitude is extremely poor and he offers nothing in attack - and of course nothing in defence.

Last night he threatened to break the line once, other than that, just catch and pass.

Hunt played well. Equaled Cronk IMO. There wasn't much in it Storm just got the "rub of the green" or whatever that stupid cliche means. Take away the home ground advantage and things could have easily gone the other way. No shame in that loss though. Broncs deserve to be there more than Parra that's for sure.

Pretty gutsy effort.

Seemed like it was following the script when the Storm lead 12-0 but to claw back and draw level was very nice.

In the end, they just had too much class and the difference was a hail mary cross-field kick and a desperation intercept try.

Difficult to really be all that disappointed with the second half effort. Boys showed plenty of commitment, just made too many fundamental errors at pivotal times and didn't take advantage of the opportunities when they were there.

3. Josh McGuire
2. Alex Glenn
1. Justin Hodges - Lived and died by him. All things even, one of the most important players on the field.

If Penrith are able to beat the Warriors by 4, it looks like we would be playing the Cowboys in week 1. Hmm...

Hmm yeh I don't like that, I think we can beat them but I want the cowboys to do well too

McGuire was an out and out champion in this game.

RE Barba: I think he's slowed downs because he's put on weight to defend in the front line. In the off-season they bulked him up as he'd play a bit of a play-making role from fullback, and it seems to have cost him alot of speed.
Similar thing happened to Maranta last year.

Meh, stuff the Cowboys, Broncos all the way!!!!

One thing I am worried about, would it be possible in the NRL rules for Warriors to forfeit or to declare a draw without playing? This would give both teams what they want.

It is usual in lower grades to record forfeits as a 20-0 win or similar for for and against purposes.

Suspect there would be other provisions preventing NZ from forfeiting.:roll:

With Barba, it's more about what's going on between the ears than the gut. How can a player go from being judged the best player in the league, to someone barely holding down a first grade spot? A few extra kgs doesn't explain that.

One suspects his off-field behaviour needs some adjustment before he returns to anywhere near his 2012 form.

Maybe his off field behaviour is too good. We might need to move a few of his epic bender crew mates up from Sydney to rediscover the spark

Maybe it's up to us as Broncos fans to start up the EBC Brisbane Chapter.

I've heard it was more his relationships with Bulldogs team mates wives that has been the issue.

Let's not forget he had crap year in 2013 as well.

What a difference a fortnight makes for Barba. I kept waiting for him to run the ball but it didn't happen. The defence probably had a lot to do with it with our forwards unable to punch any holes through it. Having Sam would have helped. We really lacked any creativity when we did get close to their line. I didn't expect us to win but I did expect a better effort physically and creatively.
In reality we have limped into the finals, relying on all the results going our way two weeks in a row and we will get hammered by the Cowboys who have beaten the top 3 sides this season.
I'm excited about next season though, bring it on!

Difference in class and aggression was pretty evident. Brisbane haven't been killers for a good while.

McGuire 3
McCullough
Hunt 1
