You have to admire the enthusiasm of Eels fans. Every year they win their first game or two and the circlejerk begins, telling us that this is finally the year where everything turns around, only for them to realise that it's yet another false dawn.

Also congrats to Parra fans at Suncorp last night.

You win the title of the most feral bogan fans to attend Suncorp in quite some time.

Two (maybe three).

Made some bad plays, but overall, I think he played well.

Well played, Broncos.
Yeah I thought Norman played well. Had a laugh when he sledged a few of his old team mates, that was a beauty of a sledge.

This game showed how good our defense has been this year. Teams come out firing at us and we hold fast repelling the opposition time and time again. We frustrate teams into errors, forced passes, simple mistakes etc. We scamble well and just keep turning up on our line.

Our attack is coming along nicely, we have plenty of speed, probably easily the fastest halves pairing in the comp, we have scored all our tries from running the ball, so when our kicking game starts to click we'll go to another level. So needless to say I'm happy with where we are at, haters will always hate and I think the Broncos, Eels and Tigers will dominate the comp in a few years time, very excited with where I think all three clubs are heading.

Bit of a strange game that one, not sure how to allocate points but I will go with this:

3. Milford
2. Hodges
1. Nikorima

Not sure what you guys think but I felt we were outplayed in the forwards. Our goal line defence was excellent but I thought our defence generally wasn't great. Our line speed seemed pretty poor. Some of our tackling seemed ineffective as there were quite a few tackle busts and offloads. I could be wrong but I think if we want to win the big games we need to defend how we did against the Roosters; that's the bar we need to set ourselves.

I thought Corey Oates getting out of the in-goal was a massive play in the context of the game.

I thought Thaiday was more damaging with his runs.

Not sure if it was Parra's positioning but Hunt's long kicking game seemed to be much improved.

I know Milford hasn't set the world on fire this year yet but isn't it nice to finally have a player who can get the ball and run 90 metres to score? Nothing against Maranta but if he got the ball not Milford there would be no try there.

Yeah not much changes down Parra way. Spoon material for sure

Yeah, Milford and Nikorima are both lightning quick. When was the last time we had someone with genuine speed like that? Leon Bott? Brent Tate had serious wheels before his knees went out on him.

Not sure why we kept going for the two... Every time we got near their line we looked likely. If we can go for the try we should go for the try, we have some good attacking weapons.

Hodges is looking good. I didn't see a replay but was that tip on to Reed forward? It looked ok from my angle at the game. He's still a very good centre - he creates way more for us in attack than anyone bar Hunt. Put Nikorima through on his break and his presence holds others off Jack Reed.

I enjoyed that bit of banter between Norman and the boys, it's good to watch. Hodges giving him a facial massage and a few pats towards the end was good value too.

a very good summary
especially that bit about maranta.
also the line speed. it seems very inconsistent.
parra were rolling through the middle with ease at times.
they seem to back themselves a little too much with the opposition inside our 30m.

.

Agreed. At that stage we were on the back foot, and facing another drop out. He got out and made 15-20 metres. Then Thaiday made a good run and we were back on the front foot. A short time later we scored. Was a massive play from Oats.

I'm f**king loving the bronx at the moment!

Was in Perth over the weekend, so no hope of catching this game, but the stats were in eels favour..

Seemed like we just did the little things right and took advantage of their mistakes. Penalties also were a big difference (7-2)

When I saw the Milford and Nikorima runs I was smiling ear to ear. Haven't seen a Bronco take off that quick for donkeys (pun intended).

Going to be a long 2 weeks until the next game..

Nikorima is one guy I can see really building over the course of the season. It's nice to be getting something out of the bench, it's certainly been a while

You see this a lot this year. I think the train of thought is, if a team is prepared to give a penalty right in front of the sticks take the 2, get the ball back off the kick off and get some field position. Works well if you get to the kick on the return set. A guaranteed 2 points and the ball back in your hands is better than a maybe 4 points....

Yep I am happy with the 2 as well, particularly given we don't score a whole lot when we are in their 20.

WB loves the grind and arm wrestle and backing our defense to win games. In his golden year at the dragons I think they took more penalty kicks than any team and ground away some really good victories.

It makes the game more boring I agree, but I'll never get bored of seeing the bronx win :D
