Canberra didnt drop a ball in the second half? Wow. They were on about 40% in the first.

Full credit to them I guess, they were playing desperation footy and doing it perfectly. Would have been nice to see the same defensive commitment from us that we've had for the last couple of weeks.

according to the foxsports stats... i thought it sounded suss as well.. cant remember them dropping it. maybe one error on the 5th but i guess that counts as completed.

What did we think of Oldfield tonight? Can't help thinking that Topou would've diffused that bomb tonight with his better reach and all. BTW, where was he tonight?

First half wasn't great either guys...I know we lead 16-0, but at no time did I sense we were dominating the contest.

They had most of the field position and were making easy yards up the middle. The only things that helped us was some good edge defence and their woeful ball control.

Second half they completed all their sets, we dropped off and the game was theirs.

Not concerned about the short turnaround, think it will actually be good for us.

The momentum really seemed to turn when mini dropped the ball (easy one I might add), can we drop our captain? RTS is wasted on the wing! LOD should be dropped, Oldfield adds nothing to the team, Tupou imo has far more potential. The combination between him and Jennings is far better.

SKD is just lucky Moga is injured. I'm not concerned about the loss, but it was one we definitely had in our hands at halftime.

I don’t think a 2 point loss away from home after 3 wins on the trot is by any means a concern but we shouldn’t let 16 point leads slip and it is the 2nd time this year it has happened (well it nearly happened against the warriors).

I have figured out why 0 points against is so important for us, once 1 try is conceded a 2nd and possibly 3rd follows within minutes. The first try conceded was a nice little play by Canberra and on its own no concern, then Williams of all people walks through our line 2 minutes later.

Having said that, if that ball from Maloney to Pearce doesn’t get batted down by the Canberra player then it is game over so a little unlucky there and Maloney did hit the post with his one missed conversion attempt.

SKD should definitively never pass ever again, it should have been a penalty the ‘pass’ he through.

I couldn’t help but chuckle at the fact that Canberra became the latest team to magically improve their discipline just in time for a roosters match. We conceded 6 which isn’t diabolical but probably 2 above a decent average. Canberra conceded 24 over the 1st four games yet the refs could only fault them twice in this game, once 3 metres out from their own line and the other a blatant kick of the ball whilst our player was trying to play it that one ref didn’t want to give. Not once did they make an infringement the multitude of times we were working the ball from our own area... apparently.

Quite simply we deserved everything we got. The only positive I suppose was only losing by 2 when we played as poorly as we did. It frustrates me beyond belief that we cannot sustain pressure and find the in goal more often (admittedly we didn't have good field position for most of the match) but yet we always seem to be dropping out of our own area.

Mini, as much as I love him, needs to stay away from a playmaker's role. A couple of his passes were embarrassing (he cannot throw a torpedo pass to save himself) and he only seems to clog things up in the backline when he becomes involved - he needs to be a support player only (& he struggles with catching in this regard as well).

I'm with Valheru about penalties. I don't disagree that we have issues with discipline, but the way other teams magically become "disciplined" against us happens far too often.

By the way, who else is more worried up when we are up 16 nil than if the scores were level....

I'm not too bothered by it, completely outplayed all game. The score at half time was a minor miracle, played terribly the whole half then somehow stumbled towards their line and scored a few times. If the effort was there in the first half but switched off in the second it would annoy me, but really it was just the same thing only without taking advantage close to the line.

Also LO'D is terrible

Yes with a 16-0 HT lead we should've shut them out but credit where it is due, the Raiders never quit and congrats to them for it too.

Unfair criticism Mini on that dropped bomb - it was a tough spriral bomb missing the left upright by millimetres which would've put him off even further.

LOD needs to go, just not up to NRL standard footy anymore. I've just about had enough of SKD too.

LOD and SKD were flat out embarrassing last night. Losing Cordner didnt help, but our bench looked a little small, can we afford to carry Morts and Aubo on the bench particularly when we were playing a side with one of the biggest packs around like the faiders

How did your new recruits SBW/Maloney/Jennings perform?

SBW was excellent. Not too many forwards in the game could lay that try on for Mini like he did, even Raiders fans sitting near me last night just went wow and applauded.

Maloney was solid, Jennings was contained well by the Raiders and had a quiet game.

It appears you still have a soft under belly, and unless you can prove you can grind a win from these type of games other clubs will treat you with contempt. Souths were in the same position as you were against the Warriors and we held steadfast and out muscled them to take the points. This week the Dogs will prepare an all out onslaught, it will be a season changing game for them, so expect a tough day at the office.

We ground out a win against the Warriors too.
I'm not that worried yet as I had already written off the first half of the year. We're going to lose a lot of games and it's going to be frustrating but the signs of some greatness are there.

:lol: $ouffs got owned by Warriors for 80 minutes, Warriors set up 2 tries for $ouffs and the refs set up a 3rd. $ouffs without another level to go to... just got Panthers Dogs and Warriors, The season is 26 rnds and many teams are improving.. How many points is that have $ouffs have conceded?

in defence of mini that was a tough catch, his pass on the other hand.... mini just needs to run support and bash the ball back, leave the ball playing to those who can pass..

SKD's pass was embarrasing i know its been covered in other threads but my god he is one dim f**ker..

100% completion rate for canberra in the second half did us... that and one ruck penalty in the whole game

It's not the first time we've not been given any assistance by the refs is it?

The last time we won more penalty counts than we lost was 2004
We have had tied seasons in 2005 & 2007 - the previous year we had a season where we won more penalty counts than we lost was 1999. That two seasons in fifteen years!

Our penalty differentials over the seasons since 2007 have been
-37
-50
-46
-17
-26
-9 so far this season after 5 games

But it's not the penalties against us that piss me off - more often than not the penalties against us are warranted. What pisses me off is that when we play only one team is being refereed.

Souths got penalised twice against us in the first round
In the following week they got hammered something like 10 to 14 times against Cronulla. Teams don't suddenly go from being Angels to Demons in a week.

Canberra got penalised twice against us last week - watch their penalty count this week

This happens time after time after time.

Beware the week after playing the Roosters. What you got away with last week will not be tolerated a week later.

I thought we got away with a lot against Canberra in the first half tbh. Refs let us have a go a bit.
