Lillyman will play.

Boys leave to NZ later today. I'm sure if there's any changes to the Broncos side we'll hear about it today.

This match could be won or lost with our backline defence, the combination of Johnson-Hurrell-Vatuvei-Ropati really worries me.

Cant say I remember his contribution much in that 40 -0 drubbing :)

Give us some credit, we scored ten points! Haha but yeah I think he's talking about round 22 last year which you guys won 21-20. Looking forward to this one :D

Ropati! That will be good to see. I wonder what has happened to that u20s fullback from last year???

Omar ?

Still in U20s but having a bad run with a leg injury that is slow coming right. Will the juniors game be televised in Brissy ?

Ropati is a good fullback and it looks as though Jacob Lillyman will be back, which is good.

Yeah, Omar!

He had a great season last year. Shame to see he has an injury. Hope he can get it right soon.

Lets hope it's a dry pitch and will be good to have T'eo back on the paddock. Te'o seems to be the only change to the pack from last week.

NRL Warriors look to patch up defence
======================================

The Warriors realise they must turn around a dire defensive record, or risk being put to the sword by NRL attacking demons Brisbane on Saturday at Mt Smart Stadium.

It's a battle between the second worst defensive team in the competition and the game's second best attacking force.

Prop Ben Matulino says being able to shut teams out, especially after making errors as they did against the Storm, has been a focus of the Warriors' build-up against the Broncos.

The Broncos' Kiwi trio of Alex Glenn, Gerard Beale and Josh Hoffman scored four of their five tries against the Titans, and they are bolstered by the return of Auckland-born forward Ben Te'o from suspension.

Matulino points to fullback Hoffman as one player the Warriors have to keep close tabs on.

The game we had to lose.

Horrible horrible game. Sure there were a lot of bad calls but our last tackle options in the second half was DISGRACEFUL! Norman and Macca.....wow.

That is all.

I don't know how much we can read into it after we lost Wallace so early, but we obviously struggle when we're chasing points. That, and those 2 identical tries one pass off the ruck, are my only concerns about this team.

Suddenly I'm happy Beale is walking. Good luck to the Dragons they're gonna need it.

Losing Wallace has opened up a lot of questions about our attack.

he's never looked comfortable taking bombs under pressure, as fullback when you got time and space he looks a better catcher but it's those leaping catches he doesn't look good

teams are going to target him now, you can't concede 2 tries like and expect to win

Not exactly happy with a number of aspects of that game. Warriors were simply better.
Always going to be hard losing Wallace mid game, breaks all structure. Doesn't excuse some terrible options taken and stupid stupid errors (Warriors guilty of this also in the second half).

I'm happy that we never gave up though.

Broncos had alot of 50 50s go against them, but they also made alot of stupid mistakes.
That said, Jason Robinson is the worst ref in the NRL

We were due a loss. Lessons will be learnt from that game and we're still in second place so not the end of the world.

Agreed........and those Kiwi commentators on Fox rival Ray Hadley as the games worst callers.

In a nutshell.......Warriors were aggressive and in our faces in defence. Conversely we we too flat in attack.......it was never going to end well for us. Credit goes to the boys for never giving up.

Things just didn't go our way. I thought a couple players may have played their worst games for us tonight. Gillett in particular was fairly ineffective......Norman maybe as well.

Don't know why some are saying our lack of attacking options was compounded when Wallace left the field. IMO ....it's the same whether he is on the field or off. There have been plenty of games this year when Wallace was playing that we had a multitude of opportunities on the oppositions try line ...raid after raid and still we come up empty.

We had the game in our hands during the 2nd half. We needed to score 1st and we did. We simply failed to capitalise on that and the good field position we had.

Parker was outstanding, as was Hoffman. Petro, McC and Hannant solid performances. Reed and Hodges were strong in the backs.

Mentions to Glenn and Teo as well.

Something needs to be done regarding our attack. Watching other teams over the weekend and even the Warriors against us, in the other teams 20 they have multiple players in motion. The Storm in particular are a beautiful thing to watch.

We need to find something like that.

It was only a matter of time before the high ball cost us a game. We've been terrible under the high ball all season and finally the Warriors were good enough to expose it. Safe to say that Beale will be getting plenty more of those in the games to come.

In saying that, we had more than enough chances to win the game in the 2nd half, and for a while I thought we were going to win. And although our attack was a bit dodgy, I don't think we are giving enough credit to the Warriors defence, they were extremely physical.

I thought our attack was fine in the second half with Hunt at halfback. The Warriors just defended really really well, most other teams would have cracked.

The only problem was the last tackle options, but give Hunt and Norman a week of training to prepare and that should be fixed.

Very tough game next week.

Norman sucked because he tried to do more playmaking instead of taking the line on as well. We get no players in motion in the attacking 20. Hunt is so much sharper and better with his hands then wallace is. We just have to set plays around his attacking style! his stint at hooker in the last 2 years has made him a good runner of the ball as well!

Do you think there will ever be a game where both our wingers actually do good and don't make mistakes? either beale is great and copley craphouse vice versa. Beale was disgusting when asked to catch simple bombs. His whole body positioning is wrong..and also, I wanted to shoot myself after 80 mins of bad refereeing, and horrible commentary.

I truly hate J. Robinson with a passion. That idiot needs to be sacked permanently! I lost count of the wrong decisions he made. Actually, the only correct one was the one where he gave us the scrum feed after it was blatantly obvious that he was wrong on the video replay.

Having said that, I won't take anything away from the Warriors, who were on song tonight, not only in their razzle dazzle style of attack, but also very good defensively, which isn't exactly their trade mark.

We also didn't do ourselves any favours, and just when I started complimenting Beale on the right wing, he pulls this shit.

The Wallace bashers need to pull their heads in. A halfback's job is not just about the final play, it's very much about organising the team. And boy did we miss that in the second half!

He's the best short kicker at the Broncos by a mile, and could have earnt us a couple of tries/restarts had he been on the paddock in he second half.
Hunt was absolutely awful, except in the play where he set up Thaiday for his try, and Norman tried too hard.
McCullough was enourmous, pulling 66 tackles even after he sprained his ankle!

All in all, I'm not worried that we lost at Mt Smart by one try only against this Warriors team, and under these circumstances.
Still plenty to learn from this...
