Great posts by Yanto and Winnyason. RL is purely, simply, without question the better game for virgin players and spectators. Give 'em a choice of either without any prior prejudice and 99% will opt for league.

As for 30 years? Well, I think union is painfully underdeveloped in terms of structures and depths in the vast majority of its nations. As Yanto says, Dutch RU is very small and pub-ish.

US RL has the tag of being not that serious a sport when compared to NFL, NHL etc. It's more of a drink up.

Consequently, I believe RL can certainly achive a huge amount in 30-years. Perhaps not in terms of the number of countries it's played in but definitely in the structure of the game/depth when compared to the relevant organisations.

It's not as though these remote RUs have been actively professionally developing their RU systems year on year since they were kindled, is it? They started as ex pats playing thier game and that's probably the way it has stayed with a bit of growth thrown in for good measure.

BUT, why would you bag the level of union's international competition? It is this sort of level that league would strive to be like, and has no hope of reaching within the next 30 years.

You just did bag league... for no reason at all ... 30 years is a very long time.

Unfortunately mr ruggabugga does continually bag international development of rugby league, and made the mistake of mentioning in another thread that no rugby league comp existed in Ireland. He was promptly corrected with details of the Munster and Leinster conferences,so his Celtic background is no guarantee of knowing everything that goes on in ones homeland.

Taipan, READ WILL YA! I'm not ruggabugga!! I'm rugged!!!!

league 13,

League has been played in PRIVATE SCHOOLS for over 80 years. MY dad went to private schools and he recently passed away at 96 and played MUNGO code right through high school. He played RUGBY for his weekend club as that was his preferred code.

Struth, I forgot that history is beyond you dummies!  #-o #-o

Ruggabuuga,

I was actually referring to the UK and how union descriminated against league by banning the game from these influential institutions, which allowed them the opportunity to spread their game through teaching, defence force etc. Now while we're clearing up history, can you tell me again how WW Ellis picked the ball up at Rugby school??? I look forward to your reply.

ruggabugga.... why don't you just start up a troll thread. What do you think of Geogia's small initial entry into the world of Rugby League?

League has not been played in GPS and Associated private schools for 80 years, and in many instance is still not.And that is fact. At least your dad had the opportunity to play his code of preference on the weekends,I didnt get the choice.
That is the problem league historians know the game's history all too well, and some of it aint pretty. But of course as you have indicated you dont want to be reminded about it.

Regardless of the bagging by the Union clowns, this is very good news for the International League stage.

As other posters have stated Georgia were in the last Rugby World Cup and the officials have them ranked inside the top 20 nations.
If the Union people want to bag out Georgia for going to league or bag the League scene in general then you should take a good look at your own backyard, as Georgia are considered a powerhouse. Being ranked inside the top 20 of the 160 nations that play Union.

160 nations, geez those people are kidding themselves.

i am getting little annoyed by this constent bagging of league's international game, by ruggabuuga and his rugby mates, firstly i am a big fan of union as it is and would be lying if i said i did not watch the bledisloe every year and the world cup great events, however i have grown up with league and cannot get enough of it, so when it is bagged i defend it like a little brother being PICKED ON BY A SCHOOLYARD BULLY.
this is what union has always been a bully face facts let's talk about france what they done over there.
firstly league is so little compared to union so why bag it out ?
i will put it to all you guys on the forum this way they don't pick on gridiron
do they a bit to big for them.

both the hockey codes survive sure a hell of a lot different, than the closeness league and union have but they are both strong and don't bicker
backstab. ice hockey has there world cup and field the champions trophy
but ice hockey does not get paranoid about field hockey and undermine there progress.
there is no doubt rugby has played a role the disaster in russia( a little money incentive i believe).
the cross training in england is good for cross relations between the codes,
league deserve some respect.
in a lot of these new outposts give them time many will drop away over time but a few will stay and became strongholds, with union still played
see both codes can help each other even in many minnow countires.
let's hope the bully of union can grow up.
and yes this is great news about georgia a rivalry with russia.

I find it funny how union journos have started to use the word 'simple' when describing league, yet their sooooo sophisticated game comes to league to learn all our defensive strategies and attacking lines etc. Seems odd to me that such a self proclaimed superior code could learn anything from the 'simple form of rugby'. Fair dinkum???

Funny, earlier in the week I sent the Georgia RL story to three papers- Sunday Herald (Jacq. Magnay), Sunday Telegraph (Rebecca Wison) & The Sunday Mail of QLD (Left Field).

Well, the QLD Sunday Mail printed a little story/mention of it! Wilson & Magnay wouldn't want their readers knowing about rugby league in other countries. Wilson was pre-occupied with the 'Star' league player doing drugs in front of nightclub patrons.
