My favourite item in the shed is a good old "valve" wireless radio
made by the Gramophone company probably in the early 60's.
The model is a "Little Nipper"
Can be bloody hard to tune and sound quality is very average but I wouldn't swap it for thworld
I still listen to pocket radios at work and home.
I've had more pockets radios.
Call me old fashioned.
We used to listen to a silver one with black cover the size of a brick..

I've taken to recording the game, looking at the score and then determining whether I watch it or not. Much better for my health. This time I actually checked a few times in here to see peoples reactions. Based on the comments I honestly thought we were losing badly for most of the game. There's some serious negativity in here mixed with unrealistic expectations.

Having said that, after watching it, I think we made it harder than it needed to be. I think we are starting (finally) to bring both attack and defense in line but we just aren't quite nailing it. Given the spine is pretty much new, I think they are starting to get their shit together - still work to do but we are starting to play like a team.

Cannot understate the value of the new leadership group and I love the passion the team are playing with. I also particularly like the support the players get if they make a mistake or if something doesn't go their way. During and post game video shows a close knit team. I'm liking it.

I'm also genuinely confused with the negativity around Illias. Yes there is still improvement needed but I think he's gradually settling into his role. I think next year we might see him and Atkinson in the halves to start. I think Illias will play the role of the controlling half and Atkinson will be the running playmaker general day to day posts. Yes Illias needs to improve in this space but we forget he had all of last year off with an injury and he's now stepped into a whole new spine/team. I think he still needs time to prove he's the man for that job. There will be ups and downs, but so long as he continues to improve I think we might have a good combo next year.
TB, the ingame comments on here are hilarious. I look them up after a win and laugh at the usual 4 or 5 posters, who are generally relatively calm on their day to day posts, absolitely go feral and slander the players, coaches, board members & sponsors when a player drops the ball!

Dad had a late 1960s National (I think, maybe National Panasonic) portable radio. Landscape layout, silver but in a black leather cover.
I think it was a fairly early transistor radio, Dad being an electronics tech at the PMG (later Telecom) was quite taken with it. He had it for decades.

I think this is a bit rough. Definitely a hip drop but I do think he got concussed during the tackle which contributed to the incident. Unless it was a repeat offense (which I don't think was mentioned in the article), he would have only gotten 3 matches for a grade 3 dangerous contact.
Im surprised there was nothing for Taukeiaho

Guler got 3 weeks for less, much less. I understand he had priors but I wouldn't be surprised if Feagai can't even walk now. I think Sipley got off lightly.

I know we bag Feagai out a lot on here but he didn't really deserve what he got. And yes sending a player out for 4 weeks compared to virtually ending another's season is totally unfair. I just hope that the Dragons have adjusted their tackling style, I wouldnt want to be the next player causing injury via a hip drop.

The difference here is that he appears to get knocked out or concussed during the tackle which almost certainly contributed to the result. If it was done with intent, for sure, send him for a long time. But I'm not convinced it was when watching the replay. I mean he even got held off longer than his sin binning to wait out a HIA.

And yes, Guler had priors which means he got the 3 weeks. If they had've classed Sipley's tackle as a grade 3, he would have got that without priors which I think would have been justified.

I also don't think we should be adjudicating based on whether it resulted in an injury or not. It should be based on the action itself, not the result. Just because the same action in 2 different tackles results in one players season ending and another getting back up and playing shouldn't determine the consequence. If it's a hip drop, it's a hip drop. It should be adjudicated the same way.

One of the reasons I detest the Melbourne Storm, as well as Craig Bellamy, is the numerous dangerous tackle types developed at the Storm under his coaching. One of which was of course the hip-drop which has caused numerous issues, and has been shown to cause lower body injuries up to 20 times more often than a standard tackle technique.

But there have been so many other injury causing tackle techniques created by Bellamy and his coaching staff over the years.

The fact that a man can put in place such a raft of techniques, in a deliberate manner, to create appalling injuries to other human beings, over such a long period of time, all in an attempt to gain an edge in order to win a game of football at all costs, and still be spoken about with such awe and respect by the idiot pundits and media commentators, is ridiculous.

He has never been called out over this by the NRL. They simply go from banning one tackle to the next without fixing the root problem. Their toothlessness is something they should be ashamed of, and their simpering puppy dog responses to "the great man" makes then equally responsible for some of the awful injuries that have been deliberately caused over the years.

Yep.

And no knowledge of that salary cap breach?

About the only coach in rugby league history not to be acquanited with planning a roster based on the cap.

And hes been called out over the years and his go-to response has been to express extreme and vile anger at his questioner.

The silly tantrums and destruction of property.

The emotional temperament of a 13 year old.

The wrestling classes, the chicken wing.

Despite the success, I think he will leave the game in a worse state than whence he found it.

And a lot of forumers i admire and respect, they are genuinely alarmed by the casualties in the game.

In part thanks to unethical coaching practices on top of player brain snaps.
