Round 8 vs Roosters

When it comes to the big games where the fans are looking confident they may chalk up a win, the Dragons always seem to disappoint the last 2 season. The games with the biggest crowds are the ones they have been hammered in the most or embarrassed. The games Saints get small crowds and are expected to lose they like to surprise us with a win. Very frustrating team to follow.

Goes to show a team of young halves like the Roosters had on ANZAC day out performed guys with much more NRL experience. Flanno simply has to give the younger guys a run and stop banking on the guys playing poorly to eventually come good. HE simply has to pick on form not the name. If Flanno is not around after this contract he will have himself to blame with his selections especially his son and picking players who simply don't want to play for him.

Roosters simply wanted the win more. They were more enthusiastic and had hunger to win on this special occasions. Saints players were more interested in just being present. They freeze when the big games come up. They are no way near capable of not only making the finals but coming close to winning a finals game.
They might be young but they were playing behind Leniu, Crichton and Radley who completely and utterly dominated us.

I was at the game on Friday and its taken me until now to log back on.
Don't remember feeling so low, (even last year) as I was this time.
Its not just one or two players, its multiple issues, and has been, IMO, ignored, since Wayne left.
We just got completely dominated in the forwards (and believe me I know we have problems in the backs as well) but jeeez we were ordinary, with our response to the bigger, faster, stronger, tussle that was going on.
Not one of our players (or a team work effort) could set us back on some sort of even keel.
And it just continued for eighty minutes.
Changes MUST be made now.
I believe in Flanno but he has to make significant changes to the team today.

LKT for Kyle and LPT for Lawrie. That's 2 easy decisions for mine but it's not going to solve everything that's for sure but it's better then nothing

One glaring factor that bothered me was the kicking game, (on the fifth tackle), was mostly (if not always) too short.
Not deep enough and not high enough.
Needs urgent attention.

This is the biggest problem with not having any elite front rowers. Young Toby is the only one who can hold his head high but his job is to work hard consistently, not change momentum.
We’ve seen it for years now. Once an opposition forward pack gets on top, we’re done, there’s no wrestling momentum back. And in the games like the Anzac game, if the opposition pack smells blood, we’re toast.
The good front rows are big, young, athletic, fast, enthusiastic, aggressive and relentless. Ours is slow, plodding, soft, aging, completely unthreatening and utterly one dimensional. Same story in the defensive set up.

The question is why is it always a Roosters home game?
Tried playing at Kogarah and we missed out on a lot of money, also the ANZAC ceremony participants prefer it closer to the city including the airforce flyby / helicopter landing.
We should share the takings and then get our home game at Kogarah as well.
A definite disadvantage to us for doing the right thing by the event organisers.
Its actually a home game every second year, just played out of the opponents home venue.

In my opinion we should take our home game as a true home game. We need all the help we can get. Crowd passion makes a huge difference, as we've seen from our Win stadium games. We're basically taking money and doing what with it? It's not like we're using it particularly well. A lot of things need to be changed at our club and this is one of them. Pure focus on whatever gives us the best chance of winning. If we get back to finals footy the fans will come back, and with them the commercial revenue.

Allan picked as a winger when he's been playing centre & lkt picked in the halves with Kyle kicking when neither of them have been the dominant kicker lmao.

I think they alternate each year.
Just done a quick search. Looks like we’ve had it at our stadium only once ever. 2020 (Win Stadium). In 24 or so years?

My point is that we should be scrapping like pitbulls for every single edge and every single point we can get. Not making stupid decisions at board level that hamstring the coach for the sake of a few extra dollars which we don’t spend wisely anyway.

I get your point mate but I dont think the NRL would ever allow this to happen at a suburban ground. And tbh I've attended these games where the Dragons fans have far outweighed the Roosters fans. If the Dragons lack any motivation to win these games on ANZAC day, then that is totally on them, and not a home ground advantage.
