Rule tweaks incoming?

Will the video ref scrutinise the PTB during try scoring situations?
Ugh, we know this will happen. A bonafide try, brought back for a PTB infringement when everything else seems straight forward. If the refs don't see it in real time, it's done - we've moved on

Every year there's a new rule that the refs are told to clamp down on, they blow hard on (already happened in trials) for a while, then forget about. This is the 2025 version

There's too many coaches questioning it, so they are scrambling for yet another bullshit interpretation.

Nobody is going to get sinbinned because it's magic round. Some grub like Mahoney is going to belt a bloke in the head again, the bunker is going to deem it not serious, and there is going to be another uproar next week. In a week or 2 we'll go back to the same bullshit.

If only there was some sort of time period in between the Grand Final and the start of the next season to make these rule and interpretation changes.

We could call it something like, the off season.

They're talking about fouls that have happened but play has already continued on. Like that rubbish one they called yesterday against the Tigers. What were they thinking there?

How about a penalty of 1 interchange for the team of the player that gets put on report but not binned for foul play that results in a HIA of the opposition player?
In the case of no interchanges left then the player gets the usual sin bin.
Maybe a few tweaks to this as well to make it so it can't be exploited.

Who interprets what is a "serious offence"?

When you unpeel all this, the same commentators who were complaining 3 weeks ago about players not being sin binned are the same complaining now.

What the Gould and Johns of the world really mean is "I only want you punish all the other teams, and not mine".

Does the bunker know the difference between a penalty and a professional foul?

There's no way, no how that bump on the chaser in the dogs-titans game was a professional foul. It was just a little bump. He didn't try to tackle him, the kick was covered so there was no try scoring opportunity. It was a penalty.

The bunker can't help themselves from being the centre of attention.

The NRL sort of sat on its hands too long while coaches decided they were changing the way the game is played (for the worse). They've got to get the tackles down. You cant have 3 defenders targeting the chest area without a big risk of hitting the head. The NRL needs to bring in slight rule tweaks rewarding 1 and 2 man tackles.

Agree that the administrators have sat on their hands while coaches have manipulated the rules to suit the style they wanted their team to play to get an edge. A classic 1 on 1 legs tackle gets penalised for not releasing immediately while 4 blokes can peel off 1 by 1 while the defensive line gets set.
