Felt for the Japs - I guess after the go slow to qualify, at least they showed they can play, and ultimately their enthusiasm for getting the winner is what cost then - from a nearly high to a huge low - what a roller coaster

And indeer, Neymar is hard to like

He's in the discussion, but the likes of Zoff, Maldinin, Baresi, Meazza, Facchetti, Rossi, Rivera, Scirea, Riva and others all have claims...

Aside from Pele, Best, Dalglish, Puskas, Laudrup and a few others not many countries where football is a serious business (not sure Scotland and Ireland count there) where you can unequivocally name a greatest player - even Ronaldo and Messi aren't unanimous - actually for the Argies Maradona clearly a better international footballer.
Actually I forgot about Baresi. Probably the greatest defender of all time. Fachetti might be the best left back ever, too.

So I'll go with Baresi. But Baggio is their best attacker imo.

Also at his peak prior to his knee injuries I'd rate Ronaldo alongside Pele. Alas I'm probably alone there but he's one of a few who can lay claim to being the most naturally gifted player ever.

And Maradona has a better International record but that was when International football was considered the pinnacle. And whilst the World Cup is still the holy grail there's no doubt that the Champions League is by far the highest quality football around which imo is where contemporary greats should be judged.

I can't penalise Messi for not winning World Cups with Federico Fazio and Lucas Biglia lol Just dragging those Championship standard players to a World Cup final is one of the great achievements.

I hadn’t seen your post but posted something similar in the Sharks forum.
We both used the word cat which is a pretty fair description.
I just pray they get rolled against Belgium.

That and either or all of Vertonghen, Kompany or Alderweirald (sp?) to kick the ever-loving snot out of him.

Is a pitch invasion from Kevin Muscat too much to ask?

This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone, he's been a merkin for some time. In the league this year he carried on quite regularly.

I put a bet on them some time back though so im not cheering for them to lose :)

Look at the clubs he's played for. He's allowed to get away with it because he's never going to be pulled up at Santos, Barcelona or PSG. It's certainly been encouraged at the first two on his list.

Cold night in Stoke would sort him out.

Neymar can go eat a bag of dicks. Please Belgium, you are our only hope. Even the Indonesian media covered it a bit which is impressive because they love him and never talk about his hysteria.

To those who think we aren't way behind Japan, lolz.

This game has been so frustrating. I knew this was exactly what was coming for the last 30 mins.

Hahaha! How longs it been
since the last English penalty shootout capitulation??

You can’t have a real tournament without England crumbling in a shootout... :joy::joy:

I can’t remember one in awhile... it used to feel like it was a hallmark of every tournament... :joy::joy:
