Why is it that NRL players always try different sports? Whether it's boxing, MMA, rugby, AFL , NFL. You don't see it with cricketers, AFL players, soccer players, basketballers etc. Or it has happened with athletes in those sports trying their hand in another. Example, a few AFL players having a crack as a punter in the NFL. But it feels more and more common with NRL players.
Now of course, it comes down to money, but others are falsely hyped up from their agents. Another reason is a lack of direction from the governing body itself for many years. Example, for years journos asked Gallop about Perth, his replies were "we will look into it" , or "fish where the fish are". Or not maximising tv rights.
Some on here don't agree with the ten year bans on players defecting to r360. It may be a restraint of trade, but at least the NRL, rightly or wrongly is trying to protect the code, rather than do nothing and be a walkover. Lets face it, the NRL has been a walkover for many years.
Now if we want the NRL/rugby league to become the biggest comp/ code in the country, then players wouldn't think twice about leaving. And fans wouldn't want them to leave either.
