Good post mate, Gutho was the one who deserved the victory today except our imbeciles couldnt deliver it for him. Now on NRL the write up is how Lomax won them the game.
So you want them to lie in the write up.
The bloke was on one leg and kicked them to victory that's what I thought I saw.
Then at full time I saw he was interviewed with the biggest grin I have ever seen from Zac and then start tearing up at the realisation he just won the Lomax/Gutho cup.
Maybe he was thinking Flano is looking at the screen

Hi All thanks for various comments and perception of the match.

It is hard to take being beaten by 1 point in two matches when getting more than a try ahead.

Lachlan Illes isn’t a halfback in my opinion. I was never positive about this signing. Look he made it into the NRL in two teams ( south’s n us). That’s a credit but his ability is limited.

I have only seen young Glover in highlights and he looks very sharp with terrific speed. I love fast halfbacks! Also fires accurate bullet passes. A couple of posters have pointed out he is not much chop in defence. Any further opinions on young Glover?

Lachlan is our best half by a long way and yes he kicked out on the full when it took 10 years to give him the ball.
Overall his game was solid with some solid defence.
Glover was impressive today, so its up to flano but i believe it won't help us be a better team.
If flano thinks we are losing because Lachlan is the problem and not the other half then drop him and give Glover the reins.

Yep you are right mate, as I said he had a lot of helpers in wrecking that game, the kick out was the last straw that broke the camels back.
In the last 10 minutes of normal time, and in extra time, our forwards weren't making as many metres as the Parra forwards. This meant that Ilias was having to try and make more metres with his kicks. He did this well throughout the game, but, unfortunately in extra time after a particularly poorer metre gain set, Ilias knew he had to kick it further. Similar to when you try and swing a golf club harder, you are more likely to muff it.
Ilias' muffed kick is a by product of our obvious lack of an Addin Fanua Blake type chewing up valuable metres. Junior Paulo was making huge metres and then supplementing it with an offload which then got them even closer to our goal posts. Remember Zac's forwards were getting him within field goal range with ease on 3 occasions and he had 3 field goal attempts to our one. Our forwards (and particularly, the lack of one or two alpha metre eating/offloading middles) is what lost us that game. Give our halves a better pack to play behind and I guarantee they will perform so much better. The best halfbacks would struggle playing behind our pack.

I was at the game today so please respect my entitled opinion

Yes Ilias is trash and should’ve been drowned at birth , but bloody hell our fowards are rubbish. Wasn’t until I got home and watched replay on kayo I realised how bad it was. We were making 28-35m per set and letting Parra get 60+ on most sets.

why on Gods green earth do we have TS taking yardage hit ups on 2nd and 3rd tackle. Getting out wrestled and pushed back every time.

We have no idea how to apply pressure and keep it on. It’s not all doom and gloom, we aren’t getting smashed but are losing all our close ones which is infuriating.

Ha ha Damien Cook is one of the worst hookers in the competition. Unbelievable how his signing was talked up as some huge coup. His shitness turned the contest dramatically. Last tackle, we're 40m out from our own line (20-8 up, all momentum in our favour) and this imbecile decides he's going to have a scoot from dummy half himself, which then results in him losing the ball. Eels score that set. That was the turning point. The bloke is so f**king shit. Liddle has to take his jersey.

Flano again must be questioned for his selection of Blake Lawrie. It is clear Flano knows how useless he is from the bench rotation, but that should mean he is NOT an option to play. Even if Loko debuting would've meant three young blokes playing, it had to be done out of necessity due to injury/suspension. Lawrie is not an option to play. To pick someone you can't actually use is just f**king stupidity from Flanagan. Picking someone who could've actually helped in some way is ironically what would have helped the other young boys more. Picking Lawrie meant they had to pick up the slack coming off a bench who basically had no front rower.

Ilias.. another one who gets unfathomable levels of support. He f**ken sucks. Said in the off season wait until he starts kicking it out on the full all the time. Does it at one of the most crucial times in the game.. would be funny if it weren't so painful. There will be plenty more of those from him this year. Bloke is the worst halfback in the NRL.

Kyle Flanagan.. don't get me started, bloke sucks, possibly will be his father's downfall.

Leilua unsighted..

Sloan is deadset scared of contact. I've given up on him, he's done. To not finish that try is deplorable, errors all the time. He just doesn't want it. Tuipolotu equally as shit and I'd drop him first of the two wingers to be honest. Finau is so much better. Hopefully Lawson kicks on and we can be rid of Sloan by mid year. Big mistake letting Tamale leave to now have these two donuts in the team.

Val's collecting a pay check

Hopefully this wakes some more up to how far off we actually are and that we cannot afford to have players like Kyle, for instance, in the side if we want to go anywhere. These players suck, excuses and rationale need to stop being made up for them.

One last criticism, that left side sweeping play we do (which is going to become so predictable) seems like it has to be the be all and end all. Why, even when it's not on, do we continue on with the play anyway? The opposition will have marked up correctly and yet we'll still force the pass into the corner, and our winger either gets trapped and bundled into touch or we throw it over the sideline. Do they understand you don't have to score on that play? Rant over for now, f**k this team.

Gutho and the young boys, hold your head up high, the rest can get f**ked

I admire your passion. But your comment, 'we can't afford to have players like Kyle' is the point. Kyle is exactly the kind of player we can 'afford'. I'm pretty sure our players and the coach know their limitations. Why can't our management put a decent roster together?

The same issues that haunted Flanno last season are still there. The names have changed but the results are pretty much the same. Early days this season but f**k it's frustrating supporting this club. We could be 3-1 and have such a positive feeling about finals prospects, but instead are getting back that all too familiar feeling of being behind the 8 ball and hoping we can sign decent players to buoy our hopes again.

For me Cook has been a disappointment ...... Sloan on the wing also ......
100%..... as for Cook the writing was on the wall when Bennett wasn't interested.....tbh Lidds game has suffered alarmingly, he's nowhere near the player he was in 2024 imo.....as for Sloan I'm not sure what his contribution to the team is now....compared to the likes of Saab, Hopoate, Warwick, Coates and Cobbo to name a few he's nowhere near these blokes and what they bring to their respective teams.....I rate both Liddle and Sloan but imo they are fast slipping out the back door

Certainly we need the forwards so perhaps look within, we have no choice at present. Loko, Latu etc, just no more Lawrie.
The first one point loss was hard to take but this one!! We are competitive and I think better than last year but hey, we all knew we’d struggle without a star big forward. We need to see more of our halves other than the high kick. Stick with the mighty ones, we aren’t getting flogged, just need some luck too, just like Parramatta yesterday

This is just my opinion , but our centres wingers fullback 6 & 7 , let me rephrase the whole backline have no chance of scoring long range tries ......... When was the last time Suli , or our wingers beat a player and made 50m or gone on to score ....... ? Our 6 and 7 in attack hopeless , so for us to score tries they have to be 30m out and play a structured play so if our forwards don't get over the advantage line and into the opposition half , then we have nothing ......
