Rugby League 2 Franchise mode

How do you guys think Franchise mode should work? How heavy on simulation should it be??
Personally I'd like there to be an option to play "simulation Franchise", in which you select your first grade squad from all the players available in all devisions and then play the trials and everything involved in a season. For the representative part of the year I think it would be better if you only got to become SOO coach etc on the basis of your teams season performance. IF your team was kicking ass, you got offered the job of NSW/Qld coach when the time came, and if you didn't want to do it, you could turn it down and focus on the regular season, but if you did you have to select your squad from the form players in the comp and complete a couple training sessions with the squad to make sure they gell etc, but then you'd also have to worry about exhaustion of players and suffer weaker performances from your players for the rounds surrounding the SOO (eg: their stats go down a bit)... It'd be great for those of us looking for "the full Rugby League experience". and for thos who just wanna play matches, there could be an option to play something like "arcade franchise" where everything is done for you and you just focus on the action.
What do you boys think?

Boys it's great that you liked the systems on these games, but for the sake of the ignorant (ie me) can you please explain what these games had to make them so good? :D

Its hard to explain the way madden is run in a post, its very complex. Basically its franchise does everything you'd want in a sports game and I dont think we can expect to see that in RL2 if we are to be realistic.

Being selected for SOO coach, then International coach, based on your performances is a great idea!

I thought so :D ... It would be good as a reward if your team was doing well enough! You wouldn't have to be coming first, maybe just in the top 4?

Madden Franchise run down-

Franchise runs for about 30years..although it gets annoying towards the end using guys like "Ray Green" lol.

Features a Draft where players have to evaluate rookies, Overall level isnt known till you sign your rookies.

Free Agent is basic..just whoever was cut by every team or just refused to sign with the current team ends up here, highest bidder usually wins although a few players will reject the offer if its from a bum team.

Injuries, they can be minor and last around 1 or 2 games (if so they can still play altough there speed and etc are decresed), then there is the 8-12 game injuries (they wont play till there at least 1 or 2 weeks from recovering), season ending injuries occour every now and then..although ive had like 3 guys go out from the same game with season ending injury's lol..last but not least is career ending..this one is obvious.

Retirements occour at the end of the season...usually whoever is old or is injured retire..although ive seen a few young guys retire at like 27.

Salaray cap is pretty easy to stay under as long as you know what your doing..i rarely get near the cap..Ive seen guys release big stars cause they think offering the best money to the best guys is what it takes to win lol...Re-signing is basic..just offer him what he wants..although you can get away with offering a little less..sometimes the big stars on a bum team will never sign with you no matter how much you offer.

Stat progression is basically if you play well then end of the season expect that player to improve..although in madden its dumb cause certain positions are heaps hard to improve..no matter how hard you focus on.

Coach firings occour if you have a few bad seasons back to back or if your teams income is lower then the outcome via the food, tv and etc sales...you play well..you get the fans money lol simple.

Hiring new coaches is basic...lol

Well thats a "quick" run down on the madden franchise..although there is heaps ive missed.

Oh also every possible stat is tracked through the franchise...career and etc.

My bad..forgot the trades..

fairly easy to understand..just offer a team a player for someone you want..they either accept for decline..in total you can trade a total of 3 guy from your team..like giving 3 guys around 80overall for an 94overall rb or etc...you get the idea.

I remember mentioning the idea of being asked to coach teams for the first game but nothing came of it. I think that if you choose to "coach" state of origin then you have to miss out on three of your club matches. However I don't like the idea of having to put your team through training, thats just me personally but I think it would be just too boring to do all that stuff.

I think the idea of signing players is a must for the game. Each year there should be a list of made up juniors that come through, and some perhaps will be recommended to you while others aren't.

Yeh Im pretty sure Mario and friends are well aware that about 80% of the idea's that are getting bandied about are glossy extra's that arent necessary and that people would get bored of after one go at it.

Things like training and stuff are always asked for but why? I havent even looked at the training mode on FIFA or Madden because there is no point, id rather play a match!

Even Madden's franchise has way too much detail in some area's that arent needed, they made a big song and dance about being the owner of the team and how your ticket prices and what not would effect crowds. But then they ruin it all by telling you the exact level the fans want, so you put it to that for the first game of your franchise and never touch it again for 30 years, extremely unnecessary feature.

The best thing about Madden Franchise is the draft, getting new players and making off season moves. I'm guessing player contracts will be done at the end of the season and I'd like to see it like it is in Madden where you can see other teams offers and players don't take the deal right away but will wait a day or 3 depending on how good your deal is.

With Franchise over the years you will have to have new players come up the ranks. I've got no idea how it would work but if new guys don't come and old guys go and you play 5 years in franchise you will have a 38 year old centre playing for Manly in Terry Hill :?

It would be good if each club sent in their best flegg players for example and 2 or 3 of them come into the squad each year(but it would be lame if only 21 year olds came in as look at SBW who is 19)
