Gutsy win by our blokes......two things need to be sorted, .1. I know its early in the season but how many times do we keep getting caught with the ball on the 5th tackle and 2. When we finally do put one up most of the time we are nowhere to be seen when it lands.....in my opinion and I've noticed young Illy doesnt give the ball much air .....anyhow am rapt we got the points today
Getting caught today on the 5th was probably a strategy given the weather.
I think we challenged more often today than we had in the first 2 games

Reflecting on the game. Was out and about on family duties today but did watch live... and how bloody good was it, despite the heart pounding for the full 80mins !!

Like all the teams we've played so far, a Melbourne Storm outfit is never going to beat themselves (and they make sure of that by being constantly at the refs and touches). After being the first to score a four pointer, we just needed to get to the break. Again, always in the contest.

Defence on our goal line today was absolutely outstanding. However if I have one criticism, our line speed and going to the attackers when we had them down in the red zone needs to be better (this stop & stand stuff has had me really concerned).

Ilias long kicking game was really good. I think we need to keep his game really simple for the time being. Get those kicks away. In attack, run, draw and pass.

I could almost shed a tear - it's been a long time, but we finally have a junior forward who is potentially going to play a lot of games and become a fan favourite + a club great. Dylan Egan - outstanding debut ! The rest of the boys clearly like playing with him and will no doubt be doing everything to help him succeed.

I'll stop there - probably have more thoughts later.

But how bloody good - second win on the bounce against the grubs from Mexico. 25 years of hoodoo we may finally be able to put behind us. Flanno clearly knows, and has proven experience, in getting his teams up for games against them. Maybe we can make them our b**ch for the next 25 years now?

I’ve said it before and I’ll say again. Referees and in particular Gough are literally orchestrated the outcome of games with these subjective 6 again tackle counts.
My beloved game has been turned into an orchestrated fake wrestling show. Penalty count was 5 - 1 at halftime. The cheating storm were holding down players every tackle after the tackle was deemed completed. And never got penalized.
How does NRL justify this one side penalty
nonsense?

You and I both know that’s usually how we roll!
I think people are being a tad unfair to Cooky. He is starting and that is a tougher gig than coming in fresh. I am a huge fan of Liddle and Flanno had to buy in another dummy half as Liddle couldn't provide his dangerous attacking contribution playing the full 80min. Cooky was the best available and now him and Liddle can provide an awesome 1, 2 punch. Flanno mentioned that Liddle had a shitty preseason due to hand surgery. Cooky made quite a few incisive runs and thrice should have earned penalties. Twice from markers not being square and a third for a high shot. Both Liddle and Cooky are providing excellent contributions

I bumped into Lomax and told him to get back on the wing.
and after the game Papi come close to fence where I was standing, I called out hey Papi, get hair cut, meanwhile Munster was staring me down 🤣🤣

Angus gave me the finger once as a payback to some short sledging.

I told him he’d been rubbish since he left south’s.

All part of the theatre.

I deserved it and laughed out loud, then he went on to destroy us!

I shut up after that.

One thing I’ve noticed, I can’t remember Lachlan Ilias run the ball at all.
I realise he is coming back from a bad injury, and maybe I’m old school, but your halves have to run the ball every so often. Anyway, that’s an area that will improve his game and the team once he feels confident to reintroduce that..

He had some good stats, but I don’t think he’s the long term answer. He has a few chinks in the armour.

But it was the whole side lifting today. Grinding it out for a tough win against the best team in the league.

Today we witnessed What Gurtho means to us if he can stay in this shape
Barked all day, was in refs face all day, something we have lacked for a very long time

Very few players seem as happy and settled in their new surroundings.

I like his leadership style. It’s not all about him. He’s very team focused.

But once again, this is a massive outcome for Flanno, he’s the one who instilled the steel into the defence and lifted the guys.

There were a few times early on when the panic could have set him but everyone rallied and steady as she goes.

A couple of players like Lucy played really well. Quiet achievers.

Geez, these boys know how to keep us on edge for the whole 80.

Fantastic game, incredible D with no dumb lapses.

Gutho the man and our rightful captain (let's let that silly challenge slide this one time).
Liddle, hero.
Sua, great.
Klemmer did all he needed to do.
Luc played a role.
Egan, take a fkn bow lad! Can't remember the last time one of our juniors debutted like that!

Watched the team song back to back as the occassion called for it... on to next week!
