Injuring your knee in a boxing drill seems a bit odd, if his knee was that tender still then shouldn't he still be abstaining from any intense training like that... Shame if it turns out to be the worst, such recurring serious injuries at a young age can really ruin any potential first grade career.

I did my ACL and the first six months you need to be very careful. Boxing would easy to do it again if not careful - basically the twisting of the knee as you move around in the ring would do it.

Well we've got doctors and physios and trainers etc who would know what his comeback training schedule would be.
I reckon it's just unlucky.

Agreed, though it would be the club who would have rushed it.

I thought it would have been the player actually.

Considering all the depth we now have in the outside backs, and the fact that Loko wasn't going to walk into first grade next year, there's a good chance he would have kept it to himself if he felt the knee wasn't 100% - judging by this year's pre-season, the best way to get on Kearney's good side and get first jump on a first grade jersey is to go hard in pre-season training.

Wow, the board needs to be sacked for this.
How could they let an accident like this happen?
It's all their fault.
I'm going to consult my mate Fitzy on this!

I'd say it would have been a combination of both. The fitness and medical staff would have known his knee still wasn't 100% due to the seriousness of the injury and expected recovery time (6 to 9 months) and would have devised a training plan for Loko accordingly. It is very bad lack, but perhaps another month of rest (which would total 6 months) would have made his knee strong enough so there was less of a chance of this happening.

So if reports are true we are a little light in the centre position now. Loco would have been fighting for a starting position while O'Brien would have been a back up option if we had some injuries in the centre position. Apart from Morgan, Tonga brothers who else has NRL centre experience in our squad?

So if both are out for the year do we look for a backup replacement ?

Ryan Cross maybe?

These guys all have experience at centre in the NRL:

Atkins
Burt
Hayne
Horo
Maitua
McGuire
Morgan
Roberts
Smith, B
Tautai
Tonga
Tonga

And these guys all have experience at centre in lower grades:

Blair
Brien
Lasalo
Ryan
Savage
Sio
Smith, N

Obviously most of the guys named here aren't ideal options as NRL centres, but considering we have Morgan, Tautai and the Tonga brothers who have the agility and strength to at least compete defensively at centre, anyone else is a 5th option at best.

Find me one other club that has more than four guys capable of putting in a good defensive performance at centre. Our depth is fine, even without Loko and Brien.

Cheyse Blair is the name to watch out for, understand he is impressing so far in the pre-season, A standout in NYC, did not get on with the Roosters coahing staff at the top

Terrible news, i blame the board. Fancy a injured player doing a pre season at all. If only Fitzy was still in charge no one ever got injured under his watch well besides Guru Sr and David Woods.........
