judging by the amount of players on rep duty this week.We may see a few of the u20 boys getting a call up to nsw cup

Or drop a few back. I wouldn't mind Robinson of course. Segeyaro starting hooker and Mansour in the backrow with the look of looking forward to possible 1st grade moves

NYC will have a few in u20's as well

I'd like to give a shout out to my favourite player Jeremy Latimore for another solid performance against the Sharks. 10 runs for 102 metres, 1 offload, 27 tackles and 1 missed tackle. This was Latimore's 3rd missed tackle for the season.

for sh!ts and giggles...

1. Moylan
2. Simmons
3. Whare
4. Idris
5. DWZ
6. Soward
7. Wallace
8. Grant
9. Segeyaro
10. Kite
11. Mansour
12. Manu
13. Docker

14. Peachey
15. Plum
16. Latimore
17. Robinson

Some might say Mansour is too small for 2nd row but i disagree, I think he runs hard and rarely gets bent back when carrying the footy. Has a decent offload which can may add some space outwide.

Kingston is a good club man and tries hard but with the talent we have at the moment it would be silly to keep playing him for 80min and weakening our back row when segz/peachey are on.

Like this side actually - Might be inclined to fit Cherrington or VTK in for Plum IMO

Another frustrating game to watch. We created plenty of chances, 20 points plus 3 disallowed tries but the defence was poor, to let the sharks score 20+ without Carney is terrible, not sure how that happened.

Peachey needs to be in this side imo, he was very good and looks dangerous with most of his touches. Taylor is a big loss imo defensively he is huge for us. I am looking forward to hopefully seeing Matt Robinson get a couple games. I thought Seggy looked a bit more dangerous then has been this season but still not where I expected him to be.

Also im not blaiming the refs for the loss but I was very suprised they didnt check the Sika Manu try from the kick where Simmons threw the ball back in. I havent seen a reply but there is no way that touchy could be looking closely enough at Simmons toes and his hands at the same time to know for sure that he was out...I havent heard anything about it so it was probably the right call but still.

The obstruction I thought could of gone either way, my initial thought was no try but who knows with the way the call them these days.

Exactly the touchy was only looking at the feet so was worth a look.
The obstruction was one of those where Graham had a poor read if Docker was still moving forward it would of been a try.

Though like you said we had plenty of chances (again) and didn't use tit

Its like the defender just has to run into someone now and fall over these days but whatever, if they rule them like that consistently then fair enough, but I dont think that will happen.

I think our attack is getting better, the right side especially with Whare. We are starting to use some nice backline plays and almost scored of a set piece from an attacking scrum which was beautifull until we dropped the ball. We still lack a bit of polish and are a bit predictable though.

Yeah they have been getting better... though has issues the tick box they use once the attacking team stops in the line instant no try whereas I would almost say in this case Graham tackled Docker before he could go through the line.

we just have no momentum going forward with Kingston, segeyaro and peachey on the field at the same time. Plum and Kite are pretty slow these days in their runs so they arnt likely to cause the defense many problems. Latimore is our best forward at the moment but u need more than one doing what he does. Segeyaro starts, peachey on the bench playing as a utility, manu on the right side, robinson on the left and we need some more punch in the middle. Sam Anderson may not be the biggest front rower but he plays long minutes and has a lot more energy in his legs and will keep the opposition defenders working. If we don't make some of these changes we wont threaten the better teams. They wear us down over the 80 minutes and we don't have enough points in us to outscore many teams. When we have the ball we need to be wearing down the opposition and testing their defence. We cant keep relying on Mansour and Idris to make all the hit ups. If we get the forwards making more meters than our slow backline wont be as big of an issue. Leave Kingston out for a few weeks and see what difference it makes. What harm can it do hes only on a one year contract so that in itself shows how important he should be to the team

The thing is defensive lines dont just move up, i mean initially they do but then they often have to slide across and backwards if the ball is moving out wide into space so they cant just have a clear cut rule like they want.

That's the issue. Basically rush up in defence have a poor read make contact and fall. No try everytime some things just need to be a common sense ruling

Bit surprised that Gus would come out and comment on this directly

6. Wade Graham’s argument is flawed

At the post-match press conference last Saturday, Panthers coach Ivan Cleary said Sharks back-rower Wade Graham had taken a dive in the dying moments of the match to win an obstruction penalty and deny the Panthers a game-winning try.
Wade Graham defended himself by saying he was impeded and that “Ivan was entitled to his opinion, but he is not out there on the field with us”.

SAY WHAT! With that statement Graham just destroyed his own argument and, with it, the whole notion of the game sending these decisions upstairs for review. If, as Graham contends, Ivan Cleary is in no position to make the call because he is not on the field with the players, then where the hell does Wade Graham think the video referees are sitting?

If, as Graham contends, you need to be on the field to properly rule on obstruction (and I whole-heartedly agree with him) then can Graham explain why the on-field referees awarded it a TRY? The simple answer is that the on-field referee knew Graham was faking it and also knew that Graham never had any intention of chasing the man with the ball, who was long gone before Graham deliberately tackled a man not in possession of the ball to attract the referee’s attention.

Once the matter is referred upstairs, the whole obstruction rule takes on a completely different level of interpretation.

Good on him. Gus having such a prominent role in the media is something we haven't used much due to perceived conflicts but hell we don't have many advantages off the field that some club's do. He also makes a pretty solid argument.

I hope the focus in the playing group is not that we were robbed. Truth is we were not as good defensively as we had been or as we needed to be. The Sharks rolling the ball forward 60 metres on their 1st set of the game and the number of offloads showed that our recently acquired defensive attitude was awol.

Hopefully Cleary is showing tapes of the losses to the Eels and Sharks to reinforce what to expect if we're not fully committed every match.

Personally, anysort of "Taking a dive" makes me sick, its unAustralian and i hate it.

Having said that, if Docker had of done the right thing and run through, this wouldn't have happened.

Rookie mistake from a good young player that hopefully he has learnt from.
