Round 9 v Broncos

You think playing 10 good minutes in an 80 minute game is a positive?

Broncos clocked off. We were shit. When they switched on we had absolutely nothing.

Yeah I think it is a positive.

If this happened against the Sharks then it could have turned the season around. Confidence can take you a long way. That ten minutes almost made me believe it was the Panthers of 2016 again.

But its too late now. Even if we did string a couple wins together they won't make the finals. Very disappointing.

He hasn't looked the part every chance he's had since the 20s but he's never been in form this good, at least not in a team playing so poorly, DWZ deserves first shot at fullback.

Look, it did look good I definitely agree. But it was all on the back of Brisbane falling off every single tackle. We played much like that the whole game but Brisbane were tackling then.

Interesting to see how the week off effects the side next week. It will be either a blessing or a further cause to be lazy if Griffin makes no changes. Either way I think only losing 5 games from here is beyond us.

We didn't play like that the whole game. When have you ever seen RCG backpedalling and pushing players off and trying to create a hole? Or us spreading the ball early in the count from the back? From the kick return even? They got tired and we got a bit of breathing space, but we actually played with it.

We were premiership favorites.
We are sitting on 2 wins and 7 losses.
We lost 13+

You think 10 minutes where we arent shit against a team that clocked off is a positive sign? We were never in the game.

We were absolutely hammered. Broncos clocked off after the game was won and they switched from attack to closing the game out. We score a couple of tries and then the very first chance Broncos get they score pff a scrum for the second time in the match.

How can you think aby of that is a good sign? 6 months ago we were premiership favorites... now a couple of consolation tries is promising?

Sorry but I think we are better than a 22% win rate team. I think we are better than losing 13+. I think we are better than conceding a try anytime a team gets within 20 metres of our line.

This was as gutless as any performance we have put in this year. When momentum was in our favor we still managed to show our terrible defence and let the margin blow back out to 13+. Knights are better than us.

Yes... we have strike power all over the field. The fact we need to be down by 20 before we use it os worrying. Not promising.

Don't need to be reminded about our position. How could anyone be happy about it? Easily the most let down I've felt by Penrith in my entire life.

3 tries in 10 minutes...does plenty of your confidence. And this team hasn't played confident football in recent memory. So yes I take it as a positive.

But we are arguing over a very moot point. Penrith won't play finals football in 2017.

Yeah I know. But when you are out there on the field scoring points you don't care how you score them. It will restore some confidence in the side. And hopefully some pride in our season.

But as I just said in another post, I think we are gone this year :(

I would say sure it could do, but then they concede a weak af try on the siren and they did the same thing against the eels, almost winning late but looks like it gave them little confidence. you can only hope but looks like the team needs a shake-up

Consolation tries... its much easier to score when the opposition has stopped trying.

We are better than a few consolation tries... so i dont see it as a positive. We are gutless. Our own club talked this season up as being our time. Yet we are barely ahead of Kniggts and are easily tge worst defensive team in the comp.

9 rounds in and people are desperate to find positives in a few consolation tries. But for me... that gutless try we let in at the end more than undoes it... it showed just how bad we are when the opposition sre focused for even a moment.

Oh f**k off MX, we clearly played some good footy for a very short period of time. No ones saying we were terrific the whole 80 mins but it gave a brief glimpse of what we're capable of when we get some confidence. People are allowed to see a bit of light every now and then.

I don't really agree with the commentators that we need to simplify our play and stick to going up the middle first. I think we've been trying to do that too often. We looked 10x better when we moved the ball to the edge and hit our backrowers or even Merrin and RCG. If we did play in the middle third, we used Peachs foot work and movement rather than just a one up hit up.

I think it's time to either bring a Hooker into the bench, or bench Wallace altogether. He has been a great servant of the club but he's time is up IMO. Give Rein or Katoa a shot.

I am not so disappointed. We needed to win to have a remote chance of making the finals but given we would be out in straight sets anyway this saves us the embarrassment and heartache.

We played 10 minutes after the game was over and Broncos switched off. They then easily scored on the first play from a scrum.

You keep trying to cling to even the slightest glimmer of hope that you can. Im being realistic though... and you dickheads that come put in defence after thrashings are f**king tiresome.

Do you work for the club? How else can you defend that shit? If our team tried half as hard in defence as you guys do we might actually win a game.

But nope. We lost our 5th game in a row and again by 13+. But hey we scored a few tries this time after we were down 28 NIL. things are improving...

Yeah losing 5 in a row is totally not embarassing or heart breaking. Preseason favorites to wooden spoon contenders.

Id rather be eliminated week 1 of finals than be waiting til week 10 or later for our 3rd win.

You're hurting. I get it.

When this season started, I was realistic. I figured we'd be lucky to make the eight with this team, always remained optimistic but slowly but surely the Panthers of old crept in and it was like watching 2007 all over again.
