Rumor Mill

We all wii find out. It's good to speculate and dream though. Out of the two great options it seems legally and more possible for Manu to come back in the NRL. The Warriors, Roosters or whoever. Kalyn has obstacles to get that over. The main one being legally. If the Knights let him go on a special agreement to free up cap is the only way Kalyn would be in a Warriors uniform.

Possibly. It won't take him long to get back to his peak. Also I need to correct my post and change the country from Japan to France. Also he won't be breakknt any contracts coming back to the NRL like the Ponga rumor.
I guess he'll have had rest playing union for a year 😀 either way

I'd kill for a centre like him at Rhinos .....maybe when he's in his mid thirties a d looking for a contract !

If we are talking Fullback replacements for CNK I would go back to Roger and or Taine for a year and then load up and go for Kini in 27

I was in the same boat, but looking at it I actually wouldn't be against a fullback for next season - ONLY IF THE RIGHT ONE IS AVAILABLE.

CNK goes, then we're down to RTS and Taine. Both seem to be good on paper, but the issues are

a) RTS is gonna be 32 in a couple of months. Yes, he is a Dally M winner, but he should only be viewed as a short term replacement if he were to go back

b) Taine, I feel we the Warriors need to solidify a position for him to avoid him becoming a Lolohea, or even a Hohaia in that the position kept changing. If the is the answer to be a fullback (and I'm not against that either), then it leaves us even more desperately short on wingers. Seems to be a fairly popular opinion that he could play in the halves.

Joey Manu coming home early.
Cameron George has denied any conversations with the Warriors but said he is interested.

Rugby Union or Rugby League?

Just when we thought sanity had prevailed and it had all died down lol... wonder if this was the original 'big signing' rumour all along?

But anyway, so long as he's coming back to NZ, I don't mind whether its the Warriors or SR.

He'll obviously be an enormous pick up at Penrose; would immediately turns us into a top 6 team IMO. Although dunno where that'd leave poor Taine.

But I still believe he can become an elite rugby mid fielder too. And given how Reiko is going (or not going) at 13, that spot is ripe for Joey to make a run at for '27RWC.

Manu and Suaalii lining up against each other in the 13 jersey in the 27RWC final at Accor would be pretty poetic. Uncle Nick wont know whether to be proud or apoplectic lol

This won't be a popular take but while I think Manu's a great player, I'm not sure he'd be the right fit for the club

Manu has clearly stated an ambition to play for the all blacks and I believe that criteria for AB’s selection is playing in super rugby for a New Zealand franchise.

No doubt Manu has made it clear he's wanting to play for the All Blacks. The interesting part is the early exit from his French RU contract. He could of decided to just come to NZ to play SR if he wanted, the option was there.

Compassionate grounds usually means something else, like a change of heart. If it's family related then I guess like Dylan Walkers recent exit it's actually Compassionate grounds.

it definitely beats the Ponga signing rumor though, way too many obstacles to overcome for that one.

The smh article mentions 'family reasons'.

But that could mean different things too... could be his partner and child being unsettled overseas and not wanting to go through it all again in France, or could be extended family like what brought Fish home.

Dunno if his partner is Australian (?) but if so, the former could land him back in Sydney, and then neither the ABs nor the Warriors are options.

I'm sure the NRL360 journos will pick it to pieces later tonight though lol

Hope I’m wrong but I can’t see him coming back to RL anytime soon unfortunately.

That's an interesting take mate... what's your rationale?
Just don't think he'd fit the team first culture Webby & Cappy are trying to build. He definitely wants to win, but usually wants to be the one on the highlight reel imo.

That being said, he can do some unreal things on a footy field.

That's just my take without any actual insight, of course haha

Fair enough mate. Must admit I don't get the same sense about him... but then as you say, that's just my take with no actual insights either lol

Is it the good looks, bro? Lol.

I usually watch what players do off the ball, Joey always seems to be communicating, making sure his outside men are in the right spots to get a good pass or kick, creating space or setting up a try.
