Good win. We are improving in all aspects and have lots of room left to improve. Backline plays particularly seemed to have had a lot more time and were under less pressure tonight.

I thought mansour was shaky tonight.Dont like billy burns on the bench came on and gave away 2 dumb penalties.Burton should have came on before burns and maybe api doesnt injure his shoulder.Tamou needs to go at seasons end hes got no go forward this yr.Lastly anyone know who won the 7 a side game tonight between both teams fringe 1st graders.

We just beat the Storm which we have only achieved twice in our last 20 or so games.

Could be just me but I thought Josh was enormous again. I haven’t looked at their stats but I thought he was huge for us.

Apart from the offload that went wrong I thought he was pretty good too.

Maybe it’s just me but feel ecstatic. It just feel’s so good right now. It wasn’t perfect, it probably wasn’t top four performance but frankly I just don’t care we just beat the storm, I wasn’t expecting it and I just feel good right now.

Klein was at it again tonight 7-0 with the 6 to go calls.Bellamy had a whinge last week and look what happens. We won and played well but we could have won that game much easier than we did.Not a fan of the chooks but i hope they give it to parra tomorrow night.

My overall thoughts.

Edwards was a huge upgrade - he really got the momentum started for our team and whilst not a ball playing fullback is competent enough.

Laui did very well. The Storm threw everyhting bar the kitchen sink at him and he held up well defensively as well as giving our left edge extra bite.

Api was much better this week.

Martin is very underrated - he is a damaging 2nd rower especially when he gets the ball at speed.

Clearys kicking and defense was excellent as usual. He guided the team around competently though his hands are still a worry - he struggles to put players in holes and does he have a cut out pass at all? A play or 2 before the Kikau try he missed a 4 on 2 overlap. This lack of vision bothers me - if he had good vision he'd be a complete elite halfback in the Thurston/Johns mold.

Yeo was always going to make a good lock - pleased to see him develop his game.

Our middle forwards held up okay defensively but were bashed in attack and hardly made any metres. Tamou is done as an elite 1st grader - he is becoming average fast.

Luckily our back 3 make up for it in spades. Josh was great - except he had his 1-2 brain explosions that often undo all the good work. lucky for us we held on.

Still not a fan of Cleary having bench players get little to no game time. It didn't cost us this time, but it might in the future and has in the past.

Yessss. How good is it beating those purple cheating bastards? I loved watching Smith have a whinge about a dud call then refusing to challenge it. I loved watching him later throw his challenge away on a nothing call. I especially loved watching him cat out trying to knock Crichton off his chase only for Kikau to waltz on behind him and score. Poor old boating enthusiast.

That was supremely pleasing. Our spine looks really really good. How long has it been since we've been able to say that? 2004? Api has been unbelievable. I thought he'd be an upgrade but he's been a revelation. Luai is throwing in one or two massive moments each week (ie that cut out ball). Edwards is even harder to tackle than usual and is actually chiming into backline moves. And Cleary has really levelled up imo. Had it on a string and he's better at picking moments to run with more variety in his game generally.

I'm excited. Even in 2018 we still felt a bit too flawed. We're a much more well rounded team than we have been in a decade. Just need the injury gods to stay away.

I say drop Whare, and put Matt Burton, or Jarome Laui there.
No way, whare and To'o combo is really strong defensively, its the otherside i worry about, Chricton is getting found out a bit which ok as he is young, but mansour is killing me with his brainfarts, that could have easily lost us the game, the way the ref was giving away set restarts to storm willynilly.
Naden on the wing will make us completely devastating in regards to running meters out of our end
