OK, I'll leave p[redictions up to others.

Suffice to say that, I am in DC this weekend, so will head out to the DC v 13s game. Should be fun. Hopefully I'll be able to bring a friend along as well. She's been keen to see a game.

Slayers (2-3) vs Thirteens (4-1) - Slayers need a big win at home this week, with the fourth spot is up for grabs and only three weeks left. The Thirteens are looking strong and the Slayers will need to bring everything they have to grab a win this weekend. Unfortunately I don't think they will have enough to come up on top of the Thirteens who have looked good the past couple of weeks. Thirteens by 5.

Warriors (1-4) vs Fight (4-1) - Fight should not have any problem with a struggling Warriors Side. Hopefully the Warriors can finish the season out strong and look to rebuild. Fight by 20.

Axemen (5-0) vs Blues (0-5) - Should be nice for the Blues to travel down to Jax and see what kind of show the Axemen put on. Axemen by 30.

Rebellion (2-3) vs Oneida FC (2-3) - Big game for both teams. Fighting for a playoff spot each side should be coming out firing. Should be a good game to catch. Rumor that the Rebellion have gained some bodies they did not have the first 3 three games, so I bet you can see them improving as the season goes on. Rebellion by 20.

AMNRL

Sharks (2-3) vs NOVA (0-5) - Sharks shouldn't have a problem with a struggling NOVA side. Sharks by 35.

Raiders (2-3) vs Knights (4-1) - Raiders coming off a big win over NOVA but I don't they will be strong enough to take down the Knights. Knights seem to have a real strong side with Luke Hume and others in the mix. Knights by 30.

Wildcats (3-2) vs Bulls (4-1) - Bulls coming off a big win and the Wildcats coming off a loss to the Knights. Should be a really good game and the one to catch in this week in the AMNRL. With Union over both sides should have all their key players playing this weekend. Bulls on a four game streak and it will be tough to stop it. However if there is a team that will this season it will be the Cats. Wildcats by 5.

Was at the DC v 13s game.

Geezus, DC did their best to try and loose it in the last 10 minutes ;)

It was a good physical game. Some big hits. I had my friend Julia out with me, it was her first experience of Rugby League and she loved the "Sheer violence" of the sport. There were a few pushes and shoves and she was egging the players on to blow up :D love it!!

The turning point I thought was when DC took two penalty kicks for Goal, this seemed to instill the Boston team into thinking they were in with a chance. DC did score again soon after that, but the Boston team started to play some sneaky football I thought... i.e. little inside plays and kicks, keeping the slayers on their toes and not knowing what was going on.

DC had a 34-12 lead 10 minutes to go, a mistake from I think it was one of their wingers, where he knocked on 10 yards from his line, set the play up for Boston to score. Then 2 minutes later after the restart, another knock on and then a penalty right in front of the posts and 2 yards out, the 13's hooker took a quick tap, dived under the legs with ball in fingers stretched out and got the ball down, literally in 2-3 minutes it went from 34-12 to 34-24. Then another 5 minutes later it was on again with Boston getting in and all of a sudden it's looking like remarkable come back!

The first quarter of the match saw some pretty intense hits. It was the traditional softening up period. The second quarter saw the same but DC started to get on top with the arm wrestle scoring 2 tried close to 1/2 time. The third stanza saw DC with the majority of the ball and despite about 5 repeat sets of six from penalties the Boston team held them out, which forced the kicks for goal.

Thanks for the info druzik.
Rough guess as to how many supporters were at the game?
DC don't seem to get much of a crowd unfortunately.
Also the standard of the game, how does it compare to the AMNRL games you have seen this year?
Cheers mate

The crowd I would say was about between 20-30, they were all spread out through the grand stands. It probably is similar to the majority of AMNRL games.

I went to the Sharks v Raiders game and it was about the same. The standard in the first 3 quarters tends to be pretty good, but in both comps what I have noticed over the years is that the last 20 minutes it becomes really scrappy and its the team that can hold onto the ball gets on top there. This was evident on the weekend, that last 10 minutes DC despite the big lead were tired, and lazy hands they were dropping the ball or knocking on. Silly penalties for high shots and off-sides also creep in. This happened with Boston, they gave away like 4-5 penalties in the space of a couple minutes for 3 high shots and two off sides, where DC were only 5 yards from the line! Similar happened the other end too. At one point the ref took the captains to the side and just told them to calm the teams down.

The AMNRL match I saw, the game was abandoned after 62 minutes for the amount of violence that was there. 3 all-in-brawls and just deliberate high tackles and no respect for the ball saw the referee declare he'd lost control and just called time. Up to that point it was a good quality game with the sharks on top and playing some nice wide attacking football.

All in all, I have not managed to see much of the domestic comps this year because of my job. I have needed to travel overseas and around the USA a lot over the summer. I had grand plans to see games in every single round of both comps but it just has not worked out that way at all... its been very frustrating actually as many teams are so close to me from both competitions. Even next weekend, I wanted to go to War on the Shore... sure enough I have to travel to Illinois for work... so will try and head out to see one of the Mid-West teams instead.
