I like AFL, second behind League.
On the other hand, union is absolute crap, thier S12 players would be lucky to make it for Souths.

Union players are just as good as league players... Ricky Stuart was one of the greatest league half backs of all time! ... yeah and he was a wallaby before he played league...

I can actually appreciate both League and Union as they have their strengths and weaknesses

Ricky Stuart was a Wallaby in 1987 and didn't play League for Australia until 1990.

Unlike Tuquiri, Sailor and Rogers who all walked into the Wallaby team in their first season of Union.

Oxenham is right, there are very few Union players who would be an instant hit in League, if any.

Matt Rogers? LOL

He was a good winger in League.

And if AFL is growing on you, I hope you find the antidote.

So George Gregan's as good as Danny Buderus  All George does is pass the ball

Your an absolute moron.... no offence, but unless your taking the piss, then you reall ought to know that the numbering system is backwards in union to what it is in league. Here I'll explain it to you:

1 : Loosehead Prop
2 : Hooker
3 : Tighthead Prop
4 : Second Row
5 : Second Row
6 : Blindside Flanker
7 : Openside Flanker
8 : Number 8
9 : Half Back
10 : Fly Half (five eigth)
11 : Left Wing
12 : Inside Centre
13 : Outside Centre
14 : Right Wing
15 : Fullback

Sailor walked into the wallabies, but only because they paid so much money for him... he's utterly useless and the new young kid from south africa, Clyde Rathbone, has taken his place.

To say that Union players couldn't make it in league is rubbish... players like Jerry Collins, Carlos Spencer, Nathen Gray, Clyde Rathbone, Stephen Larkham, Chris Lathem etc would all make it in league easily.

Atleast AFL is different enough to league to be a genuine alternative.

IMO union is just an inferior version of league, which is what makes it frustrating. Watching union is like being starved and having to eat a bowl of peas with chopsticks. League offers a hearty meal complete with knife and fork.

Crap.

Where are the precedents?

What Union player has come to Rugby League and waltzed into a SOO or Australian team?

None of those blokes you've mentioned would walk into any NRL side, let alone rep sides.

Yet Wise Kativerata IS about to play for the Wallabies.

That should have said "Wise Kativerata WILL be playing for the Waratahs".

He'll have to wait a couple of games before he plays for the Wallabies.

Was the question too difficult to answer?

I'll ask it again....

What Union player has come to Rugby League and waltzed into a SOO or Australian team?

You want me to accept that those Union players would make it in League easily, yet I can recall no Union player that walked into a SOO or Australian side. If you can name one, name him.

But there are 3 ex-League Wingers in the current Wallaby squad. All of whom played S12 or for the Wallabies in their first season of Union.

Ok then, Clyde Rathbone is a better winger than anyone else in the NRL at the moment, if he was taken over to league, he'd walce into SOO and the kangaroos!
Anyway, you keep forgetting that I actually PREFER league! I like Union 2nd, but as you said yourself you don't know shit about union! In fact by the looks of your response to my post on union positions, I'd argue I probably know more about NFL than you do about union.

Absolute crap.

Rathbone like Sailor before him would be happy to touch the ball 6 or 8 times in a Union match. Good League wingers are involved in the match, Union wingers are nothing more than people who dive over the line.

You have no idea what you're talking about. You keep making assumptions and saying things like "you said yourself you don't know sh*t about union" when I said nothing of the sort. Union is a mind-numbingly simple game. Just because I can't/don't want to recite each position doesn't mean I don't understand the game.

Michael O'Connor, Ray Price, Ricky Stuart. All great Union players and none of them waltzed into rep sides in League.

There are plenty of Union players who've come to League over the years, much more than have gone from League to Union, so if there is a precedent, it shouldn't be hard to find.

Name one.

Or shut up.

I did before: Ricky Stuart! or even easier Dally Messenger :D :D :D :D :D

Anyway your forgetting the main problem with your argument, league is a much BIGGER game in Australia than union, with a much bigger professional player base... In union they have 3 S12 teams to draw their players from (and occassionally the odd club standout), in league they have 15 clubs... In Union when they have bought players from league they have had them on massive contracts and almost assured them of test spots, when Union players have gone to league in the past they have been coming from an AMATURE game and the transition was always harder...

oh yeah and
