PtB, Parker actually suffered a nasty cut close to his eye as a result of Myles' kick. After the game Parker spoke out about the incident and actually said it was an accident and held no malice.

I have always held Parker with a high regard as a footballer and after the incident I was looking to see if he had something to whinge about, (blood, cut) and could see nothing..

If what you are saying is correct then, I am happy to retract my statement..

It certainly was an accident...

shouldn't have been a penalty regardless of whether he has a scratch or not. Players kick and struggle in every. single. tackle.

I recall it isn't the first time it's been given a penalty. So I have no qualms as long as they're consistent with the officiating.

SECTION 15
PLAYER’S MISCONDUCT
Definition of misconduct
1. A player is guilty of misconduct if he:
(a) trips, kicks or strikes another player.

I guess the rule comes under this law, it isn't something you don't see very much anymore, but when it happens a player will be penalised.

I suspect with kicking it comes down to whether the ref thinks it was intentional/severe. I don't know.

But i often wonder about the "as long as its consistent" attitude. I've heard it a lot in regards to attacking the kicker this season. Imo consistently enforcing a rubbish rule isn't that much better than inconsistently doing it...i'd far prefer they scrapped the nonsense altogether
