While I believe it's best for Reed's long term development and welfare to spend some time in reserve grade playing against men before we throw him to the wolves you do make a good point here. The Titans were there to be taken in the first half. I agree that a combo of Reed and Atkinson would have scored at least three tries in that first half with all that possession and we probably skip away to a big half time lead.

Unfortunately Atkinson has been there done sweet FA couple of great moments and lots of errors , stats don't lie . Missed tackles , missed kicks , dropped balls , bad passes , bad decisions , i'm hoping it's just nerves because to much weight has been put on his shoulders . Imagine if his last name was flanagan , he would have been linched by now LOL . I hope he comes good i think it's in him to be a great 5/8 . But i'm not going to go out on a limb and say if we did this or this person played this would of happened because that would just be speculating and i'm not a wizard with a crystal ball . But i agree that if we throw Reed out there it may go pear shaped and we lose our future trump card or chances are he kills it . It's a massive gamble to take for a coach or club at this level . It just can not be taken that lightly to please us supporters , this is his career / future life we're talking about . I think on the scale of things keeping us poor old dragons tragic's happy is not as high on his or his management's or the club's staff priority list as we would like it to be , yes we're important as any sports team without supporters is screwed but there's more to it much more .

Sloan is a perfect example of this . He was killing it , then Griffin threw him to the wolves against a cracking sharks side in torrential rain . He had a shocker and then Griffin gave it to him in the shed after the game in front of everyone . Confidence gone , never been the same since he could have been anything . Very sad very big loss .

I couldn’t agree more. You need to have an effective running threat in a 5/8 to open up gaps for the centres and we haven’t had that with Kyle. Get Reed in there to organise and let Atkinson play his natural game to open up our backline.

Obviously I've already paid for a membership so that money's squandered... but I'm still saving potentially hundreds of dollars in fuel, exorbitant food & drinks at the game and possibly several schooners at the club as I attempt to drown my sorrows again. Heading to the game on Saturday down from Maitland with grandson and daughter. It's the first of our members games at Kogarah. In the immortal words of Clubber Lang, "I predict pain! Lots of pain!" I hope I'm wrong but not seeing many rays of hope atm.

I assume you are saying you won't be at the game but if we are going to win, a rocking, nosiy, parochial Kogarah with no Cowboy supporters in sight is going to be a huge boost to the boys to stop our unwanted winless record.

I admit I may be reading more into Reed's outstanding trial game against Newcastle than I should, but he outpointed a pretty good, seasoned half back in Sandon Smith, and, in the process showed he was an out and out half back. He has the speed, guile, vision, kicking game and game management than poor old Kyle will never have and that Atko also seems to lack. Atko has a big boot but is yet to show any signs of a shorter kicking game- grubber into the in-goal, chip and chase, strategic 40/20 attempt etc. It's all been 5 up the guts and a bomb of varying accuracy. Boring and predictable.

I know that some are concerned with Reed being injured but the increasingly common occurrence of head clash of Kyle with Buchanan shows that the modern game of Rugby League with multiple players running in to shut down a ball runner carries with it risk that goes beyond the size of participants.
