Refs gave us nothing and agree we need a stronger effort to confront the refs during the game to question the decisions. Check out how many other Captains walk off during half time, having a word in refs ear.
I also agree on Latimore having zero impact and Rava needs more mentoring and training.
Lomax needs to start from now.
Graham is well and truly pushing it now and looks fatigued .
Aitken can play like a champion then do really stupid stuff and offer nothing.
I really think we need to start seeing Kerr brought on as part of rotating bench from now on.
Finally all players need to focus on catching the ball. Too much drop ball in last few weeks.

I'm still getting over that loss yesterday. What could have been. I keep seeing those 2 wingers butcher that try that would have taken it to 16-14 over and over. I'm not sure I can forgive Pereira for that. Ravalawa I doubt I'll see again in first grade.
Shattered on that, but what black cat and broken mirror did Vaughn step through to be able to tackle himself!

embiggens ????

I forgot to give McInnes a big rap for his efforts yesterday, led the way with great line speed all day and 52 tackles, must have been buggered from that and a similar effort 5 days before but just keeps going. He's a legend.

Did Hunt go into the game injured ? Last week he had 14 kicks for 403 mtrs - about average for him but yesterday he had just 4 kicks for 150 mtrs and 2 of those were bombs. You'd have to think either he was injured or they were instructed to give Norman the responsibility for most of the kicks. That's a strange change going into a big game. Could have been a lack of possession but I'm not so sure that explains it.

For me the thing that burns the most was the lack of urgency shown by Aitken to jump on that ball in the 2nd half... Six again at that point would have crippled the Roosters as we had the momentum... It was a lazy effort and for me warrants a demotion...

One other thing i noticed yesterday was when we had them pinned down inside their 10m zone, we would realky smash tge first 2 tackles only to let tgem run out 10 or more metres on the 3rd, which gave them breathing space. Fatigue?
Spot on ... McInnes is the 2nd tackle specialist

Positives

Thought Host, Lawrie and Leilua all had very impressive games.

Norman and Hunt are excellent halves.

Hunt tries too hard sometimes.

Dufty is amazing on his day. If he improves his catching and general handling he will play Fullback for us for a long time.

Our defence was very good.

Negatives

Possible injury to Hunt.

Side was not mentally prepared for Roosters first half onslaught.

Too many handling errors gifted Roosters scoring opportunities.

Our wingers try very hard but are 1 to 2 levels below the wingers of most top 8 sides.

Mary needs to better utilise his bench.

No more backs on the bench.

No more Lats, time to put him out to pasture. Time to play Kerr or Timm.
Robinson was the difference yesterday. He worked out our weakness and devised a plan accordingly. Mary did not do anything by the looks of it; probably celebrating his extension instead.

We had no line speed in the first half, giving the Rooster's forwards plenty of time to wind up and their halves plenty of time to weave their magic. Easts were standing deep and hitting the advantage line at speed. On the other hand we were standing flat in attack and I believe Easts had to be offside because on many occasion they were in our face and we hardly made ground at all. To make things worse Norman and Hunt were kicking high rather then long giving the Roosters plenty of good field position.

The one sided refereeing surely got to our boys and the lack of possession was really difficult for them to overcome. Just the same too many mistakes at vital times and thus the result.

Aah Ravalawa, they thought they'd unearthed the next Semi Radradra but no, turned out to be next Rex Turp. They need to let go, move on. Give Pearson a shot.

I can't blame Periera, got his winger the ball who should have cut infield and scored or got it back to Periera.
Nightie, B.Morris, Blacklock score from there.

The only player I think that would be an inspirational captain for us at the moment is T. Sims.
you just know the forwards are going to follow him into battle and he has an excellent temperament.
McInnes is better than Widdop but too young
Over the past few games everyone was on the McInnes wagon saying how he was inspirational and driving his players to produce vital line speed from beginning to end of games. Yesterday there was no line speed in the first half but plenty in the second half. You have to wonder why Mary did not send a message to up the line speed early on in the first half.

Lomax was knocked backwards in the air when taking the ball and as a result, Easts scored a try. The same thing happened to Easts but they received a penalty. To me the ref had eyes only on the Dragons yesterday. A bloody shame because it ruined a good game.

Having Latimore & Ravalawa on the bench was like going into a war with a pop gun. No impact and poor utilisation of the bench. Roosters bench was the complete opposite....it had youth, versatility and energy plus Aubusson as probably the best & most experienced Mr Fix it player in the NRL. Our bench was a 50% after thought!

There is light at the end of the tunnel.
I am still excited with season ahead.
Missing Widdop, DeBelin and Sims
Has a major effect on our bench.
However If we can get JDB asap and Sims within a month our bench will look a lot stronger with Blocker and Host on bench who are both coming of age.

The difference yesterday was us...and only 4 points difference with a 3mins to go.

Our basic turnovers in the first half gifted them massive possession and the fatigue factor set in.

The roosters weren't doing anything special.

Second half we come back and the game is ours for the taking. We had our chances and if we hadve taken advantage of them we most probably win.

Thats the difference: us.

You could see the Roosters were opening up, they were buggered...we were too tbh but we had the sniff of a great comeback and were on the front foot more. They were there for the taking. We stuffed up our opportunities. We held the Roosters scorelesss for 55ish minutes despite being very fatigued. Another cheap turnover by dufty with 3 to go and it was all too much.

The Roosters didn't look like they had all that much to be honest, especially in the second half.

We could've won it. The fact we didnt was not the refs fault, the roosters fault, or anyone elses. It was not taking advantage of opportunities when they presented themselves.

Yes that too was incredibly frustrating but wouldn't have necessarily lead to a certain try like the Pereira Ravalawa stuff up. I agree though, hook aitken for that pathetic play.

Agreed Lomax did everything right to catch the ball but the attempted catch by Roarters is acceptable by the rules as they were only contesting the ball.
My issue is we NEVER! okay FRIGGIN RARELY, put ourselves in a position to contest balls in a similar manner causing opposition errors. It's like the storm and roarters always do it winning close games and it clearly shows they practise it.

Yeah but mate......
Pereira is better than that. He just passed it to Rava and said do your best. He should have run, drawn player and passed. Anyway, its done now.

Thought we tried, but Topou was great! Every time we gained ascendancy with our kicking game, he fought hard against the run of play to get the Roosters over the advantage line. He was just in that mood yesterday.

As soon as I saw Ben Cummins was ref I knew we would lose not blaming the ref at all for the loss as we should’ve taken the result out of their hands but gee whizz Cummins needs to be boiled in oil and have his fat sold as soap
Refs can really screw your day.
Yesterdays game was hampered by unnecessary penalties, particularly first half. Second half less penalties and we were on the edge of our seats.
